Wirral Well Being Magazine - Summer 2023

Page 1

Welcome to the Summer issue of Wirral Well-Being Magazine, the sun has been shining and hopefully, we are all smiling and feeling bright. We cover some wonderful articles and features in this latest edition, and I hope you enjoy the read!

Something a bit different in my column this time. I wanted to share with you this poem written by one of the most

Lonely not lonely

I feel so lonely and so unwanted at times

My kids I adore, still the loneliness climbs

It’s been so long now and I should be ok But this pain and sadness just won’t go away

I was happy again but that’s didn’t last long Again feeling not good enough, just trying to stay strong

I feel so guilty feeling this way

Keep trying to tell myself It will be ok

Why am I feeling this way I’m blessed with so much I’m so self absorbed and so out of touch

I try every morning to get over myself

Think of others that don’t have my wealth

But I’m scared of my future and what I’ll become The old plan was to be just like my mum

At night when everyone snuggles in bed

I’m lucky to snuggle with my children, but afraid in my head

The loneliness starts in the morning and ends late at night

I hate feeling guilty with no end in sight

People struggle through worse and don’t even complain I can hold my head high and hide all my pain

My children deserve me to be better and I hope that I can be I just don’t what them growing up to despise me

But today I will remind myself this Take each day at a time, my children I’d miss

Tomorrows a new day and I’m blessed to be here So will move onwards and upwards and hold in that tear

beautiful, incredible, strong, bright, kind-hearted ladies I have the privilege of knowing and calling my friend. I know we all feel like this at times so if this reaches out and helps one more person then our purpose here has been met. It inspired me so I wanted to share it and I know it will touch your hearts too. Thank you, Laura you are amazing, I hope you know that. Because you truly are!

Just breathe retreat, well true to its word it was an "experience I will never forget"

A wonderful one. Thank you so much Julie for a relaxing, mindful, refreshing insightful day. The meditation exercises were beautiful. I felt energised afterwards yet so at peace. The book and the quotes are sensational, what an incredible way to meet and connect with like minded, lovely individuals. The Leasowe castle was the most idyllic setting, with a dedicated trainer who made the day so special and welcoming. Anyone who is thinking of giving a retreat a try even on their own please give it a go. The workshops offer lots of group activity but dedicated space for personal reflection that complements each perfectly. All topped off with a gorgeous walk through the grounds and to the beach at Leasowe Bay.

Happy Sundays. Look inside for news of future events.

I AM CHARLOTTE, OPERATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATE, DJ, MUM, PLANT LOVER AND OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST... (and

anxious person!)

I have completed 2 courses of CBT over the last 12 years and have completed courses that have increased my awareness of mental health which has helped a lot, not only to understand my own mental health but to understand others too! In the past my anxiety has caused me to need to take time away from my work and I stopped socialising I didn’t like that as my job and my friends are a big part of my wellbeing Through speaking out and telling people how I was feeling, I was able to access support Years down the line, I am now able to manage my anxiety levels myself and with a little help from my fantastic support network on those extra tricky days

I am a mum to a young child and a fur baby (cat)! I love spending time with my little family, drinking tea, going to gigs with my partner and friends, spending time outside and going camping I have moved around to several different cities and have spent most of my career working for one of the countries largest charities supporting people with learning disabilities

Most people probably don’t know that I have lived experience of living with anxiety

I am able to do all the things I enjoy, and I am able to do them well! I am confident, fun and like to make people laugh I am able to tell stories without forgetting my words and I like to go out and socialise

I didn’t used to realise that I was anxious until afterwards, but as my awareness has increased, I now know that I am anxious when I start to feel like I am worrying about things that usually don’t concern me as much I find it hard to regulate my body temperature and find that I am cold a lot and may loose my appetite I also tense my muscles and find it difficult to relax my body

I may be quieter than usual I will keep lists to make sure I don’t forget things and I may find it hard to maintain eye contact and will get my words muddled up I may seek reassurance or find I am double checking my emails before sending more than usual I may ask people the same question more than once

