ow many think Prince Charles’ wife Camilla was chasing Alice’s White Rabbit when she fell down the rabbit hole last week? Me, me me! Camilla 62, was out walking on their vast property in the Scottish Highlands on Wednesday, April 7th, when she stepped into a rabbit hole, twisting her left ankle. Trying to keep the proverbial British stiff upper lip, the Duchess was helped home where she attempted to nurse her injured leg herself. But after suffering through a night filled with royal pain, she was whisked off to the Aboyne Cottage Hospital near Aberdeen, where doctors diagnosed her with a broken fibula and confined her to a cast for the next six weeks. Well wishes Duchess.

nd speaking of the Royal family, does anyone else find it interesting that on the very eve of announcing an engagement between Prince William and his girlfriend of seven years Kate Middleton, her parents, who own a party business, are putting out a line of budget bridal accessories? Carole and Mike Middleton are the proud owners of Party Pieces, and they have just launched their new product line that includes such wedding ‘must haves’ as a white car ribbon priced at $2.25, a wedding journal for $22.00 and a personalized guest book and matching pen, also selling for about $22 bucks. I suppose that once the forthcoming nuptials are announced between their daughter and the future Kind of England, business will boom. As a side note though, I can’t help but wonder about the success of a marriage with a seven year courtship – isn’t that about the time most couples get that annoying seven - year itch and split for good? Just curious.

exy Vanessa Hudgens must be shaking in her black leather kneehigh boots after finding out Cougar Courteney Cox is after her man! According to a source, Courteney 44, asked 22 year old High School Musical hottie Zac Efron to join her on an upcoming episode of her hit TV show Cougartown – playing what else, her toy boy lover! And even though Cox is twice Efron’s age and is happily married to her former Scream co-star David Arquette, she’s still one hot tamale. The 21 year old cutie would be smart to stick super close to Zac when he shoots this one!

ictoria ‘Posh’ Beckham is desperate for baby number four with hunky hubby David Beckham. The couple, who are already parents to sons Brooklyn 11, Romeo 7, and little 5 year old Cruz, would love to add a baby girl to the mix and in an effort to relax and make that happen, 36 year old Victoria is doing a yoga work out four times a week. “Jennifer Aniston, Brooke Shields, Helen Hunt and Ricki Lake are all clients of this yoga instructor Mandy Ingber,” a source tells Hollywood Hot Sheet, “and Jen recommended Posh practice Mandy’s Yoga at home with her new DVD, Yogalosophy. Victoria has been doing the work out four times a week like clockwork, and now she is hoping that by balancing her mind, body and spirit, she will be able to get pregnant again. Of course we would recommend a fun filled weekend in South Beach …without the kids… that should loosen them up. But then again, that’s us!

MG! American Idol’s Adam Lambert has a secret. Even though he’s completely out of the closet, he admits he likes to make out with girls. In fact, he’s a little bi-curious – wondering what it would be like to have sex with a girl. “I like making out with girls from time to time,” he said recently. “I’ve never had sex with a woman and I am a little bit curious about it.” I say hey honey, whatever helps you hit those high notes.

rad Pitt and Angelina Jolie allow their kids to eat whatever they want, whenever they want. A source confides the kids eat cereal or pancakes for dinner, pizza or fried chicken for breakfast and ice cream almost any time of the day. “Because the Jolie- Pitts travel the world on a regular basis, the kids are totally mixed up when it comes to mealtime,” says the source. “They might leave LA in the morning and arrive in Italy the following day. And even though it’s been more than 24 hours since they last ate breakfast, they’ll be hungry for fried chicken or pasta. The source adds that while Brad and Angelina would love the kids to eat more healthy fare like fruits and vegetables, their favorite place to dine is McDonald’s. “The first thing the kids ask when they arrive in a new place is, ‘Where is McDonalds?’ says the source. “And as long as they can order up a burger, fries and Chicken McNuggets, they are as happy as clams… which by the way, they don’t eat.

ate Gosselin should count her blessings. The mother of eight just signed on to star in not one… but TWO TLC shows that are sure to net her hundreds of thousands of dollars. In one, called Twist of Kate, she will travel America looking for people she can help with their problems. And in the other, she will simply continue to be a mom of eight - just minus the kid’s dad. Now, if like me, you’re asking, ‘how’s she gonna sort out everyone else’s problems when she can’t sort out her own?’ we ought to stay tuned, ‘cause it’s bound to be a bumpy ride. However, when all is said and done we have to admit that balancing two TLC shows, while Dancing with the Stars, has got to be a heck of a lot more profitable than Kate’s former job as a labor and delivery nurse – which only pays about $55,000 a year - hardly enough to keep Kate in her hideous hair extensions let alone pay for three full time nannies, right? What kind of face to do you have? Oval, square, round or busted? This is necessary so you get the right fit and most importantly the right look. If you have an oval face, you are lucky. (Bitch!) Just about any type of frame will fit your face. It is kind of like having the universal blood type so you can be conservative or experiment with different designs. No matter what, you are going to look good. Sometimes it is good to be square, but if you want keep it presentable then I suggest you tone down that strong jaw line, wide forehead and brick cheekbones. Sometimes you can have too much angle. To soften those linear features, try round or oval frames. If you have a round face, then you should stick to wider frames and rectangular styles. This will help elongate your visage. you know how wearing black can be thinning? Well this style selection is what you need. And for the busted face, I suggest Stucco.

