THE RENOVATOR MOVES IN ON MORNINGTON A big, brawny ex Physical Training Instructor of the Australian Defense Force, Scott Fairweather has seen his fair share of diversity. Scott spent 14 years in the military where he was deployed to the middle east and Afghanistan, training in the harshest conditions, and more recently in the commercial environment conditioning a number of high profile athletes and creating team specific sports training. One thing’s for sure, whether its training Special Forces, sportspeople or just people like you and me, Scott is passionate about building people. “It starts with physical improvement that happens through exercise but it’s so much more than that,” says Scott from his Renovator HQ in Main Street, Mornington. “I am about empowering people and providing an environment to prove their ability whilst maintaining their capability through progression, education and structure.” A softy at heart, Scott understands the importance of tough love and his new training facility, The Renovator HQ, is open to new members wanting to transform themselves. “It starts with people’s headspace. I will build their confidence. I train people strategically with 16 years of unmatched experience behind me. The boutique training studio in Mornington has the capacity for a membership of 50 people which gives me the opportunity to have governance and oversight over my client’s development. The small number ensures EXCLUSIVITY and a motivated, dynamic culture! I have members who have never exercised before right up to elite athletes training for competition.”

Scott also manages his clients nutrition and runs workshops on food choice, exercise design and exercise psychology, which he explains is a large part of getting SUSTAINABLE results. “Through my experience with tens of thousands of defense personnel coupled with a large commercial demographic and keen research into exercise psychology and human behavior, I have also created an extensive program for corporate development that I will be offering to businesses on the peninsula,” says Scott. “I am passionate about empowering and mentoring people in management through corporate development. This includes corporate health and wellness but extends to leadership facilitation.” Whether delivered in the gym and focused on physical transformations, or within the boardroom dynamically empowering people through motivational workshops, The Renovator’s methods and products will take you to the next level. With a passion for giving back to the community, Scott is keen to work with at risk kids on the peninsula, imparting his knowledge and inspiring self-improvement. “My dad was a Physical Training Instructor in the ADF also and so I grew up with it all that influence in my life, always encouraged to be my best and I would like to pass that onto kids,” says Scott who currently works with kids at Mornington Secondary College but wants to develop further outreach programs on the peninsula. “Leadership is all about influence. Our kids need consistent, positive and directional influence,” says Scott. For those who are unable to make it to the gym, Scott has also created an online training program. For just $2.99 per week, Renovator subscribers can have access to all the current Renovator programs, including exercise regimes, a constant supply of recipes, training tips, daily workout posts, motivational tips and hints. THE UNSEEN BEATLES

For those who love both The Beatles and great photography, get yourself to Mario’s Café in Fitzroy for the ultimate Beatles exhibition ‘Behind the scenes, signed photographs of The Beatles’. Photographed by Robert ‘Bob’ Whitaker, the exhibition runs until 29 June. Bob Whitaker was a key figure from the sophisticated end of what was to become known as the London ‘underground’. His photographs catch the nexus of creativity and excess that was Sixties London in all its psychedelic finery, its dazzling sophistication and its curious innocence. Bob photographed the Beatles in a thousand moods, portraying them as raw and uneasy adolescents, a role that began in Melbourne. In three short years, between 1964 and 1966, Robert ‘Bob’ Whitaker managed to

compile a remarkable photographic dossier on the 20th century’s most amazing musical phenomenon. English-born to an Australian mother, Whitaker had lived in Melbourne during the 1960s, where he came to discover his Australian roots, and did so among Melbourne’s creative cognoscenti - a young Martin Sharp (of Oz Magazine), Georges and Mirka Mora, artists Arthur Boyd, John Percival, and Charles Blackman as well as Richard Neville, Barry Humphries and Germaine Greer named in his circle of contemporaries. Art historian, David Melllor, believes that this three-year absence from London transformed him as a photographer.

Whitaker was personally assigned as The Beatles official staff photographer by their manager Brian Epstein on the group’s 1964 visit to Melbourne. A selection of these rare, signed photographs of The Beatles from behind the scenes, will be exhibited for sale in Melbourne, the city where in 1964 Whitaker and The Beatles began their three-year journey together and culminated with Whitaker’s famous 1966 shot of the Beatles covered in meat, the infamous ‘Butcher’s Sleeve’. This is now a rare collector’s item due to being deemed distasteful and pulled from distribution shortly after its release. Although Whitaker passed away in 2011, his special legacy to this city remains with his Australian his friend and curator Roger Taylor, who in his own right is well known in the arts community for his long-running and award-winning arts program ‘Gotham City Gossip’ on Triple R

FM, as well as his current contribution doing the visual arts segment on PBS FM program ‘The Breakfast Spread’. Taylor worked with Whitaker after they met at an exhibition in Brighton, England. He sees this exhibition as a celebration of not just Whitaker and The Beatles, but also of Melbourne. Taylor recalls Whitaker’s distinct ‘Australian-ness’ and remembers fondly anecdotes that weave in and out of this fair city, paying homage to Melbourne’s creative life-blood. The intimate exhibition at Mario’s Café displays a selection of rare, collector’s photographs from late-May to late-June, the latter half of which will run into the 50th anniversary of The Beatles performance in Melbourne. Put it on your list of things to do in June! Mario’s Café is at 303 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. www.marioscafe.com.au

IMPORTED DIRECTLY FROM EUROPE

Delivering a world of fashion and style to Mornington’s industrial estate, Watt Road Women’s European Shoe Outlet sells footwear and handbags from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Brazil and New Zealand - at well below retail prices.

