arades have also become an integral part of the holiday in cities and towns across the United States. Presented by Macy’s department store since 1924, New York City’s Thanksgiving Day parade is the largest and most famous, attracting some 2 to 3 million spectators along its 2.5-mile route and drawing an enormous television audience. It typically features marching bands, performers, elaborate floats conveying various celebrities and giant balloons shaped like cartoon characters.

I suggest you try to sign up and try it in person. In this article I want to thank June Trekins (and I invite you to search for her photos on Flickr) for the photos she shot in Sansar. (Unfortunately my Internet connection fails to support the minimum required! Sigh!) In the same issue of this month you can find more information about sansar, I just have to leave you reading and curiosity! 37

eginning in the mid-20th century and perhaps even earlier, the president of the United States has “pardoned one or two Thanksgiving turkeys each year, sparing the birds from slaughter and sending them to a farm for retirement. A number of U.S. governors also perform the annual turkey pardoning ritual.

ow many times have we stopped thinking about whether there were freebies or group gifts? Often and willingly, right? But let's talk about gifts for which it's worth having your heart-shaped eyes! Well, it's not so easy to find something really appetizing for our tastes (and our billfold). For this reason, you need to become specialized in this kind of research. First of all, it is useful to have an idea of what to look for especially if you are a new user and in this article I want to show you different websites and socials where you can find all the information and all updated references to find freebies or dollerbies!

94

95

W

e start with Fickr, almost ever yone knows it and it's a socialnetwork for all SL photographers, designers and bloggers. However, there are several groups dedicated entirely to sharing freebies and other gifts, but you have to be quite fussy in searching because often in photos we can find "free-not-free" items, however the most in-sight groups are these: "Fabulously Free in SL" and "Second Life Freebies (Ads Only)". FabFree has become famous over the years for its rich community that shares the value from 0L$ to 100L$ items ever y day on the group, furthermore FabFree is a shared blog among many guys and girls who show how easy it is to get a fashionable avatar without spending too much.

96

97

98

B

ut it does not end here, there are also many facebook pages devoted entirely to freeshopping and these are phenomenal because you can stay up to date with a notification on your smartphone! It's fast, practical and above all it's easy to share with friends. In my ranking of these pages you find: "ShiftingReality", "Teleport Hub" and "SL - Freeholic". In all these pages (there are countless like this!) You can find previews, landmarks, useful information at the speed that only a social network like Facebook could give.

99

F

inally, there is HUNT SL: a site where all the present and future Hunts of our virtual game are updated. HUNT SL always guarantees all the basic and useful information for those who, like me, want to challenge themselves with the aim of getting the best prize from favorite stores. I've always found this blog ver y well str uctured, simple but great for the pur pose it possesses, also releases all references to contacting the organizers or tracking the website for more information like "clues" and previews. In a nutshell, shopping free is difficult (not impossible!) but we have the means and people who contribute to this fantastic offer, you just have to know where to look!

ecently I bumped into a blog of one of the SL users who wrote about meeting a newbie with whom he established a nice conversation to find out how he's living his experience in SL I found this article very interesting and therefore, for this month, I interviewed a "noob" asking him almost the same questions. I found great enthusiasm and this can only be positive, after all it means that SL always has good quality and gives a good impression on its new members. Try reading this interview and comparing it to your impressions of when you started playing, enjoy the reading!

hat do you think of this world so far?

I'm actually enjoying myself a lot since I signed in. It's the best way I found to be the real me, true to who I truly am without being made fun of. Here I found a proper family who doesn't question my choices or oblige me to be something I'm not. This world has properly changed my life so far and it keeps on surprising me: I recently found out that there are a lot of fund raising for disease or things like that. It's not only great fun, but it also has a humanitarian purpose. What can be the advantages of this play? As already said, in Second Life you can be your true self without worrying about the real world. You can be woman or man, gay or straight, big or small regardless of your true identity. It's great to be yourself for even just a couple of hours a day.

109

D

o you know many people meet their real-life partner or friend here?

I've heard about that. It's heartwarming and pretty moving to know that your true love doesn't have to be next door for you to have an "happy ending", it could be a thousand miles away that you, with just an Internet connection, could find it anyway. It's pretty awesome! That's not my case, I met my partner in real life, but it's a relief to know that a lot of people who aren't as lucky as me could have a chance anyway. •So, you think the creators of attractive content in Second Life are to be blamed for people wasting their time with their avatars? I don't think it's wasting time staying here. It's just a taking your own life and taking to another place. True, with Second Life you spend a lot of time at home, but for some people it's not very different from real life. For example, I don't have a lot of friends, so my life has always revolved around tv series and movies. Not much fresh air or sun. Here I found some friends to talk to and spend some time with. It's actually pretty helpful for my mental health. •How old are you, again? (days) I'm at the moment 43 days old. I'm still a young boy!