MG can you believe it; it feels like we live in Florida again! Hurray for humidity and keeping your skin from getting too dry. The warmth feels good as it penetrates the skin while driving with the windows down. In addition, I bet most of you have already cancelled your tanning memberships. The time has come to put away those three sweaters you kept rotating on a weekly basis because it seemed that the uninvited guest named old man winter was not leaving anytime soon. Now that he is gone and spring has officially begun, I know that all of you have already begun to infiltrate the gulf’s sandy white beaches. It’s going to be a hot summer and you better be prepared to take on the sun which means taking along your SPF, Sunday morning church hat and flip flops. you are also going to need a fabulous pair or pairs of lunettes de soliel (a.k.a. sunglasses), a requirement to be Fierce! OMG 16

Use protection. For your information, the FDA does not regulate sunglasses. Ultra Violet radiation (UV Rays) from the sun can turn your corneas into toast and sizzle the conjunctivas of your eyes. Cataracts, in the prime of your life, is just not fashionable. Read the labels and make sure

you are at 95% UV reduction and do not settle for less unless you are already blind or only wear you sunglasses at night, which I think is just absurd. There are so many styles to choose from. Some of the classic style of sunglasses are aviators. Introduced to the US military in the 1930s by Ray Ban, they have been embraced by the fashion world ever since. Celebrities love an oversized style. Just think about Jackie O, the epitome of American elegance. Then there is the all-seasonal timeless Wayfarer for the sophisticated male who has a great sense of style. Now how much do you spend? If price is not an issue, Tom Ford has amazing collection. Ray Ban can do no wrong. Gucci and Prada always seem to have just what I want. you do not have to spend a lot to get the best. Sometimes the least expensive sunglasses with the best protection are found at Walgreens or CVS for a fraction of cost of designer ones. Just do not forget your CVS card if you go there. They are so nice there. Even if you forget your card, they’ll let you use theirs. May the fierce be with you… Shady!

hat’s the T children?! I hope all of you had a fantastic drama free weekend. Nothing gets anyone’s panties in a bunch like unforeseen melodramatic mayhem especially if there isn’t a glass of wine involved. you can best believe if the “T” is spilled, stop whatever you are doing and look for the closest OMG Magazine, cause if you’re looking for the “drama” mama… grab a mag and smoke a fag. Chris Cox rocks the Pot Usually after a stressful work week I like to grab a bottle of bubbly, a deep dish pizza and make it a Blockbuster night. However upon realizing my skinny jeans are starting to feel more like tights, I thought I would pass on the deep dish and work off some inches on the dance floor the other Friday night at Steam @ The Honey Pot (located in the Gaybor district of Tampa, Florida). As I readied myself, I reminisced about the good ole days of yesteryear when Chris Cox and Barry Harris were a dance music dynasty. yes, Chris Cox is one half of the fame dance duo Thunderpuss that gave us booty shaking anthems like “If It Don’t Fit” by Abigail and “Its Not Right but Its Okay” by Whitney (“Crack is Whack”) Houston. I’m sure some of you remember those days when you could party as their music became the soundtrack for the evening, then go to the after-party, OMG 22

and then the after after-party before realizing that it was already Tuesday. Chris Cox brought the beats that evening, giving everyone including yours truly more incentive to take any problems to the dancefloor. Heart Hair affair Recently, I beat my mug and convened with some of my favorite fashionistas to attend the 4th Annual Heart Hair Show at Czar Vodka Bar (also located in the Gaybor district). yes Miss Honey… if you were there, you’d know a bitch was not playing during this hair raising event. Suited, booted, not diluted and painted like the Sistine Chapel, I was flaunting a quaff Mohawk that was so hair couture it would have made Vidal Sassoon roar, “Have that bitch beheaded!” Without question, upon hearing of this soiree I made sure I summoned the appropriate players to affix my name on

triguing. However, the majority of the hair stylings did catch my eye.

the VIP listing. This was obviously going to be the king scene for the evening. After I finished donning my ensemble in the parking lot, we trotted pass the civilians standing in line only to be told VIP’s were to enter in the rear alley entrance. Far be it from me to have any problem with a little back door action, but in a dark alley? Sorry, I’m not that type of girl. As my group and I proceeded around, we were graciously met at the door by Ben Chmura of this season’s Project Runway fame. If you know Ben, you know how consistently courteous he is. Never one to be one of those “hanger oners” blowing smoke just to rivet myself on someone’s celebdom (as I have my own – NO PICTURES PLEASE!!!), I made a little small talk, complimented the door whore, flirted with the bouncer and away I went inside.