Proprietor Julian de Graaf grew up on the Peninsula and started the outlet whilst working in his father’s company. He recently created his own importing business. Because you are dealing directly with the importer, at a low-rent location, prices are low. “The factory-outlet stock is updated with the seasons, as in regular stores, and is 90% European. We have a mix of flats, heels, and everything in-between. I aim to cater for all ages and styles, from casual wear to flashy and formal. Another great thing about my Women’s European Shoe Outlet is that I have the space to offer current-season stock and off-season stock, for those who intend to travel or just love low-season bargains,” said Julian. Tables of samples and prototypes may be just a third of retail price for lucky size 37’s (around 6.5 U.S.). There are also some big and small sizes, for the people who struggle to find their size in shoe shops. “New season’s boots and shoes with all-leather uppers and lining, sourced from ethically-made European brands are often well over $200, but I have nothing over that price.” Prices start at $30 and in some cases there are savings of $150. “I take pride in my friendly service and product

knowledge, and being able to help you find the shoe or boot that suits your fit and function,” says Julian with a smile. “Ample parking is right out front of our rollerdoor so it is so easy to pop in and do a quick lap to see what’s new, or the latest specials. You are welcome to park in the doorway, to keep any child in the car in view.” “Being the importer means many of our styles are exclusive, or one-of-a-kind in Australia, or perhaps even the southern hemisphere!” Julian adds. It is definitely worth a look, get quality European footwear and bags at Chinese prices. Open: Mon-Fri 9.30-4.30pm. Sat 9.30-2pm. Racecourse Market Sunday 9:30-2pm. Blue Mini blazes a new trail

The Blue Mini Café is trail blazing providing delicious breakfasts and fresh, tasty lunches at its new location at 2 Colchester Road Rosebud. Blue Mini owner Tracey Fleming has renovated and rejuvenated the old Rosebud Ten Pin Bowling Alley, now a spacious, modern café and emporium located in a healthy precinct alongside the Rosebud swimming pool and fitness centre. Using local craftsmen they have used the original timber and materials from the bowling alley to preserve its history and character. The result is a retro, upcycled and spacious venue which offers a delicious menu sourced from local produce, indoor and outdoor dining, fully licensed conference and catering facilities and a range of clever and eclectic giftware. The original Blue Mini café is a local landmark in

Rosebud which has been operating continuously from its beachside location since 2006. Tracey has long had a dream to expand her café business to a larger location and open up a new part of Rosebud which previously had very limited café and dining options. She is quick to point out that while there is more on offer at the new Blue Mini, but the delicious menu and friendly service which has made the original Mini a local favourite will not change. “While we have loved operating from our current location, the new Blue Mini allows us to offer our guests and loyal customers so much more. We are very proud of what we have achieved over the last eight years and try to make every visit to the Blue Mini a special experience by spending time getting to know our customers. The new Blue Mini will feature the same great service in more comfortable and interesting surroundings.” The achievements of the business and its innovative approach to opening new visitor services on the Peninsula were recognized at the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Excellence in Business Awards where they picked up the Best Hospitality Business Award for 2013. Among other offerings, the new Blue Mini features fresh market produce and flowers for sale, locally sourced art and quirky giftware, conference, catering and events and an outdoor dining area which is doggy friendly. Visitors to the southern Peninsula can find the new venue close to the exit to Peninsula Link, convenient to local businesses, golf courses, health and fitness facilities and education providers. The Blue Mini hopes to become a gateway to the southern Peninsula, offering a comfortable location to plan your trip, grab some tourist information, have a coffee or breakfast and pick up a packed lunch, picnic or selection of delicious cakes and sandwiches. The Blue Mini Eatery, Events and Emporium at 2 Colchester Road Rosebud is now open for business, from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and open 7 days from first week in July from 8am. After an 18 month period where Music classes have been held in the Hall, Library, Art Room and some creatively repurposed site sheds (known to students as ‘The Boxes’), the new Minimbah Music School has opened. On Tuesday 20 May a very grateful group of student musicians, equally excited Music and Performing Arts Staff, parents and former students, gathered to christen the new facility. Speaking before their first official performance in the new space, Year 4 students Rupert, Hugo and Ryan were full of praise for the upgraded facility. “The old one wasn’t as good – I saw it, and practised in it when we were in Year 2” said Hugo. “But then they knocked it down, and we’ve had to learn guitar in the boxes until this was finished.” “Learning in the boxes, from Mr Box” said Ryan. “Our guitar teacher’s name is Mr Box. He’s cool.” “Yeah, he gives us guitar picks when we do well” said Hugo. Rupert added, “It’s awesome, the new building. It’s got big rooms, and they’re quiet. You can just concentrate on the music and you’re not distracted by some noisy air conditioner or another class. It’s awesome.” The space consists of four ensemble and individual tuition rooms, and two large, multipurpose classrooms, which can be repurposed into a single rehearsal space large enough to accommodate all of Minimbah. “It’s big,” said Rupert, “and it has good acoustics. We sound good.” “We always sound good,” said Ryan, “because we are… ‘The Other Direction’. But it’s not all about sounding good in the beginning; opportunity and encouragement are what counts. “It’s good to be playing at Minimbah,” said Woodleigh Year 12 student Xander Theofanis, who performed part of his Unit 3/4 VCE Music sequence at the opening of the building. “There are so many opportunities for the kids here. I started out in Year 5 at Minimbah, on a trombone, learned the guitar for a while and

then picked up the bass guitar.” “And he hasn’t put it down since.” Added his mum Lorraine. “Seriously though, the students here have a great opportunity to get a start playing good music, with passionate musicians who just happen to be great teachers as well. They have this, new, interesting space, which can’t hurt their creativity, and from a more utilitarian perspective, it’s awesome that the rooms are properly soundproofed.” However, the best part about the building is, according to Eva in Year 4, that it is only going to get better. “It’s great to have the new building, but it’s too new – it’s got that new smell. So it will get even better once the new smell has gone.”

