Vue de Haut

VIEWED FROM ABOVE

Another way of looking at things, from an « elsewhere », without its feet on the ground. The countryside is like a work of art, the island, like a model exposed to the imaginary. Realities impose their eternities and the details become compositional elements as rigorous as they are fantasy; Viewed from above the island is an infinite painting which defies preconceived ideas/certitudes. Viewed from above there is no more judgement, no more opinions, the shapes form themselves. In the blink of an eye the imagination takes hold. Cars parked like lego blocks, parasols

displayed like like a tray of inviting macaroons, mix with the view of a whale’s exposed tailfin just above the water’s surface. The purity of a concrete masterpiece. Geometric forms display their reasons, nature claims its harmony. Mere talk and analysis drown in its own derision. There remains just calm and bare facts. The integrity of the images finds itself in the poetic alchemy created by the photographers eye and the reader’s complicity. Nothing but supposition. Nothing but the chosen. The stuff of dreams
