HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLVES

Wolves Division Ii Athletics

The Newberry College Wolves are an athletic force to be reckoned with. Newberry fields 24 NCAA Division II teams, including South Carolina’s only collegiate women’s triathlon program, as well as championship-caliber cheerleading and dance. Our men’s golf team achieved the highest cumulative GPA, edging out Harvard, and the second phase of an $11,000,000 expansion of our historic football stadium, Setzler Field, has begun.

Esports

Newberry College officially launched esports as an intercollegiate sport in 2019, won a national championship in just its second year of existence, and recently added a fifth gaming title after expanding its co-education roster. A member of the New England Collegiate Conference and supported by the National Association of Collegiate Esports, the Newberry program offers intercollegiate competition in “League of Legends,” “Madden,” “Overwatch,” “Fortnite,” and “Rocket League.” Participation comes with structured training, competitions, and scholarships.

Intramural Sports

Intramural sports are a great way to get active, get to know people throughout campus, and participate in organized sports. We offer intramural programs such as four-on-four flag football, basketball, soccer, and slow pitch softball throughout the academic year.

“My experience at Newberry College has been extraordinary. I came in as a small fish in a big sea not knowing what direction I was going to take. I’ve met friends from all over the world who have helped me through tough times. All the laughter and love they’ve given me goes beyond the thanks I could ever show them. Newberry has taught me gratitude and perseverance. When gratitude is learned you start to enjoy your successes even more and you deserve that.”