In the adjoining room , an art installment by Tampa’s up and coming fashion designer Paul Raymond mesmerized the audience. Paul’s models Syren and Molly Sue from Cycle 6 of America’s Next Top Model gave good face while robed in outsized black-andwhite striped garments, which channeled “Prison Girls” meets “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” A sublime movie reel looped behind them giving voyeurs a glimpse into the mind of Paul Raymond. Subsequent to the rock hard fashion also staring Molly Sue and Tampa native Joseph Grill came the climax of the evening (for me at least) when U.B.U salon put on a hair extravaganza, conceptualized by Ian Hensley, fit for Tampa Bay Art Museum. I’m not sure who was to follow those morphed mesmerizing manes, but consequently that was about all the pelt I could take for one night. My dogs were barking and it was time to put those puppies to rest. So the next time you miss out on the whereabouts… let your wondering mind lead you here!

The event’s judges Dallas Nielsen, Ben Chmura, and Gen from the band Genitortures took their places. The lovely (DOLLAR SHOTS!) princess of Gaybor, Arica Love, cohosted the evening as the follicle fireworks began. Students from Aveda, Paul Mitchell and Redken gathered and cheered as the decadent models paraded the stage. Amongst the “cousin It”-inspired lamp shade head dress, the black widow spider frock and the Mad Hatter hairdo, there were plenty of hair don’ts. I know thta I wasn’t blessed with the ability to creatively tease a weave, but some of the student projects? Not so much! I’ve seen Halloween wigs straight out the plastic bag look more inOMG 23

You love Massage, but you would love it more if you had the answers to a few questions you have been shy about asking. Good news, in this edition of MBS, I’ll address those nagging questions you would like to ask your Massage Therapist, but were afraid to ask. Question 1: i’m a bit uncomfortable taking everything off when i go for a massage. is it really necessary for me to be completely naked to get a good massage? Some people go under the sheets without a stitch on. Others wear their underwear. Some wear shorts, sweatpants or even their street clothes. So the answer is NO, you don’t have to take off any more clothing than you are comfortable with when getting a massage. Talk to your therapist, they should be able to adapt to your needs. Remember, it’s your massage. It’s all about you. Just as a word of caution though, wearing more clothes can interfere with the use of certain techniques during massage. There is no reason a good therapist can’t give you an enjoyable massage in casual clothes. Rest assured, massage therapists work with all kinds of bodies, in all shapes and sizes. A great massage therapist will be aware of your apprehension and work to strike a balance between assuaging your fears and OMG 30

dealing with your body from a professional clinical perspective. Question 2: How do i talk to my massage therapist about money? i’d like to visit more frequently, but it would be a financial hardship. People would rather talk about their most embarrassing moments than talk about money. If you feel your financial situation will not allow you to continue your therapy, might I suggest that you consider all your options first? you might check with your insurance carrier to see if massages are covered. Many people have it, but don’t even know it. Conditions of acceptance for thirdparty reimbursement can vary because insurance coverage varies greatly. No coverage? There are still lots of options to discuss. Rather than drop massage from your budget and life, consider coming in shorter more affordable sessions. Another

possibility is working with your therapist on an “account” basis. Many MTs will sell time packages in bulk at a better discount than they offer on their individual session rate. Depending on your schedule’s flexibility, some therapists will offer discounts for filling in for a last minute cancellation, they would rather fill the time at a discount than lose the income altogether. Additionally, look into “bartering networks,” like BNI and Groupon.com where some therapist market their services through these organizations at a sizeable discount. If you love massage and communicate with your therapist how much you value it, you might be able to work out an arrangement that is fair to both of you. Question 3: i’m never sure about gratuities for massage services – What should i tip? This is a tough question and many therapists are split on this one. Not all massage settings will accept tips (like an MT working in a Doctor’s office.) The bottom line is this… if you feel like tipping, then offer one. If you don’t feel tipping is appropriate, then don’t do it. Personally, I would rather you come back for another session, than have you worry about tipping with each visit. Question 4: What if i get aroused during a massage?

This can occur during a massage so don’t panic. Sometimes as a result of your nervous system going into relaxation mode, an erection can occur. A good therapist knows that this is a physiological reaction and will treat the situation accordingly. Usually your therapist will try to re-direct your attention with a shift in the focus of their work, maybe by altering the pressure or moving to a different area of your body. your unintended stimulation and any potential embarrassment will soon pass. Hopefully, I have touched on a few of those nagging concerns you deal with when it comes to receiving a massage. If there are any more unspoken questions for your therapist, then simply ASK! your honesty will strengthen your therapeutic bond with your caregiver and let you deepen your relaxation time as well as the feeling of healing that truly is MASSAGE! It’s your time, it’s your massage, and it’s all about yOU!!! Another way to connect your mind and body is through Massage Therapy! Give yourself the gift of happiness today with a massage at TAMPAPROMASSAGE. There are a lot of massage therapists out there, give yourself the massage you pay for. his edition of the Restaurant Review takes us on a food tour of the red Mesa in St. Petersburg, with two seasoned “Mesa” dinners in tow that Saturday night. Our plan was to have some of the “finest” black bean soup this side of the Rio Grande! No flash in the pan, the Red Mesa has been bringing smiles to the faces of residents and visitors of St Petersburg since 1996. Owned and operated by Peter and Shawn Veytia, this well-rooted restaurant’s influences have run deep in town since 1981. OMG 36