In an ideal world, it would be really helpful if everybody had a basic understanding of all mental health conditions Most people don’t want special treatment, just for people to be kind, patient and understanding For example, if I forget my words or repeat myself, just be patient and hear me out I’m very lucky to work for an organisation that’s so supportive of its staff’s mental health and wellbeing Equality and inclusiveness are at the heart of everything we do My manager has a good awareness of my stress signatures and shows an interest in my mental health as well as my physical health I love my job, for me it ’ s a protective factor and a big part of my wellbeing and being able to bring my whole self to work and be open during times when I am feeling anxious means I am able to thrive and do my job well, which gives me a huge sense of achievement

HELPING VICTIMS OF MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE FOR OVER 15 YEARS

chair bound and totally reliant on the support of others. We put formal allegations to the Defendant Hospital and liability was quickly admitted in full. A settlement was negotiated including funds to allow our client to adapt her home and receive assistance from carers for the rest of her life.

Client Y’s story

Our Specialist Medical Negligence Team have been assisting clients who have suffered injuries arising from medical negligence for over 15 years. Whilst our team assist clients all over the country, we are proud to offer our services in our new office location in West Kirby.

Over the last 15 years we have recovered millions of pounds in compensation for our clients, many of whom have been unable to continue working and required external support and adaptations to their homes as a consequence of failures in their medical care.

As well as failures within the heath sector we do also come across excellent medical care. In fact, very often when approached by clients who have concerns about medical treatment at private or NHS hospitals our initial advice is that they utilise the hospital’s own internal complaints procedure. Our experience is that it is often only a lack of communication which has led them to believe there has been a failure in their care resulting in a poor or unexpected outcome. Once they have raised their concerns and they have been properly answered, many clients are often reassured and can move on with their lives. Sadly, we are however required to represent clients in cases where there is not a simple explanation or the explanation provided to them by the treatment provider is not acceptable.

Client X’s

story

One such case concerned a lady who underwent knee replacement surgery in order to improve her mobility. The treatment was funded by NHS but had been referred out to a private treatment centre. The surgery failed, as did restorative treatment and rather than improving her mobility, she was left wheelchair bound. Her family raised complaints with the surgeon and complained in writing but were reassured that the poor outcome was just one of those things and a risk of any surgery. We investigated and obtained independent expert evidence from an orthopaedic surgeon and discovered that a basic surgical mistake had been made in regards to the primary surgery. Had the correct technique been used the outcome would have been good and her mobility restored. Instead the damage caused to the knee was irreversible and she had been left permanently wheel-

Another case concerned a young woman who developed cervical cancer. There had been some early signs and she had attended her GP and was referred for screening tests which were performed. She was reassured that these were all clear. Cancer was later diagnosed by which time it was advanced and she had a 5cm tumour of the uterine cervix and required radiotherapy and chemotherapy and the treatment resulted in the premature onset of the menopause and consequent infertility. Owing to physical and psychological problems she was unable to return to work on a full-time basis. She complained about a delay in diagnosis but was reassured that the appropriate tests had been conducted. She was reassured that nothing more could have been done. We were instructed and investigated the case and as part of that investigation obtained evidence from an independent histopathologist. This evidence indicated that the early cervical smears had in fact been reported incorrectly by the Defendant Trust which was completely unacceptable. Had they been reported correctly as showing early signs of cancer, as they should have been, a simple procedure could have been performed avoiding all of the longterm consequences. We obtained admissions of liability and a substantial damages award which included compensation for her injuries, her loss of earnings and perhaps most importantly funds to allow her to pay for the future lifelong medical treatment that she would now require.

