Visible Thinking “Making Thinking Visible” is understood as a series of techniques or strategies that help students recognize their best thinking routine process and externalize it. In this way the thinking process becomes easier to handle because its main objective is that students become involved in the discovery of new ways of thinking, reaching a new level of independence and autonomy in their learning. It is a deep learning procedure that focuses on developing understanding through constructive processes.

FUN 3, 2, 1... Launch! Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the day men landed on the moon was a great opportunity for the girls to interact with other levels, work in groups, practice scientific skills and have a lot of fun! The students went on a virtual reality tour to the moon onboard apollo 11, they colored the galaxy, did a crossword about the race to the moon, played heads up with keywords of the historic event and experimented with different materials to create lunar rocks.

Las alumnas de Bachillerato pudieron visitar los stands de las universidades que expusieron su oferta educativa y académica en nuestro colegio. Instituciones de Estados Unidos, Oceanía, Europa, Sudamérica y Ecuador, ofrecieron a las estudiantes sus planes de estudios, becas y ayudas económicas, programas culturales y deportivos, etc. En un ambiente alegre y distendido, algunas en compañía de sus padres, pudieron resolver y aclarar dudas sobre la próxima etapa educativa que están por comenzar. Participaron como colegios invitados los alumnos de los últimos cursos del Torremar y del Colegio Menor.

The English Program at Delta seeks to develop a deep understanding of language with real-case scenarios and cross-curricular activities. With subjects such as Science, History, Social Studies, Arts, Technology, Business, Geography, Dance, and Environmental Systems and Societies, English transcends from the Language Arts and Literature classes and becomes a tool with which our students learn and create. Our girls are exposed to the language from an early age allowing them to be fully engaged in it which benefits their biliteracy process. As they advance in elementary and middle school, they are immersed even further in classrooms where games and knowledge merge into meaningful learning experiences. With ludic and practical activities, they create games and projects using their language skills as tools to let imagination soar. As they grow in their academic life in high school and baccalaureate, activities such as the UN Model, Debate Club, and others allow them to take charge and showcase their knowledge and skills in academic settings, ensuring a successful transition into universities around the world and an outstanding professional career.

Les langues permettent de communiquer et de connaître d'autres cultures, donc il est important de renforcer le niveau de la langue française en utilisant de nouvelles stratégies et méthodologies d'enseignement-apprentissage pour motiver les élèves à apprendre une troisième langue, ce qui leur donnera de nouvelles opportunités dans le domaine professionnel. Il est aussi essentiel d'enrichir le lexique à travers d'activités variées et leur donner les outils nécessaires pour qu'elles puissent les appliquer dans des situations de la vie quotidienne. Nous préparons et motivons les élèves à passer l'examen international DELF Prim A1 et JUNIOR A1 et A2. Los idiomas permiten comunicar y conocer otras culturas, por lo que es importante fortalecer el nivel de la lengua francesa, empleando nuevas estrategias y metodologías de enseñanza-aprendizaje para motivar a las alumnas a aprender un tercer idioma, lo que les dará nuevas oportunidades en el campo profesional. También es esencial enriquecer el léxico a través de actividades divertidas y darles todas las herramientas necesarias para que puedan aplicarlas adecuadamente en pequeñas situaciones de la vida cotidiana. STEAM Steam focuses on everyday life skills and activities through the study and experimentation of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math. It fosters motivation and curiosity while putting into practice teamwork and collaboration, autonomy, adaptability, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Steam provides students with the opportunity to develop minds-on and hands-on activities that will prepare them for their future and let them connect their knowledge with real life situations.

Learning science combines researching, studying, testing, evaluating, observing, classifying, communicating, measuring, predicting, inferring, among others. During women in science week, students were able to apply these skills through different activities.

INNOVATION FAIR

Delta Makers displays all the skills that our students develop throughout the year in interdisciplinary projects with a combination of technology and innovation. The Internal Rube Goldberg Machine Contest leads our students to use engineering in order to Give a solution to a challenge. 7th, 8th and 9th graders after weeks of hard work displayed their machines.

STEAM Hands on learning Laboratory practices aim to consolidate the theoretical knowledge of the students. And the best way to establish the connection between theory and practice is through hands-on work where the students develop a deeper level of understanding. The skills achieved through laboratory practice allow students to develop critical thinking while learning to follow instructions, determine variables and evaluate results. They also learn how to solve problems when the data obtained is not the desired, but they are a required step in their process of growth and reflection.

STEAM Delta´s Science Games Teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and resourcefulness were some of the skills our students had to apply during our Delta’s Science Games. In this edition, 27 representatives of different levels showcased their mastery of scientific skills as they had a blast!

Robotics, Technology and Invention - Arizona State University Two weeks of robot construction, programming and innovation techniques at Arizona State University! In this program, baccaulereate students were challenged to think from different perspectives in order to solve specific problems!