The 4th Avenue North areaof St Petersburg is a hodgepodge of fast food restaurants, pizzerias, and local neighborhood specialty shops. So Mesa stands out in an area of town that most restaurateurs have abandoned in efforts to move to the more influential downtown area. Squeezed in the midst of this rather transit part of town is the “not your typical Mexican restaurant” Red Mesa which might be the city’s most sophisticated purveyor of southern western style cuisine. While the décor seems a little kitschy, Red Mesa enthusiastically offers the real deal via a menu of southwestern regional standards, and a well-informed wait staff. Be sure to ask for Mario! More importantly, the food achieves a high level of deliciousness. Part of a two-restaurant family food chain, Red Mesa has been open since 1996. Their newest edition, the Red Mesa Cantina at 3rd Street and 1st Avenue South in the heart of

downtown St Pete, is making its presence known in the aforementioned influential downtown area. Executive Chef Chris Fernandez, who grew up in the kitchens of Oaxaca, Mexico was exposed to a great variety of foods and flavors since the beginning of his cooking career. Chef Fernandez and the Veytias looked to their shared Latin heritage to create traditional Mexican dishes with Cuban, Caribbean and even Asian influences. As previously mentioned, we immediately zeroed in on the black bean soup, highly anticipated and well worth the wait. The entrées were big enough to feed an army. The Cedar Plank Tenderloin ($17) —“carne” served in a mild ancho cinnamon and brown sugar rub with chipotle mashed potatoes, red chile jelly, black beans and pineapple salsa; represents one of Mesa’s greatest achievements.

From coast to coast, I have tried surf and turf dishes and few match Mesa’s Chino Latino ($23), which immerses two filet mignon medallions and four juicy gulf bay shrimp in an incredibly zesty soy orange red chile mojito sauce served with a side of “congri” - a spicy cuban bean and rice side dish, covered with chimmichurri and chipotle tomato salsa. Generous and luxuriant quantities of carne mixed with the succulent shrimp are the original brainchild of Fernandez himself. The ingredients and complexity of the recipe suggest a strong Mexican influence. At the Mesa that evening, the fried yucca (cassava root) found in the Filet Mignon Chimmichurri ($16) flung off the fresh scent of lime juice and cilantro notes, as the jalapeno peppers went to work on my tongue immediately. Further flavors of the fresh guacamole continued to unfold as the bolus eased down my esophagus. In the middle, like the mother superior herself, sat the radiant taste of the sweet plantains mixed into the dish, with barely a trace of sweetness. It was a regional triumph for Red Mesa!

chihuahua chesse, poblano chilies, to the more usual ingredients like chorizo, bifstek, and pollo…a nice way to begin any meal! However, just one word of caution, be careful when ordering “extra” sides of anything, like dressings, sour cream, even onions at Red Mesa – there’s a $1 service charge tacked on for each. That was a bit of an unexpected disappointment when our bill arrived! In the end, you can find the standard cheesecake and fried ice cream selections for dessert, but why not check out the beloved guava empanada or Coconut Natilla (both $6) offering a fresh spin on mexi-southwestern desserts. These “signature” desserts employ fresh mango and guava in the empanada; and coconut, cinnamon and fresh strawberries in the natilla. Believe me these selections rounded out our delectable dinning experience with flair and style that the Latino community is so well known for. So, the bottom line, for a taste of good, old fashioned south of the Border – the Red Mesa is well worth the investment! Until next time… Buen Provecho!

Sure, you can get all the usual antojitos priced between $711 at the Mesa. Standards like tacos, taquitos, quesadillas, fried calamari and fundido – offered with an expanded roster of fillings that include

A Fairytale Ending: Mark Baker and Watermark return to gay days Weekend

O

rlando Gay Days Weekend is the biggest annual multiday gathering of gays and lesbians in the nation, drawing an estimated 150,000 to Orlando and its theme parks. This year is the 20th anniversary, and it will feature a return appearance by two respected promoters. Legendary Atlanta-based party producer Mark Baker returns with a full slate of Thursday thru Sunday events. And on Saturday night, Baker will team up with local LGBT newspaper Watermark to create the biggest party of the weekend—Stratosphere Party at Universal Studios Orlando. Baker is back to fill the void created by Johnny Chisholm, who was cut off by local theme parks for non-payment of fees last year less than six weeks before the annual gay pilgrimage to Orlando. The result was lawsuits and lastminute venue changes. Party goers were confused, attendance dropped, and many questioned the future of the big spectacle parties that have been a staple of Gay Days Weekend for more than OMG 40

a dozen years. What a difference a year makes. Watermark, the originators of the first big Gay Days Weekend party, is back with the ambitious Stratosphere Party that could attract as many as 6,000 to the Music Plaza at Universal Studios. And Baker will offer an all new host hotel, produce worldclass parties at classic venues on Thursday and Sunday night, and host late night parties at a familiar location. His name for the new party lineup: WONDERLAND∙Orlando. To understand the ‘back-tothe-future’ significance for Gay Days Weekend, some history is required. The first Gay Day took place in 1994, attracting a few hundred to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Within a few years the event was drawing tens of thousands from around the globe. In 1997, Watermark and California-based promoter Jeffrey Sanker decided to launch nighttime theme park parties. Watermark’s ‘Beach Ball’ was at Typhoon Lagoon, Sanker’s ‘One Mighty Party’ was at the Disney/MGM Studios. Both attracted larger-than-expected crowds the first year and

