Sixty years ago, Bulgari created the Serpenti, the stunning immortalization he snake in gold and pavé diamonds, becoming the emblematic icon of the brand. With its powerful symbolism of eternal renewal, the Serpenti will return on February 9, 2013 as Bulgari celebrates the launch a new high-jewelry collection, a book from Assouline and an extraordinary retrospective exhibition opening in New York City. The exhibition will then travel to other US cities in Spring 2013.

The legendary Roman jeweler Bulgari, will unveil a very special project in early February 2013, and I am writing to propose an exciting story idea for you to consider over the holiday break.

Inspired by Greco-Roman mythology, the collection was introduced in the 1940s, was favored by legends like Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Vreeland, and has now been resurrected and is somehow more modern and sensuous than ever. The Serpenti represents a rich and deep context in mythology, standing for everlasting love, eternity and sex appeal. I thought you might be interested in a sneak peek and exploring the Serpenti’s illustrious design history and how it informs today’s legendary collection.

Paul Newman Founder of Camp Boggy Creek

Camp Boggy Creek is specifically designed for children with chronic or life threatening illnesses and allows them to safely enjoy the activities of a “traditional” camp. Between early morning swims and evening campfires, children whose lives have been a series of medical procedures and hospital stays are transformed into just “kids.” They have a chance to be with others coping with the same illness or condition and realize that they are not alone. The prescription for the day is fun, fun, fun! Laughter, giggles, friendships and excitement abound on the 232 acres of tall pines, majestic oaks and nature trails. Campers are empowered to do things they never dreamed they could do. They are infused with a spirit of accomplishment at every turn and allowed to forget that “they have what they have.” For many of them it is the first time they’ve felt “normal” since their diagnosis. Programs at Camp Boggy Creek include week long summer sessions as well as family retreat weekends and each includes full medical coverage with on site professionals in the illness specialty being served. During each of our summer sessions, up to 150 children with like illnesses arrive for a week of fun, adventure and independence.

The Camp Boggy Creek experience is more than a funfilled getaway. It helps children and their families to better cope with the day-to-day challenges they face in dealing with serious illness. www.boggycreek.org For more information, to donate or to get involved, contact: Leah Miles at 561-281-1793.

DOCTORAL ROBES:

Celebrating the Life of

Don “Bunny” McArt

The Final Curtain Falls on One of the Longest Running Brother and Sister Acts

D.D. (Doctor of Divinity) – doctoral robes

STRIPED JACKET:

Don McArt was a song and dance man at the Mayfair Theater in Los Angeles.

Don and Jan were scheduled to perform in the premiere of Tony Finstrom’s play reading in the Wold Center on January 14, 2013. Here to celebrate with the music of Finian’s Rainbow were the Atlantic City Boys, the musical duo Dunlap and Pennington, singing actress and cantor Lori Belkin Shapiro, Al Johnson, actress Connie Gould, actor/director Dan Kelley, John Lawlor, Jean Michel Redinger and Dr. Barbara Lunde. Many friends from both the theatre and Don’s ministerial work, along with great-niece and nephew Katharine and Evan Lawlor, enjoyed the impressive program featuring film clips, wonderful music and remembrances of Don and excerpts from his favorite show, Finian’s Rainbow. The celebration ended appropriately with Say Good Night Gracie and now we say goodnight and goodbye to Don McArt.

Manfred Schon, Jan McArt & Dan Kelley

Jan McArt and daughter, Debbi Lawlor, celebrated the life of Jan’s brother, Dr. Don “Bunny” McArt, at the Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012. There was no doubt about it, they played to a final soldout house—ending one of show business’ most unusual and longest running brother and sister acts in the history of theatre.

Jan, while still a teenager, was hired by Rodgers and Hammerstein for the lead in one of the longest running shows of all time, Oklahoma! while Don’s first show was with legendary director George Abbott in Kiss ‘n Tell. Both were constantly working in New York, Hollywood, Europe and the Orient. Don took time away from his busy career in Los Angeles in 1977 to do the comic lead in The Merry Widow that opened Jan McArt’s Royal Palm Dinner Theatre, and in 1990 they finally worked together when Don moved his residence to Boca Raton and he became a steady comedy star in all of Jan’s five theatres (Key West, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami Beach and two in Boca Raton). He quickly became an audience favorite and after that took Say Good Night Gracie on tour.

In Memory of

Jeremy Haruvi

July 26, 1983 – December 31, 2012 Dear Abe and Family! I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your brilliant son Jeremy! My thoughts are with you and your family! When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure!

Yours Sincerely

Maya A. Johnson

Jeremy with his brothers John John, Jacob William & sister Giulliana Marilia There are some experiences in life that we pray we will never have to endure or witness. The loss of a child is without a doubt the most horrific and incomprehensible. Jeremy Seth Haruvi was buried on January 3th, 2013 after a beautiful service officiated by Rabbi Moshe Scheiner at The Star of David Chapel in West Palm Beach. Jeremy was an extraordinary young man who experienced loss and illness from a very young age. His mother Suzanne passed away when he was only 11 years old and his father, Abe Haruvi, raised him alone. Father and son were extremely close and shared an exceptional bond. Jeremy was an incredibly bright student who attended the exclusive and highly competitive Stuyvesant High School in New York City and then went on to Stony Brook University. He planned to further his education this year by studying neurobiological research. He is remembered by everyone who knew him, as a very kind person with a great heart and a contagious laugh. He adored his family

and took great joy in spending time with his brothers and sister. During the service, his immediate family shared intimate stories that portrayed how remarkable he was, even as a child. The depth and intensity of Jeremy’s family’s emotions when they spoke of him was extremely moving. This young man deeply inspired and touched the lives of everyone around him. Jeremy’s paternal grandfather, Herman, a publisher, shared that Jeremy was a voracious reader and that he always had a book in his hand. He also said that Jeremy had just started writing a novel. His cousin Elaine spoke of how he wanted the same things that everyone else wants - a loving relationship and a family of his own. JohnJohn, his stepbrother said that Jeremy was his brother. Giovanna, Jeremy’s stepmother shared how she loved him as a son and that he called her MOM.

“Dear God, I humbly accept all that you have done for me and my family with love and reverence. I know that you will take good care of him. That Jeremy shall no longer feel any worldly pain, and that he is with love, with his mom, Suzanne, his grandmother and grandfather. As life never stops moving forward, dropping the leaves off the tree, I find solace that one day we will all be together again, in peace and in love.” Jeremy Seth Haruvi lost his life long battle with diabetes on December 31, 2012, but he will live forever in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to have crossed his path. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Palm Beach Synagogue and the Chabad of Southampton, New York.

His father Abe gave a passionate and moving speech directed to God. Page 17
