FROM PRESIDENT Looking back at 2016, we started early in advance with major projects that are taking place in 2017. We received 660 entries for the World Stage Design Exhibition (WSD2017) and 139 performance applications for Scenofest from 60 countries across five continents. The exhibition ‘Costume at the Turn of the Century 19902015’ travelled to the University of North Carolina, Asheville and had its debut in North America. The ‘World Costume Festival’ successfully completed in Vigan City, the Philippines. Last year, OISTAT gained valuable feedback from the young generation through the ‘Core Strategy’ project. Participating students presented their fabulous final report for the Executive Committee and Governing Board in Taipei, Taiwan. Their insightful observations are the fresh eyes that provide the organization new ways of reaching out to the emerging young generation. In today’s ever-changing world, OISTAT honors the importance in connecting with theatre people at different age, race, culture and profession. I am very proud to see our first Core Strategy project came to a temporary end and I am certainly looking forward to future collaboration with more potential schools and young talents. In 2016, we welcomed the new Education commission Chair, William Kenyon (USA), and Vice Chair Anders Larsson (Sweden). In the Architecture commission, we welcomed the Chair Tim Foster (UK), and the three Vice Chairs Martien van Goor (the Netherlands), Reinhold Daberto (Germany) and Torsten Nobling (Sweden). We also welcome our new Associate Members T.K. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts (Kazakhstan), A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum (Russia) and new Individual Members Marcelo Jaureguiberry (Argentina), Doris Rollemberg (Brazil), Flor Dias (Brazil), Claudia Suarez (Chile), Jose Manuel Castanheira (Portugal), Ivana Bakal (Croatia), Sabine Dargent (Ireland), Adeshina Vincent Ayodele (Nigeria),

Chan Chun Huang (Taiwan), Mahdi Troudi (Tunisia), Michael Ramsaur (USA), Kevin Rigdon (USA) and Susan Mickey (USA). Over the past 12 months, OISTAT left footprints in Salt Lake City, USA, Taipei, Taiwan, Moscow & St. Petersburg, Russia, Stockholm & Drottningholm, Sweden, Rotterdam & Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Seville, Spain. In 2017, we will continue to provide a platform that overcomes cultural and geographical barriers, offering theatre lovers worldwide opportunities to share, interact and cooperate. I invite you to embark on this beautiful journey with us. OISTAT, for the first time in history, will be presenting World Stage Design, the World Congress, Scenofest, the Theatre Architecture Competition and the Technical Invention Prize all in the same year. See you there!
