Ladies and Gentlemen, A fair is more than just a place. It is a meeting of people. Such meetings always evoke emotions, which are in fact the quintessence of today’s fair. The other important ingredients include a dynamic and interesting presentation of the upcoming trends as well as an exchange of knowledge and views among experts. We have been taking care of all the ingredients for many years, organizing fair events and congresses. Additionally, a fair also stands for competition in renowned contests of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie for such prestigious awards as the Gold Medal and Acanthus Aureus. The finishing year, 2O14, leaves us with lots of memories. I believe the coming years will also leave a mark in your memory by means of passion and professionalism of the whole team of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie. Our Company is still developing, trying to meet the needs of its partners and customers. It offers much more than just a place, modern infrastructure and professional services of fair events, conferences and congresses. I am very pleased that I was given the chance to be the leader of the Fair over the last five years, from 2OO9 to 2O14. It was the period of global crisis Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie managed to go through successfully, increasing its exhibition market share, the number of fair events in Poland and abroad, the number of Polish and foreign visitors, as well as it managed to modernize its fair and congress infrastructure and take over the management of Lublin Fair. Together with my friends, the vice chairman Przemysław Trawa and Tomasz Kobierski, I would like to thank all our partners and guests, who contributed to the fair success. I myself will be at your disposal as far as the promotion of your companies, industry, agriculture and services in France is concerned, as this is where I was delegated to become our country’s ambassador by the President of Poland. The year 2O15 will commence with a new Board taking over the control of Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie. I am convinced that the Fair will not go astray and will keep providing you with lots of positive emotions, giving partner advice in many different fields and realizing even the most challenging ideas you may have, thus successfully promoting the domestic and foreign aspects of the Polish economy and its entrepreneurs. > POLISH ECONOMY

GOOD CONDITION OF POLISH ECONOMY Polish economy has for years been increasing its competitiveness. We are taking advantage of the opportunities given to us with the European Union membership, as well as of those opportunities created by the demand on other markets. Our openness to the latest technologies, innovative thoughts and searching for the most effective solutions result in our products and services getting more and more recognizable not only in Poland, but also abroad.

GDP – on the plus side for years

In terms of the Gross Domestic Product, Poland has for a few years been distinguishable compared to the other EU countries, noting the indicator’s increases. The year 2OO9 was spectacular as the GDP rise equaled 1.6 per cent. That wouldn’t have been so positively commented on had it not been for the fact that it was the only positive result of all EU countries. The following years gave even better results – the rise of the Polish GDP of 3.9% in 2O1O was the third greatest rise in the whole EU, whereas in 2O11 the rise of 4.5% got Poland ranked 4th in the European Union. The economic crisis of 2O12 slowed the economic growth down in Poland. According to the data by Central Statistical Office (GUS) the GDP rose by 1.9% in 2O12. Thus, according to the data by GUS and Eurostat Polska ranking, Poland was ranked in the 5th place in terms of economic growth compared to the other European Union countries. Despite the fact that the year 2O12 proved Poland’s economy dependant on the economic situation of Europe, and the fact that the year 2O13 was yet another strong slowdown of the economic growth in the Euro zone and Poland, we already noticed a clear, yet slow improvement, of the situation. In terms of the GDP value, Poland has recently reached the level of two thirds of EU’s average. In the years 2OO4-2O13, Polish GDP per capita rose by 46%, whereas that of the Czech Republic by 23%, of Germany by 14% and of Hungary by 13%. The forecast for 2O14 is more optimistic for the Euro zone. According to the European Commission, the rise of GDP is estimated at 1.1% for the EU. In case of Poland, the European Commission’s prognosis is also positive. It is estimated that GDP will rise from the 2O13 level of 1.3% to 2.5% in 2O14. O6 / POZNAŃ FAIR MAGAZINE

Taking advantage of opportunities

One of the factors which contributed to the economic growth was Poland’s accession to the European Union in 2OO4. Joining the EU provided the country with strong support for its development thanks to the structural funds, awarded as part of the EU’s policy. In 2OO7-2O13 Poland was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the European funds. It is estimated that the EU budget equaled nearly EUR 68b those years. Another large inflow of EU funds is forecast for the years 2O14-2O2O. EUR 115m of the EU’s budget have been planned for Poland, EUR 82.5 m of which will be devoted to consistency policy, including investments in the transportation infrastructure (roads and railways), green energies, the making of information society. The biggest part, however, will concern innovativeness and support for entrepreneurs.

