Accelerating Achievement Every student Every classroom Every day

the nicolet mystique BY DR. KOBYLSKI Our continuing goal at Nicolet is not just to be a good school system but a great one. Great schools dare to care; they offer a future and a hope; teach young people to dream and show them how to make these dreams a reality. Great schools believe that every single student is talented in some way. They say to their students: “You can achieve your dreams if you are prepared to work for it.” Great schools have a high level of parent and community involvement. NHS has very active parent organizations whose members are dedicated to helping provide quality experiences for all students. We encourage all parents to get involved in their child’s education by helping out at any of our many school activities Good schools do things well. Great schools have the buzz of excellence. It’s where students come to excel. Nicolet has been recognized as a great school for decades. You can literally feel the aura of learning when you enter the building. It’s the Nicolet Mystique. Here are some recent examples (as of Nov. 13, 2013) of what makes Nicolet great: • Six Nicolet students recorded perfect scores on the ACT college admission and placement test in one year (from June 2012 to June 2013). On average, less than one-tenth of one percent of ACT exam takers earns a perfect score. • Fourteen Nicolet seniors are semifinalists in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program competition, and seven other seniors were named Commended Students by the Program. • Nicolet teacher John Rhude was named Wisconsin’s Outstanding Biology Teacher for 2013 by the National Association of Biology Teachers. • Nicolet was named one of the top Advanced Placement (AP) districts in the nation by the College Board. • Nicolet has a five-acre forest, officially recognized as the Nicolet School Forest, which is enrolled in Wisconsin’s School Forest Program. • At the edge of the forest sits Nicolet’s new Outdoor Environmental Center. The 30-foot by 40-foot center serves as an outdoor classroom. • Nicolet is the only public high school in the state offering Hebrew. • Nicolet is one of the few high schools in the state offering college math courses beyond AP. Students who have successfully completed AP Calculus can take College Calculus 3 and 4 and receive 8 college credits through an articulation agreement with Cardinal Stritch University. The following pages highlight some additional accomplishments as well as many of the outstanding opportunities available to our students. The Nicolet community is a great place to live and learn. Our historic commitment to progressive and sustainable change is what sets us apart. See for yourself.

Superintendent Robert Kobylski, Ed. D.
