Club: CFTR Favorite FTR memory from the 2014-2015 season? Putting on the AMA National/FTR Hare Scrambles in Bartow; I was very proud of CFTR's effort. What was the best track we raced on? I always love Mondon Hill. How do you train for racing? I do interval training on treadmill, rowing machine, stepper and bicycle three times per week plus two days of general agility and strength with Davis Training Systems. I take Fridays before race weekends off since I generally race both Saturday and Sunday. It is a major expenditure of energy for sure. I can't always keep the regimen due to travel but I try. Does racing teach you anything about

yourself/ others?

next season: Spark arrestors are

mandatory and correct numberplates will be enforced. Turn the page for more information.

I have been surprised in a very positive way that the racers in FTR would be so willing to help in almost any situation. Whether on the trail after a get-off or in the parking lot taking down the camp, I can always count on FTR folk to help and be contribute in a positive way. We have a great group. I have learned to contribute to pay it forward seeing how others are doing it to make these events happen.

Sponsors or anyone to thank? I want to thank Kyle Turnis for tuning suspension and prepping my bikes all season long; Derek Tremain for building a monster XR350R which I rode to win this championship; the Berard and Gawler families for making me part of their family at events, complete with cheering section - these are great folks; David Jensen for being a classy competitor; and, wife, Wendy, who will never see this, for her patience and indulgence in letting me do this sport, as crazy as it is. What's the best advice you've ever heard? "Go slow to go fast," from Shane Watts. I have taken this to heart; I don't ride too fast but I try to be consistent and smooth. Using that idea, I was able to move from Beginner in 2011, to C in 2012, to B in 2013 and A in 2014. Fun.

JS: Nathan, tell me more about yourself? Where do you live now? NM: I live in Margate, Florida. JS: What was your first motorcycle memory? NM: When I was at my house and I had a Suzuki PW 50; my dad taught me how to ride it. After dinner we went out and started riding and I wouldn’t stop riding it until I had to go to sleep. JS: How old were you then? NM: Seven...and then my friend Christian got a Honda CRF150F...he was a lot older than me and then he got one for Christmas and I was talking

to my dad, I was like: ‘Dad, I really need to get a bigger bike because I’m on a 50 and...there is no way I’m going to be able to keep up with him.’ Then like two weeks later me and my dad started looking on Craigslist and we found a Honda CRF 100R and we went and looked at that and it was

It’s the best-sized bike I’ve had so far. JS: That’s cool. Tell me about your first race this season. NM: My first race was Brighton at Hare Scrambles #10. After that race, I was hooked! I couldn’t wait for any of the races; it was all I could think about the next day at school, I was like I need to get my grades up so I can get stuff from my parents for racing, like maybe a neck brace or a new chest protector so I can try to keep it safe because all the kids have them on and I’m racing with all these kids and they’re pretty fast and if I get into a big wreck I don’t want anything bad to happen. JS: For sure. I just got a neck brace for the first time and now I won’t ride without it. It makes a difference,

JS: What else do you do besides race? NM: I fish a lot; fresh water and salt water and I also ride bicycles, mountain bikes and BMX bikes. That sort of stuff. JS: Who do you look up to as far as your racing idol?
