The team at Long Pocket would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Although this is the last edition of Vue for 2013, we are looking forward to sharing many more with you, with 2014 promising to be bigger and busier than ever! In this edition, we reflect on some amazing events over the past months with a recap of our Melbourne Cup celebrations as well as our Styling Showcase. We also introduce a key member of our operations team and share the beautiful wedding of Penni and John. Why did you choose Long Pocket Weddings and Events for your nuptials? We began to research wedding reception venues very early following our engagement, but didn’t need to look further than Long Pocket Weddings at Indooroopilly Golf Club because of its fantastic reputation as a reliable, established, beautiful venue. The all-inclusive package options made planning our day incredibly easy and also set Long Pocket apart from other venues when making our decision. What did you love most about the venue? The location of the venue and its surrounds provided a secluded, private setting that was perfect for our day and gave a stunning backdrop for our photographs. What was the style and colour theme of your reception? Our traditional reception had a Winter theme in the colours of navy blue and white, with snowflakes featuring heavily in our decorations, stationery and cake. Fresh flowers were also an important part of our centrepieces, forming a wreath to surround glass candlesticks on each guest table. What was your favourite aspect of the day? The experience and expertise of the Long Pocket staff meant that our reception was incredibly well organised, allowing us to relax and enjoy the occasion, without having the need to worry about the day running smoothly. This fact was commented on by so many of our guests, and we have the team at Long Pocket to thank for this! Three words you would use to describe the day? Polished. Seamless. Unforgettable.

Social Golf at Indooroopilly Golf Club PUBLIC PLAY
Indooroopilly Golf Club welcomes visitors to play our 36-hole championship golf course from Sunday to Friday. Located on a bend of the Brisbane River just 10 minutes from the heart of Brisbane, we offer a great golf experience in a relaxed setting. Please note that Indooroopilly Golf Club has a strict Dress Code. For insurance reasons external motorised carts are not allowed at Indooroopilly Golf Club. We have 60 motorised carts available for hire should they be required.

Indooroopilly Golf Club offers you the chance to access online timesheets directly as a registered Public Member. By registering, you can book your next tee off time for 18-holes of golf from Sunday to Friday. If you require a motorised golf cart please call the Golf Shop prior to booking to confirm availability.

staff spotlight TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY WITH LONG POCKET WEDDINGS & EVENTS: I started approximately five years ago as Functions Manager. Being in this role gave me a valuable insight and whetted my appetite for a career path in hospitality. I gained valuable experience in this position and was then promoted to Food and Beverage Operations Manager. This very diverse role presents varied, unpredictable and rewarding challenges every day. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO START A CAREER IN EVENTS: When I was about 19-20 years old I was working in a Bar/Restaurant in the city and was asked to ‘fill in’ at a banquet function for the Queensland Rugby League team and just loved it; had the function been for the NSW Rugby League team I may have taken a completely different career path! WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT OF YOUR JOB: Every day is different and sometimes exhausting but when clients are happy and just say ‘thanks’ its all worthwhile. WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF THE PERFECT EVENT: A room full of happy people and behind the scenes, staff have followed detailed run-sheets to the letter. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO PEOPLE WISHING TO ENTER THE EVENTS INDUSTRY: Never take anything for granted, attention to detail must always be ‘high priority’. Never think something is not so important that you do nothing!