Upcoming Tours: Tours of Minimbah with the Head of Campus, Rod Davies are scheduled for Wednesday 18 June at 11:30am and Wednesday 6 August at 11:30am. Contact Minimbah Reception on 9788 6488 to register or for more information.

Force of Nature “Do you want to go to Adelaide to learn how to make wine?”

These are the words Philip Murphy recollects as we perch at the marble bench in his spacious kitchen overlooking the pool which leads to the two acres of vineyard sprawling uniformly before the distant sea: pure Main Ridge magic. “Of course that’s not what I as a fourteen year old boy wanted to do”, smiles Philip. The irony of these words spoken by his father Dan Murphy (of Dan Murphy bottle shop fame) decades ago does not go unnoticed by either of us – after all, we’ve just surfaced from Philip’s winery where I’ve been given a crash course on the ‘hand made’ process behind creating the nectar of the Gods. “The greatest thing about making wine (besides drinking it) is being completely at the mercy of Mother Nature. If the weather’s not right there’s no wine”, (which is what has happened this year). We agree there’s always next year, plus there are the barrels of last season’s pinot and chardonnay happily maturing down stairs in the cellar alongside his store of over two thousand bottles relaxing in racks in the calm cool dark. We enter this world through a secret portal located behind a book case in Philip’s office - so exciting for a couple of middle aged kids and Philip’s grand children! Philip Murphy has the wine industry running through his veins. Learning all there is to know about the retail side ‘from the ground up’ from his father after completing a commerce degree at Melbourne University and spending two years in the ‘rotten army’, Philip’s destiny was set in stone. “The army taught me to keep going”, which is exactly what he had to do when his father had a massive heart attack in 1971. “I was thrown in at the deep end”, he says “and it was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.” It was in 1988 when Philip decided to go it alone after wanting more input in the decision making process that he bought his first solo store in Carnegie, then Surrey Hills, Brighton, Toorak, Boronia, Niddrie…. “It grew very quickly. We were the fastest growing business in 1994, but I was working six days a week and was exhausted.” He sold his forty-five

stores across the country to Coles in 2001 and settled in Main Ridge in 2002 with his wife Jennifer. After taking some time off to travel and build this amazing home, he needed to get his hands dirty. “I went back to university in 2004 to do a Bachelor of Wine Science. I needed to know what I was doing”, and he sure does – his Pinot is mellow, full bodied and delicious. (James Halliday of the Australian Wine Companion rates it right up there with the best). “Wine making captivates me. It’s an art”, he goes on, but it’s not for the faint hearted. Philip is in the winery by 7am, hand presses his grapes, and bottles the precious liquid himself. Next stop in this investor/wine maker’s journey is cider! Philip has joined forces with a local apple grower to produce Main Ridge Cider which will be launched in a few months. In between all that there’s plenty of time for golf, cycling, travelling, and of course sharing his labour of love with friends and family. The fourteen year old Philip has certainly come full circle funny how life has a way of doing that… by Liz Rogers

Buying Diamonds Online... without going Online! Think about all the reasons for wanting to buy diamond jewellery online and the benefits are usually cheaper prices and a near endless selection of products. Then think about all the reasons why you wouldn’t buy online and it usually comes down to the risk of being scammed and not being able to see the item in person. Imagine then the ultimate scenario whereby you could shop locally in a bricks and mortar store yet benefit from cheaper online prices.

WAYS OF THE WITCH

ELIZABETH ROSE

We’ve all heard of the winter solstice, which is also the shortest day of the year, but there’s so much more to this than meets the eye as Witch and High Priestess, Elizabeth Rose explains. While most of us moan about the cold weather, witches and pagans gather to celebrate the transformation and new life with festivals and celebrations. “Winter solstice is also called yule. It is a celebration that is part of the eight sabbats. It is about light and dark and the earth changing on its wheel so every six weeks something shifts,” says Elizabeth, who explains how the moon and sun affect how we feel. “Our winter solstice festival is about paying homage to the environment. It’s that whole being in the now and wherever your now is and working with your environment and celebrating it.” Elizabeth and fellow witches will celebrate the solstice with a Yule celebration at her temple in East Keilor. “Yule is very much a time to honor the return of the Sun, at times we may gather and perform a pantomime type ritual and this year I think it will be focusing LAOS on the pregnant mother and birthing the sun child,” says Elizabeth. “I have worked across Victoria, in Brunswick, Brighton, Seymour, Sale, Narre Warren, and many

public parks all over Melbourne, but I have created a temple here so a lot of the rituals are offered here now in East Keilor where I work from. “ Elizabeth was recently in Mornington opening the Mt Martha Seven Sisters Festival, including performing several rituals centred on the Chinese New Year and titled ‘awaken year of the horse’. “You can work indoors or outdoors as long as you purify and consecrate the ground and space that you are working in,” says Elizabeth. “While I personally honor the three days of each sabbat, we generally tend to gather for an afternoon/evening till midnight ritual as that’s enough for most people.” With the winter solstice occurring this year around June 21st, Elizabeth explains that people will be feeling less energy up until this time. “From early April we start shifting into the depths and many people want to withdraw. With less sun and less energy it’s a heavy and somewhat draining time but you can learn to power up,” Elizabeth says. Far from the scary, hocus-pocus black witches portrayed in films, witchcraft or “wise craft” as it is known can be

