Girls Matter! A Webinar Series Addressing Adolescent Girls Behavioral Health This six-part webinar series, Girls Matter, provides research, best practice and critical thinking on the topics that professionals working with girls and young women must know. Each session addresses a key area of what matters to adolescent girls today—including challenges, opportunities, and strategies for supporting girls.

SAMHSA has created this webinar series to: •

Increase the behavioral health workforce’s understanding of the needs and concerns of adolescent girls (primarily ages 12-18) Bring visibility and attention to the specific behavioral health concerns of adolescent girls

SAMHSA Behavioral Health Disaster Response Mobile App Offers first responders immediate access to field resources for aiding disaster survivors. Has the ability to search for and map behavioral health service providers in the impacted area, review emergency preparedness materials, and send resources to colleagues.

The first webinar will be: Growing Up Girl: Adolescent Development and the Unique Issues Facing Girls 2/25

The Anonymous People 1-Day Only Event Saturday, March 1 The Anonymous People tells the story of the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. The 88-minute film will be offered as a free online stream – for 24 hours only. In addition, filmmaker Greg Williams, Hazelden’s William Cope Moyers and others will answer viewers’ questions in a live discussion at 5 p.m. Eastern.

The American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking Facilitator Training The American Lung Association in Nevada is offering the Facilitator Training for our adult smoking cessation program, Freedom From Smoking (FFS). The training now also includes certification in performing a brief intervention for tobacco dependence, using the 5As Model. FFS is a seven-week clinic that includes comprehensive behavior modification techniques, including Motivational Interviewing training, and deals with both the physical and psychological addictive nature of nicotine.

Job Opportunity The Director’s Office of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an individual to fill a part-time temporary position as Statewide Coordinator of the Nevada 2-1-1 system.
