Express Notes Harley’s Honors: Sierra Harley is the reigning OCCAC player of the week. It was the second time this year she has won the award. Six Is Super: Owens enters conference play with six OCCAC player of the week selections so far: Demy Whitaker (Nov. 16), LaKayra Carlisle (Nov. 30), Ashley Tunstall (Dec. 7, Dec. 21) and Sierra Harley (Dec. 14, Jan. 4). 15 And Counting: Owens has won 15 straight since opening the season with a loss on the road against NJCAA Division I Wabash Valley. They are four away from tying the program record of 19 straight. They also enter today’s game with a seven game conferene winning streak. Reynolds To The Rescue: Freshman guard Tatyana Reynolds scored 14 points, including nine crucial ones in the second half, to help Owens stave off a second half rally from Roane State on Monday.

Today’s Game

The No. 3 Owens Express women’s basketball team is looking for its 16th straight win as they travel to Dayton, Ohio to open conference play against the Sinclair Tartan Pride today. It will be the second game of league play for Sinclair following its 75-37 win over Lorain County last week. The Tartan Pride enter the game as winners of three straight and five of seven. The Express are coming off a tough 90-79 victory over Roane State Community College on Monday. In the game, Sierra Harley had a career-high 24 points, while Tatyana Reynolds added 14 off the bench.

Series History Owens swept Sinclair in their home-andhome last year and averaged 112 points per game in the process. Owens has won five straight over Sinclair dating back to the 2012-13 season. Furthermore, they are 39-12 against Sinclair since the start of the 1992-93 season. Head coach Mike Llanas is 17-5 against Sinclair since his tenure began in 2004-05.

Tartan Pride Notes Duo Averaging Double Figures: Sinclair is getting a team-high 12.9 points per game from O’sha Owens, while Jenae Curtiss is averaging 11.8 per game. Not far behind are Breanna Ball (9.9/game) and Alona Skipper (9.2/game) Conference Opening Blowout: Alona Skipper scored a team-high 16 points, while Breanna Ball added 11 as Sinclair routed Lorain County 75-37 in its conference opener this past weekend. Three other players had nine points, while Ashtin Brandon (12) and Timberlynn Donaldson (11) led the team in rebounds. Three Straight: Beginning with an 87-39 win over Southern State on Dec. 22, Sinclair has won three straight. They also defeated Ivy Tech 103-57 before the win over Lorain County. 5 on 5: The Sinclair Tartan Pride have five sophomores on their roster, which is the same number Owens has.