personally empowering. “As long as it’s practiced in a good space and with good intentions, the wise craft is about acknowledgement and personal empowerment. I have doctors, lawyers, politicians, middle aged women, bikers, judges and people from all walks of life coming to the temple and leaving feeling unstoppable. And its just as much about being empowered as it is accountable” says Elizabeth. “It’s about learning what’s here that the universe provides for you and working with it, working with the solar and the lunar wheel, the moons, the suns and the seasons.” As an eclectic Initiated High Priestess and a Witch, Elizabeth Rose has become a well-known and respected ritualist who regularly performs public rituals that are open to all, sharing the ways of the Olde Religion, Witchcraft in a welcoming, friendly and naturally respectful manner for people of all spiritual persuasions. Elizabeth has been consulted by many famous celebrities throughout her career and continues to appear on television, national radio and in the print media. WHAT IS TOORAK TALKS? It is a mix between Ted Talks, Q&A, Ellen and The Panel - where the stage is set up as a studio with a host, three guest panelists and entertainment. Toorak Talks supports the Year 10 subject 21st Century Learning and covers topics relevant to this area as well as gives students access to role models. Year 10 students host the show and provide the entertainment, including dance and singing performances or musical interludes from student ensembles. Toorak Talks launched with the topic, ‘Creativity – turning something you love into a business’. The three guest panelists included Olivia Sparks (Class of 1997) a professional stylist specializing in interiors, food, fashion and lifestyle segments, and Toorak Collegian Marlee Horobin (Class of 2006) co-founder of Primrose Fair, and Toorak Collegian); and Emma Cleine, Principal Director, Designer and Maker at Lumiere Art + Co, and former Head of Art, Multimedia and Design at Toorak College. Future guest speakers may be Collegians, parents, community members or even current or past teachers. To drive the discussion students constructed questions for the panelists such as, “Do you believe your education/training has influenced what you create?”, “What is the best advice you have been given?”, and “What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?” Positive feedback about the first Toorak Talks was overwhelming, with comments from the students like “I loved the way it was set up like a real talk show, it made it really interesting and fun, and better than someone standing there lecturing us!” and “It was a fantastic initiative, so inspiring to have the experience of hearing from these creative people”. Toorak Talks will run throughout the year with the aim of producing two shows a term. Topics for future shows are limitless, suggestions so far include; world issues, book publishing, medical science, sports, journalism, architecture and standup comedy. Toorak Talks is part of the Year 10 learning program, and Year 11 and 12 students are encouraged to attend also. The show is filmed and a video produced for Toorak College’s YouTube channel, and is also uploaded to the Toorak College website www.toorakcollege.vic.edu.au. Log on and enjoy! MORNINGTON NOW OPEN

The Eview Group is excited to announce the opening of their new office in Mornington at 176 Main Street. With a young, vibrant and professional team they are getting set to make a huge impact in the local real estate marketplace. The buzz and energy levels surrounding the new office is electric. Situated in a prominent position in Main Street, formerly the home of Zoni Interiors for 34 years. The principal of Eview Mornington Peninsula Jarrod Carman, is a man known for his passion and his love for his profession and his clients. This energetic environment is evident within all the staff at Eview Mornington Peninsula. “We want our clients to have an excellent experience not just great customer service, an outstanding experience,” stated Mr Carman. “We measure ourselves up not just within the real estate industry, but look outside to see how we can improve the customer experience.” Since the formation of Eview Real Estate Partners just over 7 years ago the company

has done amazing things in the industry and continues to grow. The Mornington office will be the company’s 7th office with a network of agents and staff of over 100. The growth has been achieved through the creation of an amazing culture and an inclusive environment that promotes team work and the drive for the best outcome for their clients. The office at Mornington has a relaxed yet professional feel about it. Embracing new technology and moving away from the traditional look of a real estate agency, the office feels inviting. “We wanted to create an environment where people could come in, sit down and relax and speak with a real estate professional. The sort of environment that you feel welcome and engaged,” said Jarrod. He has extended a welcome to everyone to come in, have a coffee and chat to the team about all your real estate needs. The office is now up and running and look out for their agents who will be coming to a house near you, possibly yours!

The Great Migration OF OUR Giant Spider Crab Every year, thousands of Giant Spider Crabs (Leptomithrax gaimardii) congregate in Port Phillip Bay ahead of their annual winter moult. These crabs are about 20 centimetres long with legs extending up to 40 centimetres and are harmless to humans. When solitary, these crabs are often hard to spot; algae, sponges and sea squirts set up shop on their shells and provide excellent camouflage. However when the crabs aggregate and march, this hungry army is easy to spot. They scavenge whatever food they can find, including the wildlife on the shells of one another. The spectacle of hundreds of large orange crabs against the bare, sandy sea floor is an amazing sight. It’s still a bit of a mystery what the aggregations are all about but we have some ideas from several years of observation. Like many crustaceans, Giant Spider Crabs are protected by their hard body-shell, rather like a suit of armour. The trouble is that a hard shell doesn’t allow room for growth. Crabs must shed their old skin to get bigger; they can expand their size in the brief window before the new skin hardens. The process of moulting takes up to an hour and all the crabs in an aggregation moult almost simultaneously. A soft, freshly-moulted crab is irresistible to predators such as rays, seals and birds. By aggregating in the thousands, an individual