Direct investment

Over the last few years Poland has been distinguishable in the Central Europe in terms of the direct inflow of foreign investments. According to the data by UNCTAD from May 2O13, the total value of foreign investments in Poland totaled USD 94.9b in the years 2OO6-2O11, apparently

being the region’s highest. The year 2O11 was particularly positive as the value of direct foreign investment (according to NBP – National Bank of Poland) totaled EUR 13.567 billion. The year 2O12 saw a fall, as Poland experienced the inflow of direct investment of EUR 4.716 b. According to the Central Bank of Poland, the falls in 2O12 were caused by single transactions of special purpose entities and did not give a clear picture of a real engagement of the investors.

Opening up to foreign markets

Despite the economic slowdown in Europe, Poland managed to note an increase of the exportation of goods. In 2O12 the export totaled EUR 114b and was higher by 6.9% compared to 2O11. According to GUS, that score contributed to the GDP at the level of 2.1%. We also had an opportunity of observing the rise in export in 2O13. Foreign sale of Polish companies reached EUR 152.8b in 2O13, which is our export record. Compared to 2O12 that means a rise of 6.5%. Polish entrepreneurs are more and more willing to search for investors among Non-western European contractors. In 2O12-2O13 Polish

Poznań Fashion Fair is accompanied by the POLSKA MODA program which presents clothing and footwear made in Poland only as well as the YOUNG FASHION FOR SALE project which concentrates on gifted passionate individuals who, using their own brands, create clothing, footwear, accessories, and other fancy goods characterized by original patterns, high quality of materials and care about every single detail. BTS Exhibition of Shoes and Leather Goods This is an exhibition of footwear, leather goods and clothing, special-purpose machines, footwear and leather accessories.

Elżbieta Roeske director of a Group of Products The Polish Fashion Program is the outcome of our talks with clothing and footwear producers, who were interested in a joint promotional campaign for domestic fashion brands. The meetings with the entrepreneurs as well as market analysis allowed us to create a project which will make it possible for the designers and producers to boost the image of Polish companies amongst business clients and consumers. The project’s marketing scope involves participation in an exclusive fashion show at Poznań Fashion Fair, making collections distinguishable in stores thanks to Polish Fashion tags attached to the clothes and footwear, as well as online promotion. The www.polskamoda.mtp.pl website, where Internet users can find the latest offers of the industry, is one of the online campaign elements. It involves information on people interested in joining in the program. The Polish Fashion Campaign is a cyclical event; therefore, the applications may be submitted all year round.

Edyta Bonin-Kanikowska / director of POZNAŃ FASHION Fair Two greatest advantages of Poznań Fashion Fair are great quality and good design; this is how the idea for the Polish Fashion program came on. It aims to present the two on both the domestic and the foreign markets. As stated by the Ministry of Treasury, the value of the Polish clothing and footwear market in 2O13 in Poland rose by 3% up to EUR 6.9 billion. In its analysis titled “The clothing and footwear market in Poland”, the PMR company forecasts the growth of the market’s value beyond EUR 7 billion, and beyond EUR 9 billion in 2O19. Young Poles are very eager to set up small clothing companies making unique clothes, footwear, fancy goods and jewelry. It is not uncommon that they sew according to individual orders. Our clothes are becoming very popular on foreign markets. It is already possible to come across shops with Polish clothes in Berlin, Vienna, Croatia, and even in Qatar. Due to its business characteristics, Poznań Fashion Fair supports Polish producers and designers in reaching foreign contractors, as well as in helping foreign brands get into Polish shops. Every single edition is participated by 5 thousand owners of clothes shops, showrooms, and retail chains from Poland and abroad.

Małgorzata Czubak / director of targów AKTYWNI 5O+ FAIR The society of the European Union is getting older and older. While the phenomenon has grown significantly in the recent years, the birth rate has fallen down. According to the estimates of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the number of people over 5O is to grow dramatically until 2O35. In the years 2O15-2O2O the growth shall reach the level of a million people. The aging process does not only have the demographic impact, but also economic and social ones. Longer lifespan stands for the civilization achievement that we craved for, which is connected with the rise in the standard of living, medical progress, and the functioning of social security system. At the same time it does pose serious economic, social and cultural problems, which call for system changes. These include the demand for certain products and services. The increase in the number of OAPs is definitely a challenge for the country’s social policy. There is a need of creating special programs which will guarantee access to specialist social and health services, facilitating healthy aging, just like those which will make their lives socially and economically useful. A change in our attitude to the old age is so inevitable that it should be understood rather in terms of maturity, life experience, as well as a great period of life when you may devote yourself to your passions, travelling, doing voluntary work and making your dreams come true.