grew exponentially afterward. The theme park parties helped to turn Gay Days Weekend into a premiere gay travel destination. As the weekend grew, Baker introduced the Sunday night Colosseum party at Hard Rock Live, massive late night events at Arabian Nights and the Universal Studios based Stars Party. What was once a 1 day event at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom had transformed into a 4 day-plus multi-faceted event. In 2005 the parties were sold to Pensacola-based Johnny Chisholm, who continued to draw large crowds until last year, when the parties were forced out of their traditional theme park venues amidst allegations by Chisholm’s investors that he had mismanaged funds. Only the Typhoon Lagoon event remained in 2009 That was then. According to Baker, WONDERLAND∙Orlando is now. The new event line-up includes classics like Late Night @ Arabian Nights and new parties at the House of Blues, Hard Rock Live, Holiday InnWalt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando.

trange. Hermaphodite. Genius. The new Madonna. Much has been said and written about pop superstar Lady Gaga since she just danced onto the scene nearly 2 years ago. One rumor still circulating on the web largely thanks to The Vigilant Citizen (TVC) blog… Lady Gaga: puppet of the occult. Huh?

website tagline and Confucius quote: “Symbols Rule The World, Not Words Nor Laws.” The blog then offers dissections of everything from Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette” to The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus movie, offering “discoveries of occult symbols and hidden meanings in famous landmarks, songs and movies.” So who is behind this blog? My initial reaction was that this blog was being run by some Christian Extremist group. The ASK VIGILANT section of the website simply states that the author is a male in his late 20’s living in Eastern Canada. He claims to be a mystic Christian who does not subscribe to any particular Church. He also is very adamant about Lady Gaga’s illuminati symbolism being so blatantly obvious that a large part of his blog is dedicated to the analyzation of the pop superstar’s every move. Here are just some of The Vigilant Citizen blog’s unearthing of everybody’s favorite Fame Monster:

Whether you buy into anything that The Vigilant Citizen blog writes, you cannot deny some of the uncanny and obvious symbolism in their pop culture references… especially their Lady Gaga entries. Upon first visiting The Vigilant Citizen blog, users will immediately be greeted by the

THaT’S Her NaMe While she has always attributed her name as being an ode to the Queen “Radio GaGa” song, TVC interprets the name “Lady Gaga” as part of the robotic aspect of why she is a puppet of the occult. One of the first words uttered by most babies when learning

to speak is the senseless word “gaga.” The entire concept of Lady Gaga is that of a robotic personality, void of any true identity or personality, who is being programmed to entertain and brainwash the masses.

eYe See You From her debut music video “Just Dance” to her latest “Telephone” epic, Lady Gaga is constantly covering one of her eyes or her entire face with her hands, a mask, her hair and sometimes even a telephone. While most relate this hand gesture as part of the choreographed routine to her hit song “Poker Face,” the hiding of one eye is symbolic of the “All-Seeing Eye” which is explained in detail in the Dictionary of the Occult. Logo-gaga Lady Gaga’s logo is that of a headless woman with a lightning bolt going through its body. Without a head, there is no brain. Without a brain, there is no thought process. OMG 47

The lightning bolt represents a “new energy” being injected into this brainless person; symbolic of a person being brainwashed to brainwash others (a.k.a. her fans). One infamous photo shot by Markus Klinko and Indrani has the songstress decked out in Hello Kitty stuffed animals and sitting on a Masonic throne in between two symbolic pillars with the compass of Freemasonry over head. The Hello Kitty toys hark back to the singer’s childlike nature, of being susceptible and vulnerable to programming. FaMe… SHe’S goNNa LiVe ForeVer!

Fame. Her first EP is called The Fame Monster. Lady Gaga has been no stranger to wanting and craving “fame.” From the great lengths that she will go to achieve it, as evidenced in her “Paparazzi” music video and her shocking performance of the same song at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, TVC sees this “fame” as a drug. Here is this female who will murder others and sacrifice herself for “fame” which harks back to being a robot programmed to carry out orders from

From the reptilian white outfit and the exaggerated images of her spine, notable illustrations and paintings that have depicted the devil strike a very similar resemblance to those particular scenes of Lady Gaga’s most famous music video. Hey yawl, Blessed Jehovah, spring has finally come to Florida! Gone are the frigid highs of 50 degrees and the ass kicking lows of 30 degrees. If you’re a true Floridian, you would agree that this past winter was like none any Floridian has ever experienced. Personally, I do not care to ever endure anything like that again. So if you hear me or anyone complaining about how hot Florida summers are, just tell us to shut the hell up and quickly remind us of the ass freezing winter of 2009. Now that spring season is here, I’m looking forward to seeing the hot men of Orlando show off their perfect physiques. One thing rings true about hot men, gay or straight… they’ll take any opportunity to remove their shirts to parade their OMG 52