crab reduces its chance of being eaten, much the same way as mammals in herds find protection in numbers. Movement into shallow waters may help the crabs, usually dispersed throughout Port Phillip Bay,

aggregate in a single mass and gain refuge from the strong tidal currents that scour the deep channels. An earlier explanation that the annual aggregations were related to mating has thus far proved unlikely, as following the moulting of tens of thousands of crabs, only the odd couple has been observed to mate. We still don’t know however what happens when they disperse back into deep water. We believe this sudden influx of tender crab meat is an important part of the Port Phillip Bay food chain. Australia’s first artificial snow surface indoor Terrain Park

were there, the night was a great success and the vibes were all time. Shredders were throwing down stunts as the crowd cheered on their performance. The night was also proudly supported by some businesses in the region. Mornington Peninsula Brewery donated some of their fine ale and Pier 10 Winery provided their Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir for the evening. Grazen Cafe did the catering with some mouth watering street style food to suit the occasion. Redbull provided energy drinks that kept the shredders hyped all night. The whole evening was on point and the feedback on the park was outstanding. Massive props to Darren Teasdale from Sno Pics for the action shots! Owner Nick Fergus explains “We are hyped to be introducing Australia’s first artificial snow surface indoor Terrain Park with permanent features for boarders and skiers to ride all year round. It provides riders the ability to be on their boards and skis’ every week practicing new tricks and perfecting their style.” Powderpak is a soft artificial snow surface utilised by all Australian snow resorts. The surface is the closest

thing to the real snow experience. The indoor slope features ramps, jumps and boxes that the riders can perform tricks, the same as if they were at a snow resort. It’s perfect for beginners and early learners for practicing and progressing to the real thing at the snow resorts. Beginners will gain a certain level of competency and will get better value from their lift tickets and equipment hire by the time they get to the resorts. Burton has specially designed learner snowboards available for hire at the PPP and professional tuition is available. It’s an inexpensive way to get started and to build skills fast. Nick continues, “once you get to the snow all the learning has been done. And for experienced riders, there’s the opportunity to practice new tricks and perfect their style on a year round basis.” The Park is located in Carrum Downs Melbourne in a specially designed warehouse giving riders the best off mountain experience. “We see the Powderpak Park as complementing existing offerings at the snow resorts where riders can practice their tricks before hitting the mountains.” said Nick. PPP will inspire continued interest in the resorts and provide an additional avenue for new riders to be

introduced to the sport. What a great way to spend your time, learning a new sport, staying fit and having fun. The park is now open every Wednesday – Friday 6-9pm Saturday and Sunday 12-3pm & 3-6pm (3 hour sessions). Session cost $25 members, $35 non member’s $50 membership fee. Bookings are essential to ensure you get on the slope. Check the website powderpakoz. com for further information. Contact Nick Fergus 0404 898 662 or email info@powderpakoz.com

LOCAL COUPLE REDO THEIR WEDDING Your wedding day has arrived finally, everyone is waiting at the chapel and as you pull up in the bridal car you find that your hired wedding photographer is nowhere to be seen. That’s what happened to local couple Melissa and James four years ago but now,

thanks to Emerald Eye Photography they have some beautiful wedding images. Karen Alsop of Emerald Eye Photography says Melissa and James’ story is one of many wedding photography disasters they received when they started looking for couples to ‘play’ bride and groom at their expansive wedding photography workshop.

“We had no idea of the horror stories that would emerge from couples’ disappointed in their wedding photography. In a non regulated industry just about anyone can pick up a digital SLR and say they are a wedding photographer but the results are often devastating for unsuspecting brides and grooms.” In an effort to train and prepare photographers new to the wedding industry, Emerald Eye Photography decided to organise a ‘real life’ wedding with all the trimmings, and gather together vendors from across the industry to provide a wedding re-do for Melissa and James (and in the future other couples who have disappointing stories about their own wedding photography). “When we put out a call for brides and grooms disappointed in their wedding photography, we never dreamed that the response would be so widespread. We heard from so many couples who had such devastating stories about their wedding photography, from out of focus, badly composed images through to

their photographer not turning up at all,” says Karen. Following their wedding day, Melissa and James ended up with snapshots of their wedding day but no professional images, Karen chose them as their wedding ‘redo’ couple for the Capturing the Moment Wedding Photography Retreat, affording them the opportunity to finally get some wall worthy prints for their home. “My husband and I were lucky enough to be chosen to model for the ‘Capturing the Moment Workshop’ as the bridal couple. We were absolutely astounded by the amount of detail that went to the ‘fake wedding’; it was magical, from the locations to the reception. The professionalism and enthusiasm of the team was nothing short of amazing. A once in a lifetime experience for sure,” says Melissa. “We are so grateful for the opportunity to have had Karen and her amazing team photograph us. We now not only have beautiful photographs to enjoy and pass down to our children but also fond memories of a wonderful

