The Newberry College Wolves are a force to be reckoned with in the South Atlantic Conference. Competing in 24 NCAA Division II sports, including fielding South Carolina’s only collegiate women’s triathlon team, Newberry also offers competitive cheerleading and dance and boasts an esports program that won a national championship in just its second year of existence.

COMPLETE THE FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID)

File your FAFSA at fafsa.gov. Newberry College's school code is 003440. Complete your annual FAFSA as soon as possible between October 1 and June 30 before the academic year for which you are applying. This is the most important step in completing your financial aid request. It is the basis for federal and state financial aid, and most aid is first-come, first-served.

REVIEW THE STUDENT AID REPORT

Once you complete the FAFSA, the Department of Education will mail or email your results and any possible errors that need to be corrected.

Once you complete the FAFSA, the Department of Education may select you for verification. If you are selected, we will alert you and inform you of any items we may need. It is very important that you submit these to us as quickly as possible.

Right off campus, historic downtown Newberry is a place to go for a pleasant day of shopping and dining or to experience cultural enrichment at the Newberry Arts Center or the Newberry Opera House, and only 20 minutes away lies beautiful Lake Murray. The “Jewel of South Carolina” has been ranked as one of the 100 best lakes in America and offers limitless opportunities for waterrelated recreational activities, while nearby Dreher Island State Park features 348 acres of access to three islands and 12 miles of Lake Murray shoreline for hiking, fishing, and camping.

Miles of beautiful, sun-drenched beach front isn’t the only thing Myrtle Beach has to offer. Water parks, amusement adventures, museums, shopping, and restaurants are just a few of the fun times you’ll find on the coast.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are a national treasure of nature’s splendor. Spend a day hiking among the towering trees, babbling streams, and flowering meadows to refresh your spirit. Nearby Asheville also offers an abundance of museums, gardens, and art centers, as well as tours of the majestic Biltmore Estate.

3. CHARLESTON

Charleston is the gem of the Southeast, and you’ll see why as you stroll through its charming historic streets. City Market, Fort Sumter, the Battery, and the South Carolina Aquarium are just a few of the ways you can fill up a weekend.

4. COLUMBIA

Columbia offers an abundance of destinations, including Lake Murray, rivers, parks, gardens, and Riverbanks Zoo–one of the best in the country. The city is home to great shopping and dining on Harbison as well as superb nightlife in the Vista.

5. GREENVILLE

This progressive city is loaded with fun activities, places to explore, trendy downtown shopping, and dining. Visit the Greenville Zoo, stroll through Falls Park on the Reedy, or do some hiking at Paris Mountain State Park for a memorable experience.

WOLVES DIVISION II ATHLETICS

The Newberry College Wolves are an athletic force to be reckoned with. Newberry fields 24 NCAA Division II teams, including South Carolina’s only collegiate women’s triathlon program, as well as championship-caliber cheerleading and dance. Our men’s golf team achieved the highest cumulative GPA, edging out Harvard, and the second phase of an $11,000,000 expansion of our historic football stadium, Setzler Field, has begun.

ESPORTS

Newberry College officially launched esports as an intercollegiate sport in 2019, won a national championship in just its second year of existence, and recently added a fifth gaming title after expanding its co-education roster. A member of the New England Collegiate Conference and supported by the National Association of Collegiate Esports, the Newberry program offers intercollegiate competition in “League of Legends,” “Madden,” “Overwatch,” “Fortnite,” and “Rocket League.” Participation comes with structured training, competitions, and scholarships.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS

Intramural sports are a great way to get active, get to know people throughout campus, and participate in organized sports. We offer intramural programs such as four-on-four flag football, basketball, soccer, and slow pitch softball throughout the academic year.

FIRST 56 INITIATIVE

This initiative features a variety of events during each of the first 56 days of both the fall and spring semesters. The goal is to create a vibrant environment for campus engagement that all students, from our freshmen to our graduating seniors, can enjoy. The program takes its name from 1856, the year the college was founded.

WOLF PACK WELCOME

Wolf Pack Welcome is a one-day event designed for freshmen and transfer students and their families to give you your first glimpse of life at Newberry College. You’ll learn about campus facilities and resources, finalize your academic schedule, and meet with your advisor. It’s also an opportunity to connect with new classmates and get acquainted with faculty, staff, and coaches.

HOWL EFFECT WELCOME

Howl Effect is Newberry College’s welcome retreat for all first-year students in August. This exciting program features a variety of activities to help you get off to a great start at Newberry College. You’ll go through check-in, meet your College Life 101 instructor, and explore opportunities to get involved on campus at the Student Organization Fair. You’ll also prepare for our annual lip-sync showcase and much more. We’ll conclude with the Candle Lighting Ceremony, an annual tradition to officially welcome first-year students to the Newberry College family.