We are here to represent the injustices you have suffered and ensure that clients receive full and fair compensation. Richard Malloy is a Solicitor and Head of Medical Negligence at Gregory Abrams Davidson Solicitors. GAD are Solicitors who specialise in obtaining compensation for clients who have sustained injuries as a result of Medical Negligence. We deal with claims for compensation against hospitals (both NHS and Private), dentists, general practitioners, pharmacists and opticians. We have offices in Liverpool City Centre, Allerton, Garston Village, West Kirby and Golders Green, London. We offer a free initial case assessment and No Win No Fee Funding is available. EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Emotional abuse is a type of abuse where someone tries to use emotions to manipulate, embarrass, shame, blame, criticised, or otherwise try to gain control and power over someone else. Over time this constant pattern of abuse and behaviour can affect your self-esteem and mental health. Spotting the signs of emotional abuse can be trickier than more other types of abuse which can lead to some people overlooking, ignoring or dismissing the signs. Mostly occurring in romantic relationships, but it can happen between friends, family members, even colleagues and can happen at any stage in people’s lives.

Emotional abuse can be incredibly damaging, if someone is stopping you expressing yourself, is belittling your opinions or making you doubt events or experiences you know to be true (gaslighting) this is abusive behaviour.

If you find yourself changing how you act to better accommodate their behaviour or find yourself feeling scared or anxious about their reactions this is abusive behaviour. There are many types of abuse.

Intimidation or threats, making you feel small, shouting, acting aggressively or making you feel scared.

Criticism. name calling, belittling comments for using technology or success, berating your strengths and accomplishments.

Undermining, this may include dismissing your opinion or disputing your version of events it's a form of gaslighting to doubt yourself.

Making you feel guilty, this can range from emotional blackmail to ignoring you by way of manipulation or they suddenly act so nice to you after being cool making you feel sorry for them and uplifted to get back in their good books. Shaming. Making you feel ashamed of yourself, your behaviour or experiences.

Name calling. They may use derogatory names or phrases when speaking with you put you down in conversations or say things to make you feel bad about yourself. These hurtful things may be disguised as a joke or played off as sarcasm when questioned.

Different treatment. An emotionally abusive partner, friend, sibling or parent may treat you differently from other friends or family, they may also put you in dangerous situations, try to control you, put pressure on you to do things that you aren't comfortable with or don't want to do.

Isolation. This can include stopping you from having friends making you doubt the others care for you trying to exclude you from gatherings or events requires you to check in constantly, wants to know where you are and who you're with, requires proof of where you are, these can be further signs of controlling and isolating behaviours.

Withholding affection, time, sex or money. This can be a method of controlling you trying to make you change your behaviours or opinions.

Unrealistic expectations. Making unreasonable demands on you such as wanting to spend all their time with you, expecting you to drop everything to meet their needs, expecting you to share every opinion. Someone setting unrealistic expectations may never be happy no matter how hard you try or you may never live up to their standards no matter what you do, demanding exact times and dates of past events, past discussions they deny happened. Saying

things are true that are not. Monitoring calls, technology, social media ect.

Invalidation. Dismissing your tale of events, dismissing your perspective, refusing to accept how you feel, demanding you feel a certain way, accusing you as being too sensitive or emotional, dismissing your needs or accusing you of being needy or selfish.

An emotionally abusive person may show signs of jealousy possessiveness or make unwanted accusations of cheating. Using silent treatment or withholding affection and attention can be common tactics used in an attempt to control your behaviour.

If somebody is making you feel uncomfortable, upset, anxious or scared this isn't normal or acceptable. Emotional abuse is often subtle and hard to detect both for those outside of the relationship and the person being abused, you may feel yourself feeling anxious, confused, frustrated, misunderstood, wounded, or worthless. Remember everybody deserves to be treated with kindness and respect and it is not normal to be made to feel like this frequently. It can be extremely upsetting and this is a reflection on the law and serious crime act 2015 making behaviour that is controlling and coercive punishable by a prison sentence. Over time you may feel like you have lost all sense of who you are. You may no longer trust yourself and feel worthless. Research suggests that emotional abuse can have such an impact on our physical well being too.