AFTER DISASTER ON WEDDING DAY

3 days of laughter and new friendships.” Karen and the team at Emerald Eye Photography have run photography workshops before with a mock bride and groom, but were thrilled at the difference it made creatively having real life couples to photograph. “The big difference was that natural emotion,” says Karen. “You can see it in the photos and the video we put together. We even had

them write vows for the garden ceremony. The authentic emotion of the day is what we are all about at Emerald Eye Photography so the workshop and photography sessions were realistic.” Each aspect of a wedding was covered at this mock event, from the wedding planner and stylist through to the little details of the bomboniere. Had Melissa and James paid for this wedding the total would have far exceeded $60,000. Every wedding vendor

who got involved gave of their time and resources to make the day truly magical for the couple and a real work of art for the photographers to shoot. Karen says this will probably become a bi-annual event, with the feedback from vendors, the bridal party, and workshop photographers so positive. “We are planning another one for November after this being such an amazing experience

for all involved,” says Karen. “And our photographers got to experience what it is really like being a wedding photographer with the real pressures of time constraints and emotions of the day.” For further details about Emerald Eye Photography, phone 0416 233 451. karen@emeraldeye.biz www.emeraldeye.biz SEE MORE ON WEDDINGS pages 56-65

The Mornington Pier has gone completely bananas and there are fish everywhere! Garfish have finally showed up with silverfish and maggots the hard to beat baits. Some larger schools of salmon have also been patrolling around the pier with small metal lures the best choice. Calamari are still in plague proportions so make sure you have a few IKA jigs in size 2.0 at your disposal. Gunnamatta surf beach has a nice sprinkling of good salmon to 1kg so now is the time to get the old surf rod out. Blue bait and surf poppers are getting them for the bait guys and metal lures in 30 to 40g are doing the job for the lure fisho’s.

WESTERNPORT:

Calamari are the big story this month with some nice big fish coming from the Tyabb and Quail banks as well as some genuine monsters from down south around Ventor. Big jigs are the secret, sizes 3.0 to 4.0 getting it done. Some solid whiting are still up and about on the Middle Spit. 4 to 5m of water with pipi and mussel are getting the bags there.

OUT OF TOWN:

Don’t forget about the insane trout fishing through the winter. Bullen Merri has been producing some big Chinook Salmon on whitebait and glassies and some nice trout are being taken on Tassie Devils. The Rubicon River is also fishing really well with some nice brook trout coming in on Pin’s Minnows. For the full MASSIVE fishing report log onto www.ifish.com.au. You can also text your fishing reports to our reports hotline on 0427 693 759. Keep the reports coming and head on down to Tackle World Mornington to say Hi! Team Tackle World Mornington.

Escape the winter blues and head to a tropical paradise

Whether we like it or not, winter has arrived for 2014. With it comes cold nights clinging to the hot water bottle and agonising wintry mornings where you don’t want to part with the coziness your bed. If you’re dreading the cold days ahead, why don’t you plan an escape from it all and visit far north Queensland? Winter is beach season in Port Douglas. That’s right, beach season. So grab hold of a cocktail, not your hot water bottle; pick up sun tan lotion from the chemist, not cold and flu medicine; and surround yourself in tropical luxury instead of blankets and heaters. During winter, Port Douglas boasts plenty of clear blue skies during the day with comfortable, balmy temperatures in the evening. Unlike our chilly Melbourne suburbs, Port Douglas enjoys temperatures of 25 degrees and over, with average water temperatures of 23 degrees from June to September

Port Douglas’ premier five star resort, Niramaya Villas and Spa, is the ideal destination for your warm winter getaway. Niramaya encapsulates absolute luxury with its exclusive villas nestled amid lush greenery just by the sunny shores of Four Mile Beach. The villas are perfectly suited to those who want to relax and escape with stylish Bali-inspired designs, private heated plunge pools and stone outdoor showers. Indulge in soothing spa treatments, or lounge by the pool in our warm winter sunshine with a cocktail from Rasa Restaurant and Lounge’s poolside bar. Each year, Niramaya gets a huge influx of bookings from June onwards with so many guests heading north to avoid a cold winter at home. Due to this period being so popular, be sure to get online and book early to secure a villa so you can escape the winter blues this year. For more information visit www.niramaya.com.au

WORKS COMMENCED ON MARTHA COVE VILLAGE AT SAFETY BEACH Buoyed by the phenomenal success of Beleura Village Mornington, retirement village developer and operator RCA has recently commenced works on their newest village on the Mornington Peninsula. Martha Cove Village, which is located in the beautiful Martha Cove marina development, will welcome its first residents in early 2015. Interest has been keen since the soft launch of the village last month. “Safety Beach is a much loved part of the Peninsula,” says RCA Sales Manager, Pat Hems. “The Marina has just added to the attractiveness of the locality. Demand has been high – people who live locally are so pleased that they can enjoy a secure retirement without leaving the area they are so fond of. In fact, we have even reserved villas for a couple of our Beleura Village residents so they can ‘return home’ to Safety Beach!” When completed, Martha Cove Village will be boutique in nature, comprising 138 villas and 9 apartments as well as a resort style clubhouse which will be home to the Active Health Centre – a major feature of all RCA villages. “All of our Active Health Centre’s are staffed by qualified health professionals, and provide our residents with information, visiting health services, lifestyle and social engagement programs and emergency assistance support. We are pro-active in ensuring that residents can continue to live independently while having every opportunity to enjoy all the lifestyle elements that the village has to offer.” says RCA Managing Director, Andrew Philip. The clubhouse will feature an indoor swimming pool, spa, gymnasium, consulting rooms for visiting health services, a day spa and hairdressing

salon, library, computer room, billiards room, dining room, bar and lounge areas. Adjacent to the clubhouse, the all weather lawn bowls green will complete the community facilities. RCA will build their three most popular villa designs at Martha Cove, Safety Beach. “The designs can be viewed at Beleura Village, where our displays and sales office is currently located.” says Pat Hems. Each two bedroom, two bathroom brick villa offers a north facing courtyard, open plan living, generous storage, a study and lock up garage. Nine two-bedroom apartments will be located on the second floor of the community clubhouse, each with a generous balcony to enjoy the coastal breeze and views. EUROPEAN SKODA NOW IN FRANKSTON