beautiful, perfect, God given, exquisite, masculine, chiseled chest around town! For this I say, “Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord, Hallelujah!” “So Ms Darcel, where can I see some really hot eye candy?” Well my love, here are a few suggested places; poolside, gyms, hiking trails, public parks (stay out of the restrooms), volleyball courts, and on Saturday mornings at Home Depot or Lowes Home Improvement Stores. If you’re looking for a hot pick up place other than the clubs or online, Home Depot and Lowes are the hot cruise spots. I know this to be true not from experience, but only on good reports (LOL). I want to thank the Gucci Boys, Jorge and Thomas, for their unyielding support to the Runway for a Cure Fashion Show, a fund raiser for the Hope

and Help Center of Central Florida. With the generous help from their friends, the boys put together an impressive raffle prize package valued well over $5,000.00 aptly named, “A Day with the Gucci Boys & their Favorite Things”. Their favorite things were donated by Michael Kors, Gucci, Celebration Cosmetics, South Orlando Dental, David yurman, JAyDE, 106.7, Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream, Grey Goose Vodka, Ed Hardy Vodka, Hot Diamonds, Rix Lounge, Salon Cielo and Spa, Blue Martini, Peroni Beer, MAC Cosmetics, Mall at Millenia, Universal Studios and Parliament House Resort just to name a few. If you’re not familiar with the Gucci Boys, both Jorge and Thomas are two outspoken socialites who enjoy meeting new people, making personal and professional connections, and using those connections to make a difference in the community. Fundraising for their favorite charities is something they

do because they want to. In doing so, so they’ve gained humility and a great sense of well being knowing that someone in need has been help by their efforts. With $1 Million dollars raised over the past 8 years for their favorite charities (Hope and Help Center of Central FL, Bridges of Light Foundation, American Heart Association, Give Kids The Word, Make A Wish Foundation, Johnny Damon Foundation, Special Olympics, and Easter Seals), I’m so proud to call these two wild, fun, bronzed, meticulous groomed citizens of Orlando, My FRIENDS! From the bottom of my heart, thank you Jorge and Thomas for all that you’ve done. Roxxy Andrews! Roxxy Andrews! Roxxy Andrews! When I heard the news that Roxxy Andrews had won Miss Continental Plus 2010, my heart soared with pure joy and excitement! Roxxy is that unique breed of entertainer who was groomed in “The Old School” traditional route, meaning she took no short cuts to learn her craft and perfect her skills. She wise-

ly watched and studied the top entertainers. She listened and adhered to other professional entertainers’ constructive criticism, and grew to be the beautiful, talented and creative entertainer who I admire and respect. After winning a few local pageants, Roxxy set her sights on winning Miss Continental Plus. year 1; Roxxy placed 3rd runner-up. year 2; she was 3rd runner-up again. year 3: Roxxy Andrews finally WINS! Orlando is so proud to welcome Roxxy Andrews into its bevy of National Title holders that include CoCo Montrese (Miss Gay America), Armani (Miss Continental), Nina Cherry (Miss Black America Plus) and Tiffany McCray (Miss Renaissance). Congratulations Roxxy Andrews, Miss Continental Plus 2010! I also want to also congratulate Electra of Ft. Lauderdale FL; the new Miss Continental Elite 2010 and Mr. Jim Flint; owner of Continental Pageantry Systems and his entire staff for consistently producing the most professionally ran contest in the USA! With an array of contestants and a packed

venue, Continental Pageants stands out above the rest and continues to be the model most often duplicated when presenting a pageant. Finally, don’t forget to check out the Miss and Mr. Metropolitan Continental Pageant Contest at 9pm on Monday April 26, 2010 at the Parliament House Resort. With only a $15.00cover and an impressive array of entertainers scheduled to appear, this event is sure to be f**king AWESOME! Beauty is only skin deep‌ ‌and so are many cancers. Many Floridians are heralding the arrival of spring by busting butt at the gym and deepfrying their dermis in tanning beds and by poolside in efforts to look fit, trim and tan. While I agree that a healthyglow is attractive, the risks associated with the use of tanning beds and direct sunexposure are significant and

UV-B has been implicated in causing DNA damage resulting in cancer. Sun strength between 10AM and 4PM is most intense in Florida, and the risk of burning is highest between these hours. The three most common forms of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma (most common), squamous cell carci-

or shoulders. Sometimes small blood vessels can be seen within the tumor. Crusting and bleeding in the center of the tumor frequently develops. It is often mistaken for a sore that does not heal. This form of cancer rarely spreads to other organs and is not a significant cause of skin-cancer related death alone. They are typically treated with local

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (from tanning beds or direct sunlight) may cause skin cancer either via direct or indirect damage to the DNA found within the cells of your skin.

can lead to long tem irreparable skin damage, cancer and death. If you are planning on doing your fair-share of sunworship this spring, consider the following:

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (from tanning beds or direct sunlight) may cause skin cancer either via direct or indirect damage to the DNA found within the cells of your skin. Overexposure (burning) to both UV-A and

noma and malignant melanoma.