What to do if you're being emotionally abused. Speak out! Telling someone you're being abused means that you no longer have to deal with it alone. Keep records of what has happened to remind you of the scale and scope of emotional abuse you experience. When abusers are being nice it can be easy to forget or overlook or to convince ourselves that it is as bad as we thought so having these daily events will make you feel like you can put their behaviour into perspective. Prioritising yourself practising self-care concentrating on your own needs will help you deal with the dated age stress and challenges that may arise. Stop blaming yourself for abuse is never OK, you are not the problem and recognising your worth should be the first step forward to escaping the cycle.

If you're worried about someone else, let them know, let them know you care and you are there for them and you're happy to talk and support them in any way you can.

BENEFITS OF SPIRULINA AND CHLORELLA

Whether it be to improve health, detoxify the body of heavy metals, or to simply boost mineral and electrolyte consumption; algaebased products such as spirulina and chlorella —have become a supplemental staple in the lives of many health-conscious consumers. And although each provides numerous benefits on its own, the spirulina and chlorella benefits when taken together are even greater.

Originating in freshwater bodies such as lakes, rivers and ponds, spirulina is a consumable cyanobacteria that grows in the form of algae. Historically, it has been consumed as a food item, and more recently, in supplemental form to aid with health and contribute to daily nutritional needs. Known for its nutritionally dense profile, spirulina can be considered one of the most complete food items that exists. The consumption of spirulina as a food item dates all the way back to the 1600s when it was used by the Aztecs and other Mesoamericans. Chlorella is a single-celled green algae that also grows in freshwater bodies. Unlike spirulina though, the cellular walls of chlorella are indigestible to humans, so it must be broken down, processed, and taken in supplement form to reap the nutritional benefits.

Although they’re both freshwater algae, spirulina and chlorella benefits can differ when taken on their own, and for a variety of reasons.

For one, chlorella contains more iron per serving and has a higher percentage of its fat calories from omega-3 fatty acids, but spirulina is higher in protein and potassium. Another area where the spirulina and chlorella benefits differ is when it comes to vitamin B12. Chlorella contains significant amounts of B12 per serving, whereas spirulina only contains trace amounts of a form of B12 that is ineffective in humans.

The primary spirulina and chlorella benefit you’ll enjoy when taken together are the protein and potassium that spirulina is packed with, as well as the iron and omega-3 content of chlorella.

One major benefit of including spirulina in your diet is that it is relatively high in protein per serving. Protein serves many functions in the body, but its main responsibility is in

repairing muscle tissue that has been broken down from physical activities, such as exercise and sports.

Spirulina and chlorella may be great sources of protein, but what may be even more impressive is that those proteins contain a complete profile of essential amino acids.

Most plant-based sources of protein contain incomplete proteins on their own. This can be problematic for those following vegan or vegetarian diets and not combining different plant-based protein sources to get complete proteins. Thanks to the amino acid content of the protein in chlorella, pairing it with spirulina can provide plant-based dieters with a complete protein source.

Fibre is another benefit you’ll enjoy when taking spirulina and chlorella together.

In short, fibre is an indigestible carbohydrate that cannot be broken down by the body into sugar.

Iron is an essential mineral that is mostly responsible for delivering oxygen throughout the body. A diet lacking in iron can lead to several health ailments, such as anaemia, shortness of breath, and brittle nails. Another benefit to be reaped from combining spirulina and chlorella is the potassium content of each.

Potassium is a mineral and essential electrolyte that is partially responsible for controlling the electrical pulses in the body, along with a variety of other bodily functions, such as hydration and central nervous system function. When supplemented, potassium has been shown to reduce blood pressure readings in patients with normal sodium intake.

Copper is an essential mineral that plays a role in maintaining your metabolism. It also contributes to bone health and central nervous system function.

Thanks to the copper content in spirulina and the mineral-rich nature of algae in general, you’ll have an easier time reaching your daily needs when combining spirulina and chlorella together.

One of the biggest challenges one may face when pursuing a vegan or vegetarian diet is finding food sources that contain vitamin B12. Chlorella does indeed deliver vitamin B12, the B12 content found in

spirulina is psuedovitamin B12 and has not been shown to be effective in humans.