It’s not often that you find a car with such excellent value for money that looks good and is high quality, but Skoda has definitely done it. The European car without the European price tag is on our very own doorstep in Frankston and sales manager, John Papadopoulos, couldn’t be more thrilled with the feedback. “We have actually been here for about four years now and it’s really taking off with Skoda going through its biggest growth this year. We have six new or face lifted models on sale now and by the end of the year, with the already successful New Octavia and Facelift Fabia, as well as the upcoming New Skoda Rapid, Facelift Yeti, Facelift Superb, and by the end of the year the New Octavia Scout” says John, himself a proud Skoda owner. One of the sister brand’s of Volkswagen, Skoda utilizes the same drive trains, chassis and Volkswagen Group technology with prices starting at $16,990. “We are an entry to the VW brand. There is nothing entry level

however in our build quality, features, technology and the way a Skoda makes you feel when you drive one. They are a real value for money vehicle” says John. “We have a large range of standard equipment included and the new Octavia just received one of the highest safety ratings in Australia’s history.” A man that walks the talk, John started working for Skoda after buying one and has never looked back. “I am definitely passionate about the brand and love the customer feedback we get with people saying we go above and beyond with our customer satisfaction. We even have the Mayor of the City of Casey driving a Skoda, as well as their CEO,” says John. “For the last two years we have been the number one dealer for customer satisfaction Australia wide.” Call in to Peninsula Skoda and see John and Harry to find out more about the Skoda range. FULL OF DELICIOUSNESS Celebrated baker Phillippa Grogan autographed her cookery books and chatted with aspiring chefs at Primrose Fair, a showcase of regional talent and a creative success at Peninsula Community Theatre in May. “I love the peninsula, our family has come down here since I was a child, to our holiday house in Somers,” said Phillippa who has bakeries in Armadale, Brighton, Richmond and Melbourne and is considering adding a peninsula outlet. “A lot of our customers from Melbourne have moved down here personally, in the last eight years, and it’s not far by car so we already supply a lot of people down here.” “A lot of those people, over the last 20 years, have said ‘why don’t you write a book’ so when my co-author Richard Cornish came to me and suggested the same thing, something rang true and I thought that it was probably time to do it. It was a great chance to create the sort of book that I wanted to produce.” “The book itself had a working title of ‘Phillippa’s Home Baking and the Recipes Your Grandmother Should Have Taught You’ and that was what guided us through the

whole book. It assumes no prior knowledge, so it’s designed to entice people who have never baked before. It also presents a range of techniques that could be interesting and challenging for people who have done quite a lot of baking but have not really explored baking’s whole repertoire,” said Phillippa. “Home bakers usually have their specialties. A lot depends on how challenged or lazy I felt like being, so some of the recipes in the book are quick and easy and others are more challenging, but definitely worth every bit of the effort.” “I have so many favourites. I love the mushroom pie and I love the artichoke pie, which is a very elegant dish with a beautiful ricotta pastry and is really simple to make. The bread pancakes are delicious too, they are a bit like a tortilla, something you might bake if friends were coming over for a luncheon. They’re in my favourite chapter: Bread, the Essential ingredient. A whole set of recipes that use bread in them.” “The crumpets with honey-butter are fun to make and eat. The raspberry coconut cake is a cinch to create.” Phillipa’s Home Baking is available at good book outlets including Antipodes in Sorrento and at Phillipa’s stores. Details: phillipas.com.au

LIFE’S TOO SHORT TO DRINK BAD TEA! Running a couple of businesses and being a mother of three adorable children, Stef Boadle certainly has her hands full. But she still manages to see the humorous side to life, saying juggling motherhood and business is successful depending on the day. “As we speak it’s school holidays, my 2 year old refuses to sleep at lunchtime and my 5 and 7 year olds are bouncing basketballs around our small house and yelling “mum mum”! Meanwhile I’m trying to attend to an urgent issue regarding an overseas import! The tricks to juggling motherhood and business? Well it depends on the day,” says Stef with a laugh. Stef runs an online tea store, www.drinkmoretea.com.au and works as a collaborator for www.inspiredheads.com.au, where

she is known as the ‘Lightbulb Girl’ managing events and assisting individuals and businesses with idea generation and execution. As for the tricks to juggling motherhood, Stef says number one is remove any guilt. “We feel guilty about not spending as much time with our kids and working, however consider what a great female role model you are,” says Stef. “Clearly structure times in your day and week that are for work and those special times with the kids. Have a set day for adventure family fun time on the weekend.” Stef Boadle Founder & Chief Tea Drinker at Drink More Tea www.drinkmoretea.com.au

ASSISTANCE WITH ONLINE & SOCIAL MEDIA Chloe Henger is one busy lady, the proud mum of an 18 month old boy, director of E-Assist, and the Associate for Motivating Mums here on the Peninsula. So how does Chloe do it without losing her cool? “E-Assist offers virtual business support including personal assistance and administrative and/or marketing and social media support” says Chloe who also recently took on the associate role at Motivating Mums in Mornington. “It`s challenging working from home with an 18 month old and achieving that work and family balance but I am fortunate to have a

supportive husband and recently enrolled my son in childcare to assist” says Chloe. “In order to grow my business I have also outsourced which allows me to focus on what I do best, which would be my advice to other mums in business as we can’t do everything.” E-Assist started while Chloe was on maternity leave almost two years ago. “I wanted to work from home and have more flexible to do things as a family”. “Originally starting up a virtual business, it had its challenges but with lots of hard work things are starting to fall into place, and now I can honestly say it was a decision well made,” says Chloe.