Technology, Robotics and Coding Technology fosters the connections of practical skills that include manipulating text editing software, looking for resources, maintaining proper online etiquette, create presentations, coding, image editing and robotics which nurture the development of problem solving skills, breakdown complex problems into manageable pieces, flexibility, creative and critical thinking, collaboration and digital citizenship through the correct and responsible use of devices.

This is the International Baccalaureate (IBO).” In a challenging world the IB seeks to develop a student that has thinking skills, including areas such as critical thinking, creative thinking and ethical thinking. These skills are developed in the context of each subject and also with the aid of a program known as Theory of Knowledge that teaches students to question the nature of knowledge and how knowledge is applied. Through the interplay of asking, doing and thinking, the IB’s constructivist approach leads towards open, democratic classrooms. Delta has the Diploma Program of the IB. It prepares students with the skills for university and professional life. IB students are more confident in their academic abilities and think more positively about their academic futures and their potential. IB students are lifelong learners, independently and in collaboration with others.

The objective of the Visual Arts course is to achieve a better and more peaceful world through artistic creation. The works shown in the final exhibition are the students personal projects, based on research of multiple topics of their interest. Then they formulate an intention and a message to the public that is expressed through the images and materials used as a result of continuous artistic experiments. In the assembly of their exhibition, the students demonstrate their abilities and potential, the different styles learned, as well as reflect their own feelings and thinking, the appreciation of cultural diversity of the human being, and nature.

The IB main objective is to improve the world through education. In order to achieve this goal and keep the rigorous standards the IB programs have, the organization looks into authorized IB schools and invites teachers with at least three years of IB experience to join the International Baccalaureate Educators network (IBEN). This network of teachers collaborates with the IB thus ensuring the high-quality of its programs. When teachers decide to accept this challenge they undergo a process of preparation in which they have access to a totally different level of professional development that aims at providing educators with a first world class experience, in order to provide their students with the same standards. In total, Delta has 9 IBEN members, among them we find workshop leaders, consultants, visits team leaders and members, and examiners. ¡Este año la participación en canstruction ha sido espectacular! Lo más importante es que conseguimos recaudar más de 5000 latas que dieron de comer a muchas familias necesitadas. Con algunas de esas latas, la escultura que realizaron las alumnas de II Bachillerato ganó el primer premio, es decir la escultura favorita del jurado; pero también ganamos el premio al mejor uso de etiquetas. Y, por primera vez, este año obtuvimos un premio latinoamérica verde.

Dictó diferentes talleres y conferencias a los padres de todos los cursos de la primaria sobre la educación de la afectividad y la sexualidad.

Legolab

Creativity, problem solving, collaborative work, mathematical thinking, and language is favored through Lego Education. In this lab, kids have the opportunity to manipulate different pieces, materials and tools wich exercise their imagination. Children also learn to express their opinions and points of view in order to reach a consensus within their groups.

Disciplina Positiva

Apoyados en los principios de la Disciplina Positiva, ayudamos a los niños a desarrollar habilidades sociales y competencias básicas para la vida de una manera respetuosa y alentadora. Por medio de intervenciones cotidianas y reuniones semanales, los niños adquieren herramientas que les permiten identificar y hablar sobre sus emociones.

Es un proyecto que ofrece a los niños la oportunidad de realizar acciones que generen un cambio en sí mismos y en su ambiente próximo, y a la vez puedan contribuir de manera concreta a la mejora de la comunidad. Este año, nuestra manera de lograrlo fue a través de los libros. The exposure to music from foreign countries provides the opportunity for students to identify the differences and similarities between diverse cultures. They learn about the location, national flag, language, traditions and lifestyles from countries around the world, creating in children empathy and respect towards others. Green Thursdays es un proyecto que ofrece a los niños (y a los padres), la oportunidad de realizar actividades en torno a la “experiencia del huerto”. Probar nuevos sabores, identificar tipos distintos de hojas, conocer los usos de las plantas medicinales... las posibilidades son amplísimas y todas están enfocadas en alentar una mayor conexión entre los niños y la Naturaleza. The finished product reflects more than just a combination of strokes; it represents the endless possibilities of each child’s creativity. Every year, our mini artists demonstrate a wide range of styles and movements.

Every story presents a child with endless possibilities for their imaginations. When kids read they are travelling into different places, into different lives. This “magic” found in books is actually developing their language skills and their ability to concentrate and listen. Frequent exposition to music accelerates the development of memory, literacy and math skills. The rhythm of music is formed by a series of intervals that immediately improve linguistic development, including second-language acquisition. “Concert Fridays” presents every week a different musician who performs live during twenty minutes. This provides the perfect space for the kids to get acquainted with a variety of musical instruments, genres and styles.