There’s no question that the spirulina and chlorella benefits are plentiful, but one of the more impressive feats would be the vitamin A content.

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is important for vision, immune system function, and organ health. Much like vitamin A, vitamin E is also a fat-soluble vitamin. However, it functions as an antioxidant in the body, helping it rid itself of free radicals and other harmful compounds.

Another advantage you’ll enjoy when combining spirulina and chlorella is the additional omega-3 fatty acids to be had.

Omega-3s are a family of essential fatty acids that your body needs but cannot produce. Adding them to your diet can reduce inflammation in the body.

Although both algae do contain omega-3 fatty acids, a higher percentage of chlorella’s fat calories are from omega-3s. This means that when taking spirulina, you can increase your intake of these healthy fats by combining it with chlorella. The final benefit you’ll be happy to reap when taking spirulina and chlorella together is the modest amount of zinc content. Zinc is another essential mineral; however, it is mostly known for its effect on the immune system. A deficiency in zinc can lead to increased susceptibility to infection.

As indicated by the mountain of evidence — only a fraction of which we’ve touched on in this post — the spirulina and chlorella benefits can be profound when taken together. It is quite remarkable that such a tiny volume of food can pack as much nutrition as it does.

Algae, such as spirulina and chlorella, are some of the most nutritionally dense food sources on the plant. In fact, algae have even been discussed by NASA as a potential source of nutrition for the long journeys astronauts may embark on in the future.

On their own, spirulina and chlorella are each nutritional powerhouses in their own regard. However, when combined, the benefits are compounded.

BREATHWORK

Breathwork is the most transformational thing I’ve ever done in my life and it could be for you too. As soon as i discovered this amazing technique i wanted to learn how to facilitate it so that i can hold space for others to experience.

As a holistic therapist my Breathwork classes vary and include a mixture of gentle movements to get the energy flowing, Reiki healing and always finishing with a meditation.

Consciously connected breathwork benefits us as human beings we hold onto tension within our bodies and in doing so we create physical, mental and emotional blockages. This technique helps to release the blockages and transform your life and energy.

In today’s society, we are very busy and often neglect our bodies’ built-in natural healing capabilities.

The fact is, most of us live everyday inconsciously, which could manifest as living without knowing who you are, what you want out of life, what matters most to you, what your unique strengths and talents are, and how your actions affect you and others.

Breath is the most powerful mechanism and is literally right beneath our noses waiting to be explored, yet we rarely give it more than a passing thought.

Conscious Connected Breathing is a powerful and safe way to infuse the body with oxygen and energy, recharging our own (often depleted) systems to work to their healing capacity.

It facilitates openings to higher levels of consciousness and allows us to tap into our deeper resources and live our lives joyfully and in abundance. Consciously changing the way you breathe sends a signal to the brain to adjust the parasympathetic branch of the nervous system, which can slow heart rate and digestion and promote feelings of calm as well as the sympathetic system, which controls the release of stress hormones like cortisol.

So if you have an open mind to try something new, you might just have an experience that will change you life. I offer group and 121 sessions

THE BLENDED APPROACH OF PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH Physical & Mental Health Coach Physical & Mental Health Coach

change or influence from a supporting role, this will leave you with several stressors that you can control or influence change over.

am delighted once again to contribute some of my work with the Wirral Wellbeing Magazine.

It is my mission to assist, educate & inspire as many people as I can, on their own journey to stressless wellbeing & happiness, via Mental health awareness, Cognitive behavioural therapy, Neuro linguistic programming, Mindfulness and the Routes & Dimensions of Wellness.

How good is your circle of concern vs your circle of control, how much Capacity do you have to deal with your stressors?

You’re probably asking yourself, what is the Circle of concern vs the circle of control.

30Mph, every item of loose contents, the passengers, dog, shopping, laptop all become projectiles, also travelling at 30Mph until they hit a solid object.

List all those stressors in numerical order of importance on the second blank page!