Basal cell carcinoma affects areas of skin that are directly exposed to sunlight for years. The risk is increased by intentional exposure and tanaccelerators that change the refractive index of light and intensify its focus through the skin. These lesions usually look like a raised, smooth, pearly bump on the sun-exposed skin of the head, neck

surgery or radiation; scaring from these procedures can be significant and disfiguring. Squamous cell carcinoma is next in line for frequency, and is slightly more common then BCC, but also has a relatively low metastasis rate. These lesions appear as red, scaling, thickened patches on sun-exposed skin. Some are firm, hard nodules and can be dome shaped. Lesions located at the lips, ears, or in

immunocompromised patients carry an increased rate of spread, and need aggressive treatment. Again, surgery and radiation, sometimes with topical chemotherapy is needed to treat these lesions. Melanoma usually presents as brown to black colored lesions. Unfortunately, a few melanomas are pink, red or fleshy in color; these are called amelanotic (no color) melanomas. Warning signs that might indicate a malignant melanoma include change in size, shape, color or elevation of a mole. Other signs are the appearance of a new mole during adulthood or new pain, itching, ulceration or bleeding. These rules should be applied to all skin lesions and require prompt evaluation by a health care provider. When considering if any new lesion you notice should receive evaluation and routine monitoring by your physician, use the ABCDE rule to evaluate: A- Asymmetry: Normal moles or freckles are completely symmetrical. If you were to draw a line through a normal spot, you would have two symmetrical halves. In cases of skin cancer, spots will not look the same on both sides. B- Border: Does your mole or spot have

blurry and/or jagged edges? C- Color: A mole that is more than one hue is suspicious and needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Normal spots are usually one color. This can include lightening or darkening of the mole. D- Diameter: If it is larger than a pencil eraser (about 1/4 inch or 6mm), it needs to be examined by a doctor. This is includes areas that do not have any other abnormalities (color, border, asymmetry). E- Elevation/Evolution: Elevation means the mole is raised above the surface and has an uneven surface. Evolution refers to lesions that are rapidly changing or growing and need immediate evaluation. Here are a few tips on helping to prevent sun-related skin damage and reduce the chances of unsightly lumps and bumps so you can strut the surf with confidence. First, always apply sunscreen with minimum SPF 15 – especially to consistently sun-exposed areas such as the nose, ears, forehead and face. Apply liberally and often if you’re outdoors; even water/sweat proof products need regular re-application. Make sure that your sunscreen protects from both UVA and UVB light, as

both carry risks for damage to skin structures. Finally, remember to limit your time to direct sunlight exposure, especially in the peak times of UV-radiation. Keep your skin covered with breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen and wear polarized sunglasses to protect those baby-blues, as the layer of cells surfacing the eyes are equally endangered by UV radiation. Pay attention all you beach bums and pool-side party queens. Though you may be feeling fierce with your summer glow, it won’t be long before unsightly spots have you running for the shade! Please e-mail questions or concerns to doctordan@omgmag.com and look for answers to your questions in upcoming issues. This column is intended to address concerns, not to evaluate, diagnose or treat any medical conditions. All personal health decisions should be made in coordination with your health care provider.

It’s “Dirrty” all over again and when the club mixes hit we should be singing this one all summer. That MTV 3-way with Madonna & Britney must have left a lasting impression…. All Is Love – Sash Forget the pharmaceuticals, all you need is this song and a sunny day. Sounding a bit like the classic “Beachball” by Nalin & Kane our bitchy program director BC picked this as his current “aural mood stabilizer”. Listen to it more…oh Flex-leader…all the staff loves you calm and happy! Beauty In The World – Macy Gray A true joyful summer anthem. Take some feel-good hand claps, the oft-used “throw your hands up’ line and a lyric about a hopeful world full of beauty. We need more songs like this. Getting’ Over You – David GuetOMG 60

With intro keyboards that remind me of the best 70’s Rock it implodes into an electro anthem of hindsight. Originally released last year it has been pumped up with Fergie’s gospel plea to all the people in the house and a rap by LMFAO. I gotta feeling this will be massive. ADVICE ON BUILDING CONFIDENCE

From an arrogant bastard By Gary Randall

S

o you are looking around the room thinking of how confident, good looking, and fun everyone is. Then you look at yourself and wonder what am I missing? Every person in that room, on some level is thinking the same thing. What you are missing are the tricks to finding confidence. So here they are. you’re welcome. Fake it: If you are discontent and force yourself to smile it tricks your brain into feeling happy. Confidence works the same way. Don’t delude yourself, just other people. Their positive reactions help create real confidence. And faking confidence is a positive thing, whereas faking other things…

