Colegio Arubano Oranjestad doet mee met project good for the neighborhood van Arubabank 2010. Leerlingen: Jearoy Croes, Danielle de Kool, Nieya van Nie en Renzo di Bono uit H3 en V3 Begeleiders: Everick Rincones Bijgestaan door: Ryma Rincones - van der Linde, Zaira van der Linde, Ricky Arends , Jennifer Arends - Reyes en andere docenten die op hun vrije zaterdagen hebben meegholpen. We bedanken iedereen die op een of andere manier heeft meegeholpen aan het volbrengen van dit project.
“Vandaag 1 juni 2011 is mijn laatste dag als wnd. rector, belast met de leiding van Colegio Arubano. Ik wil hierbij iedereen bedanken die in mij het vertrouwen heeft gesteld om deze job ten dienste van Colegio Arubano (het bestuur, de leerlingen, het onderwijsgevend en niet- onderwijsgevend personeel) uit te oefenen. Mijn collega’s schoolleiders spreek ik mijn grote waardering uit voor het enorme geduld dat ze hebben gehad om met mij samen te werken. Hailenne, Jeanine, Ethelyne, Jolita, Mena, Digna, Rudy en George wil ik ook speciaal bedanken voor hun verrichte werk ter ondersteuning van onze werkzaamheden. Deze praktische opdracht sluit aan bij de opdracht van het praktijkwerk dat jullie op school uitvoeren. Dit betekent dat deze opdracht door hetzelfde groepje wordt gemaakt. Uitgaande van het thema ‘Stad’ zijn jullie bezig met het ontwerpen van de verpakking voor een parfum.Tevens zijn jullie bezig met een reclamecampagne in de vorm van een advertentie en een poster voor jullie product. Voor deze praktische opdracht wordt jullie campagne uitgebreid met een promotiefilmpje dat geïnspireerd moet zijn op en informatie moet verschaffen over de door jullie gekozen grote stad. In dit filmpje moet het verleidelijk zijn voor het publiek om jullie product te kopen.

Maart 30 2011 Het zaalvoetbaltoernooi was een project van de l.o. herkansingsprogramma van de studenten: Jennifer, Tanee, Tirshiana, JeanirĂŠe, Deisy, Elvin, Marcy, Sabrina, Lilian en docent RU. Het was een heel succesvol toernooi geweest met veel deelnemers zo wel jongens als meisjes het was heel leuk.

This is the true story of George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi, who was going to bed when his wife told him that he’d left the light on in the shed. George opened the door to go turn off the light but saw there were people in the shed in the process of stealing things. He immediately phoned the police, who asked “Is someone in your house?” and George said no and explained the situation. Then they explained that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available. MOTHER: Why on earth did you swallow the money I gave you? JUNIOR: You said it was my lunch money. Once there were four business men. They were sitting on a bench in a hospital waiting room because their wives were having babies. A nurse comes over and says to the first businessman, “Congratulations! Your wife had 1 baby.” The man says, “What a coincidence! I’m the president of And1!” The nurse goes away. Then the nurse comes back and says to the second businessman, “Congratulations! Your wife had twins!” The man says, “What a coincidence! I’m the owner of the Minnesota Twins!” The nurse goes away. The nurse comes back and says to the third businessman, “Congratulations! Your wife had triplets!” The man says, “What a coincidence! I work for Triple Crown!” The nurse goes away. The nurse comes back and sees the fourth businessman alone on the bench crying. She asks, “Why are you crying”? The man replies, “I work for Seven Up”!!
A blonde and a brunette were watching the 11:00 news. There’s a story about a guy jumping off of a bridge. The blonde says to the brunette “ Hey, I bet ya $10,= he doesn’t jump.” The brunette says okay, “I bet ya $10,= he does.” They watch the rest of the broadcast. There was an old man sitting on his porch watching the rain fall. Pretty soon the water was coming over the porch and into the house. The old man was still sitting there when a rescue boat came and the people on board said, “You can’t stay here you have to come with us.” The old man replied, “No, God will save me.” So the boat left. A little while later the water was up to the second floor, and another rescue boat came, and again told the old man he had to come with them. The old man again replied, “God will save me.” So the boat left him again. An hour later the water was up to the roof and a third rescue boat approached the old man, and tried to get him to come with them. Again the old man refused to leave stating that, “God will save him.” So the boat left him again. Soon after, the man drowns and goes to heaven, and when he sees God he asks him, “Why didn’t you save me?” God replied, “You dummy! I tried. I sent three boats after you!!” There were three men on a hill with their watches. The first man threw his watch down the hill and it broke. The second man threw his watch down the hill and it broke. The third man threw his watch down the hill, walked all the way to the bottom, and caught it. The other two men were puzzled and asked the third man how he did it. The third man said, “Easy. My watch is 5 minutes slow!”

Starting September the 1st, 2011, the University of Aruba (UA) will be developing and implementing University policies that are more environmentally friendly. As a university we aim to become a more environmentally conscious organization. The focus will be to introduce 3 new environmental policies: 1. Designated Smoking Areas; 2. Single Stream Recycling of Organic and Recyclable Waste; 3. Clean & Energy Saving University Facilities.
Designated Smoking Areas There will be designated smoking areas at the UA. These areas were selected to comply with survey findings from UA community in 2010. Having these areas will serve as an important step towards a fire safe and clean university. Signs will be placed to indicate the Designated Smoking Areas and the Non-Smoking Areas. Designated Smoking Areas have seating areas and ashtrays. For the Designated Smoking Areas the wind direction has been taken into consideration.
The Designated Smoking Areas: • Southside La Salle Building (LSB); • Parking space UA; • Main entrance patio, South side; • Aula North side, till the parallel walkway; • CEC balcony.
Single Stream Recycling Organic and Recyclable Waste In cooperation with Eco Tech, the UA will engage in a community incentive to separate waste in two categories: Organic Waste and Recyclable Waste.
Organic Waste Plastic bags are used for: - Leaves and grass; - Food and vegetables; - Foam boxes; - Toilet paper.

For the waste separation of organic and recyclable waste, labeled bins will be available at the: - CEC-kitchen; - LSB cafeteria; - A-building; - Main entrance LSB; - APEX-building, first and second floor. Specific for paper, a bin will be placed in the copy rooms of LSB, CEC, and APEX.

Clean & Energy Saving University Facilities During 2010 attention is paid to various aspects to keep classrooms and other general areas clean. On doors “No food or drink!” signs are now placed. This has improved the cleanliness of UA rooms. However, more cooperation in enforcing this rule is asked for the new academic year. The UA is also focusing on energy and water saving. This focus includes: - Replacing lamps with energy saving bulbs; - Automatic shutdown of computers in the Computer Lab when not in use; - AC’s and lights are turned off in classrooms not in use. The benefits of LED lights are being studied based on the return on investment. The CEC-kitchen and toilets renovation project will be used as a pilot project for the use of LED light at the UA. Another water saving project to be executed is the implementation of a drip irrigation system at the LSB, which also contributes to the job efficiency of the maintenance employee. All of these changes will make the UA a more environment friendly and health conscious institution.