All your internal organs continue to travel at 30Mph until they hit your rib cage, your brain and upper thoracic spine also continue to travel until they are brought to blunt force traumatic stop.

You now have a list of all the stressful factors in your life that you can begin to systematically work through one day at a time! This is your circle of control.

This exercise is one of my very favourites for removing all the jumbled up cognitive dissonance inside your head, getting it down on paper and providing you with the list of issues you can resolve, it removes so much clutter from the brain that you are clinging onto because you don’t know where to place it, and you will feel relief from unburdening yourself from the things you can’t control from your circle of concern.

This is why experts, over time have established that speed limits are required for safety, and seat belts were introduced to slow down or dramatically improve the chances of survival.

The Graphic will give you a visual idea, but in a nutshell, we are constantly absorbing exteroceptive stimulus via our senses, so all the information that is being taken in via what we can see, hear, feel, taste and touch. This stimulus triggers Neuroceptive responses or reactions (makes the body do what the brain tells it as a reaction or response to sensory stimulus) think, don’t touch that hot plate or don’t look know but.

Kaizen Wirral Mindset CiC - The Human Speed Limit, and Cadence, why we must have the Discipline to slow ourselves down and regulate our ambitions.

Did you know?

The speed of light is 299,792 Km per second.

The top speed of my car is 142 Mph (allegedly)

Usain Bolt holds the fastest speed ever achieved by a human 27.5 Mph.

Now if we are constantly absorbing the tv news, the covid news, the war in Ukraine, the fuel crisis, the hose pipe ban, the political instability of the country, knife & gun crime, this stuff is heavy and it’s a burden to carry, but its not really your burden! It is inside your circle of concern but its outside your circle of control unless of course you have an active role in any of the above examples.

Average sprint speed is 15mph or 14 seconds per 100m.

According to Strava the average jog speed is 9.3Mph.

Cadence is a rhythmic sequence of routines, processes, and systems that keep us in a state of flow and do not push us outside of our unique stress threshold.

Take 2 pieces of blank paper, begin to write down every single issue that you can think of that has you a little stressed out, when you hit a brick wall and think that you have exposed all the stressors, keep going because I can promise you that the sub conscious brain is holding onto way more than it needs too.

Once you feel that you have transferred all the cognitive stressors onto the first page, get a different colour pen or a highlighter and cross out everything on that page that you have no control over, or you cannot

Vehicles in the UK can travel at 3 even 4 times the road speed limits, but they can’t ( by law ) due to the statistical likelihood of having an RTC - road traffic collision, and the catastrophic consequences of the collision at speed.

When a Vehicle crashes regardless of the speed whilst in the collision there are 3 points of impact !

The vehicle hitting the item, vehicle, person, wall whatever, at the speed of collision - let’s say it’s

If you wanted to take this exercise a few steps further, you could draw up a Matrix of control, and place the stressors from your circle of control into further categories such as, Personal, Family, Work or business matters, Finance, Health, and ask yourself the following questions.

Cultural norms often push us to go faster and achieve more, the pressures and stressors lead to an internal belief that you must override your neurobiological needs and rely on coping strategies that do not actually discharge our stress activators.

What immediate action can I take?

What supporting role can I play?

How can I influence better outcomes?

If you are an A - Alpha type personality, Competitive, Organised, Ambitious, Impatient, highly aware, Aggressive, or Neurotic - Frantic - and generally Overwhelmed, we must impose a Speed limit for our own safety.

Where is external help required?

Where do I need to apply acceptance to the things I cannot change?

We must install or own Human safety belts. You are probably aware of the feelings pulling us towards stimulants like caffeine, sugar and sweet treats or energy drinks, or worse getting to the end of a working day and numbing out with alcohol or comfort foods.

Once you have completed this exercise, you will now have far more capacity to cope with the day-to-day stressors that simply keep coming, but in a far more resourceful, logical and responsive manner.

Until our next edition, where I will discuss Capacity building in detail, please remember that we grow through what we go through, as long as we learn the lessons.