Confidence vs. Self esteem: Self esteem involves how you actually feel about yourself. Confidence just effects how you act. One can be faked, which in turn nurtures the other. Learn your secret recipe: Everyone has a feature that attracts other people. you may be witty, intelligent, have great cleavage or an impressive sixth toe. Isolate the main reason people like you, and use it to your advantage. Comparisons: We create our self image by comparison to everyone else. Before college I compared myself to high schoolers—and found myself ahead. After college I compared myself to young professionals, and found myself behind. Change the group of people you compare yourself to. your life isn’t so bad compared to M.C Hammers, is it? Do not flaunt: People that flaunt material possessions, status, or money throw these things in people’s faces to cover their crippling insecurity. Instead, they should erase it with a smile and a handshake. And a booty tooch, if the moment so requires. Going out vs. Staying in: Take the road less traveled. If you stay in you will sit on the sofa eating beef jerky, ice cream and Tostitos and watch re-runs of reality tv. If you go out you might meet new people or do things you’ve never imagined doing. Just stay away from port-a-pot-

ties after dark. Re: Your appearance. Be optimistic: Get naked right now and look in the mirror. Really assess yourself. For every negative thought, think of two positive ones. Even if they are abstract and conditional—like that hideous green sweater you horde in case one day God turns you turn into a leprechaun. Whatever it takes to give yourself a compliment. Make a list of yourself: Pros and cons. Then go over the cons and decide what you need to change, and what you can teach yourself to love. Then go over the pro’s and smile. Then start changing. Shut up: Stop bitching about yourself because nobody wants to hear it. And stop fishing for compliments. See the previous trick. Use people’s insecurity: If your friends are scared to do something, take initiative and do it. Being a leader builds confidence. Getting arrested does too. Use. Judgement. We are a society of “others”. We put everyone into the category of “other” and assume they are happier, or more attractive, or more confident. The truth is we are all sad, happy, shy, outgoing, uncommonly beautiful, and terribly ugly. So look at yourself right now. And smile. Booty tooch. And memorize these tricks!

Nursing home administrators know that such photos are proof that they were aware of the development and deterioration of injuries such as bed sores or ulcers and will be used against them in litigation. you should therefore take photographs of the physical signs of neglect, abuse or malnutrition whenever possible.

Keep your eye on any violations. If you know the facility has been cited for any violations during the six months prior to your loved one’s injury, you can take steps to avoid a repetition with your loved one and it will be hard for the management to later claim that they were not aware that their system was inadequate.

Both corporate structure and low insurance coverages are designed to discourage lawsuits and to shield assets while the profits go to a parent company somewhere hidden in the background. In addition, ex-employees will know whether the facility knowingly included staff from the Social Services Department or Activities Department in the staffing ratio computations even though these individuals never provided any nursing care to your loved one. Exemployees are well aware of when the nursing home keeps names of former employees on the monthly schedules to give state and federal inspectors the false impression that the facility is in compliance with staffing requirements when in reality, the facility is understaffed. Finally, nothing is more helpful than to have an ex-management level employee testify that repeated requests for more staff were made to corporate headquarters but were denied because it wasn’t in the budget. Get to know the in-house physician. Find out if the inhouse physician is also the medical director of the facility. Unlike a hospital setting, a nursing home does not have a physician on the prem-

ises. Doctors are required to see a new admission within 48 hours but after that, one visit per month is all that is required. Between the visits, the physician relies totally on the nursing staff to notify him or her of any change in the resident’s condition. The testimony of the physician is usually that he was never notified of the changes in the resident’s condition and, had he been, he would have

entered new orders or hospitalized his patient. When the doctor is also the medical director of the facility, he or she is more likely to side with the nursing home and be an adverse witness to his patient. Go with your loved one to the emergency room when possible. Typically a resident who has been abused and neglected for months will eventually suffer some

form of acute episode which requires transfer to an emergency room. Very often the nursing home chart will not even mention several of the most serious problems that are discovered later in an emergency room, and it is essential for the ER treating physicians and nurses to opine that these problems arose in the nursing home and not in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

hen television first appeared in the 1940's, times were incredibly different. What we believe is completely normal today would have been outlawed just a few decades ago. In 1953, Lucille Ball of I Love Lucy could not mention the word "pregnant" while she was expecting baby Ricky and it wasn't until the 1960's television show Bewitched where audiences first witnessed a married couple that actually shared the same bed. Considering how old school television networks were, it’s not difficult to presume that the topic of homosexuality specifically lesbianism would be far from discussed or portrayed at all. In 1973, the first homosexual character debuted on television. Over the next three decades, the appearance of lesbian characters on television fluctuated. In the ea rly 1980’s, homosexual topics were kept to a minimum. The 1990’s began flirting with more lesbian characters on television. The appearance of lesbian characters drastically increased in the 2000’s.

The L Word was a series on Showtimes that followed the lives of lesbian and bisexual characters in the Los Angeles area. The show garnered critical raves and popularity with audiences and aired for a solid 6 seasons.

photo courtesy of MGM Worldwide Television; Showtime

Friends, the most popular show on television at the time featured a lesbian wedding that some NBC affiliates refused to air. Despite the refusal, that particular episode was the most watched show the week that it aired.

Even if the numbers of lesbian characters on television have increased, are the representations truthful of lesbian love? Can these written lesbian characters demonstrate how they really feel for each other? Are they permitted to put across the emotional intimacy that the heterosexual couples are allowed to express? The answer sadly is still no. Ellen Degeneres made a splash in the late 1990's when her character as well herself publicly came out as a lesbian on her ABC show Ellen. Her "coming out" episode was the talk of Hollywood and a huge hit in ratings. The show's viewership quickly plummeted only for the series to get Time magazine cover; April 14, 1997 canceled the very next year.
