HEROINES OF THE HARDWOOD

2 2013-14 Skyline Lady Spartans Basketball

WELCOME TO 2013-14 SKYLINE GIRLS BASKETBALL ….. We want to take a moment to thank all the students and community members who continue to come out and support our team with a great “home court” advantage every time we step on the court. Thanks also to the sponsors who made this program possible and the parents and other volunteers who help all year long.

GREG BRUNS HEAD COACH

This year’s talented seniors feature players with considerable Varsity experience; Bryn deVita, Shelby Kassuba, and Alex Daugherty who are 3-year letter winners. Their senior leadership combined with the work ethic, athleticism, and genuine desire to win will be leaned on heavily in order for us to have another successful season! We look forward to continuing the development of the program and the challenges of playing in the very difficult Kingco 4A league.

Teamwork is the fuel that produces uncommon results in common people . . .nowhere is this more evident than on our basketball teams where individuals come together to hone each other’s skill to make the whole team better. On the court, five athletes on the floor must work with each other to score points on offense and to create an impenetrable defense. It is where a team learns about individual strengths and plays to exploit those while protecting against the individual weaknesses so that no large holes are exposed. In basketball one quickly realizes that no one individual can win the game alone—someone needs to assist, set up a play, or bring up the ball. The athletes use physicality, discipline, repetition, communication, intuition, mental strength, positive attitudes, and sacrifice as individuals to weave together a team effort that showcases the Spartans as teams to be reckoned with—a team where the individuals recognize that together they will accomplish far more than an individual could alone. Welcome to Spartan Basketball!

SHELBY KASSUBA

Shelby,

Go Lady Spartans!

We are so proud of the young lady you have become, right in front of our eyes. You are amazing. Your hard work on the court and in school is inspirational to all of us. We love watching you play as much as you love the game. Your drive and competitive fire have been an unstoppable force and has always been infectious to your teammates. Your unselfish play and ability to see the floor on offense as well as defensively will take you far. Play your heart out this year. Keep your faith in God in the forefront of your thoughts and leave everything on the floor so that one day you can look back and say to yourself “I wouldn’t change a thing”. Make this a special season with your teammates and have the time of your life!

Celebrate your senior season at Skyline, strengthen the bonds of friendship you've built, and lead your team to another successful season!