Mindful behaviours like Meditation & Breathwork will Proactively assist you in taking control of your Human Speed Limit, it’s essential to control the self-imposed Stressors of the A type personality.

Maybe fear and the uncertainty of the current economical climate drive you to become more perfectionistic, were all under a great deal of stress, so you push harder, faster, multitasking whilst listening to that internal critic that keeps telling you that you can and must work harder.

carry, but its not really your burden! It is inside your circle of concern but its outside your circle of control unless of course you have an active role in any of the above examples.

This will eventually lead you to a physiological dysregulated nervous system.

Make time for your Wellness or else be forced to make time for your Illness like, Overwhelm, Nervous breakdown, Heart attack, Heart disease, Obesity, and ultimately an early trip to the dead centre of town.

Take 2 pieces of blank paper, begin to write down every single issue that you can think of that has you a little stressed out, when you hit a brick wall and think that you have exposed all the stressors, keep going because I can promise you that the sub conscious brain is holding onto way more than it needs too.

Where is external help required?

Speed propels the Vitality of life, Attitude controls it, Momentum maintains it, Patience protects it, Leadership guides it, Entelechy unleashes it.

Where do I need to apply acceptance to the things I cannot change?

CELEBRATING ENOUGHNESS

"Sometimes it can feel like if we aren't striving for more, are we even human, let alone normal?

As a society that celebrates hustle culture and wears burnout like a badge of honour. It has created a culture that says you should either be constantly healing before you are enough, or that without a certain figure in the bank, continuous study, or other finite measure you are not enough.

Something has to change, it’s time to say enough and create a new paradigm celebrating our wholeness and that being is enough. This is not just something that we even have to strive to do, or even bring more of that into our everyday life. What I have witnessed over this year is that it’s naturally occurring. Almost as if the commitment to being present is the new normalcy.

I have witnessed a natural evolution take place of where that is landing. From conversations, I’ve had with clients, friends and even overhead, more and more people are sinking into enoughness, simplicity and even settling. The biggest problem with this is that people are feeling a lot of shame and guilt around being enough. In a world that says if you don’t want more, or need more, we’re lazy, it’s no wonder people are keeping it to themselves. HAPPINESS SHOULD BE THE INSPIRATION, NOT THE GOAL. Nurturing a culture of enoughness, doesn’t mean we no longer want anything, do anything, or even work, it’s just inspired from a different place. By putting ourselves first, our wellbeing first, by putting our self actualisation first, we are powerfully inspired to create, play and work in new ways.

Nurturing our enoughness, is about understanding that we are enough, we have everything within us. Embracing our enoughness, creates a foundation and building blocks of inner safety. Connecting to our enoughness means we are whole, and those building blocks become the inspiration for life to happen.

The secret lies in redefining productivity, success, wealth and even purpose, on our own personal terms. We should be creating our success based on waking up each morning feeling how we want to feel. In the heading of this section, I used happiness as the example, but you can replace it with anything you want, safety, comfortability, joy, excitement, built on enoughness.

It’s about redefining resilience as no longer meaning powering through, burning ourselves out to get to some mythical destination. True resilience is about becoming the certainty in an uncertain world, to do the inner work and lean into self trust. To move through the world in a whole new way, knowing whatever happens, we are enough."

"You are enough!

You may have heard this a million times before, but have you allowed yourself to feel it? However, not enough you are feeling right now, However, messy life feels right now, However, loud that imposter is trying to prove you otherwise, And even how ‘too much’ you may feel, You are enough!

The YOU that’s paused to read these words, You are enough!

So take a moment, and take a breath and feel that enoughness, Feel it coursing through your veins, Feel it in every bone of your body, Feel it vibrate in every cell, You are enough.

If this has inspired you, check our my new audiobook, Take The Leap, which is about connecting too and creating a life inspired by being enough.

Chris is the Nurture Map creator and CEO, hosts a podcast, creates audiobooks and runs workshops that celebrate enoughness. You can also follow him on social media @createyourlifewithchris. Or mini site; www.nurturemap.com/createyourlifewithchris"