“I stumbled across Motivating Mums wanting to add a social element to my work life, as working from home can become very isolating. Motivating Mums is designed to help those mums wanting to forge stronger relationships and achieve even more opportunities for their business. Our monthly meetings are held over tea, coffee and pastries, covering referrals, business networking, brainstorming and introductions. The aim is to help each other succeed in launching or growing our businesses and, as babies are allowed, it’s perfect for mums trying to run a business while bringing up a family.” Chloe Henger 0400 039 031 www.e-assistyou.com.au

BABY AND BUSINESS ALL AT ONCE When interior designer, Kristen England was pregnant she decided it was the perfect time to go out on her own and set up her own business, and so after son Clay was born, so was her online business, Ivore. Now 15 months later, Kristen is running a successful online interior design store while raising her young son. “Juggling motherhood and working is a bit easier when you work for yourself,” says Kristen, who says she does most of her work when the baby is asleep or in the evening. “The truth is you do what you can when you have time. I work around Clay and his sleeps as well as having the support of wonderful grandparents who babysit when I need to attend a meeting.” Kristen says that working your own hours is a godsend, with a small child, it’s hard to be regimented.

JUNE 2014 (32)

“You can definitely make a business work with a child if you can be flexible with your hours.” Ivore is an online store, set up by Kristen who has worked in Interior Design for 12 years. “The products range from boutique and quality furniture through to beautiful everyday home-wares and décor,” says Kristen. “The Bridal Gift Registry is Ivore’s latest adventure and one that has got the locals talking about. It’s more than your traditional registry service and offers a personal one on one experience with Kristen’s interior expertise.” And if that’s not enough, the busy mum also does property styling for those selling their homes. The Frankston District Junior Football League in conjunction with AFL South East kicked off the inaugural Junior Girls and Youth Girls Competition on Sunday May 18 in front of great crowds across Frankston and the Peninsula. With such a high profile build up and many weeks of training, the girls hit the park with excitement and enthusiasm. Both competitions are being played over a 10 round season with the Junior Girls Division being aimed at players aged 9 to 13 and the Youth Girls aimed at players aged 14 to 18. Within the Junior Girls Division is a team from Rosebud JFC (MPJFL) and a ‘combined’ team, made up of players from various FDJFL clubs who didn’t have the numbers to field a team in their own right. The other clubs fielding teams in Junior Girls include Seaford JFC, Mt Eliza JFC and Langwarrin JFC. Clubs fielding teams within the Youth Girls Division include Seaford JFC, Mt Eliza JFC, Langwarrin JFC, Edithvale-Aspendale JFC and Frankston Rovers. In announcing the structure of the two divisions, FDJFL President Stuart Mason described the response to female football in the region as ‘exceeding expectations’. “To think that at the start of this year we had one club coming to us saying they wanted to do this and now we have ten teams, two competitions and hundreds of girls ready to take the field is beyond our wildest dreams,” Mason said. “All credit goes to the clubs for driving the initiative within their communities which has snowballed to great effect.” AFL South East Region General Manager Jeremy Bourke

described the inauguration as exciting and progressive. “To have ten teams enter the first year is very impressive and reflects on the professionalism and vision of these clubs. When discussions were first held, we were hopeful of attracting enough players to field 3 or 4 teams. It just shows there is an appetite for female football on the Peninsula and with further promotion and development, this has the potential, in a very short period of time, to be one of the leading female programs in Australia.” He also noted that there are a number of other clubs and leagues in the planning stages for the 2015 season. The introduction of the Junior and Youth Girls competitions comes on the back of the selection of 3 girls from the MPJFL in the Vic Metro Girls U18 Team. Georgia Walker and Lizzie Muir from the MPJFL Youth Girls Team (which competes in the South East Juniors) and Jordy Allen from Rye U14s were selected for the carnival which again demonstrates the talent that exists within the region. - Scott Grimster

Just like the name says, Little Kickers is a soccer program for littlies from 18 months until their 7th birthday, and has now been running on the Mornington Peninsula for three years. Nick of Little Kickers says “Many of our kids have been with us since we started three years ago. It’s a very proud moment when we see one of our Little Kickers playing for proper teams and see how much they have learnt with us, and how great their understanding is after learning the grass roots of the game and getting such a strong foundation from us.” Little Kickers hold classes 6 days a week on the Mornington Peninsula as well as running birthday parties, childcare and kindergarten incursions. There are four age groups in the Little Kickers program, focusing on different levels of development. “We speak their language and work

with their imaginations teaching them soccer skills as well as many other skills like social, colours, listening, following instructions,” says Nick. “This is all done through themed games, they may be pirates one week or spacemen the next. The key to Little Kickers is we make it fun, vibrant and engaging.” Look out for Lenny the Lion, Little Kickers’ new mascot, appearing at events all over. “You may even spot him walking down Mornington Main Street,” say Nick. Providing there is a space available in the class you are interested in, Little Kickers invite you to attend a free trial before you make a commitment to enrol. arts CONCERT GRAND PIANO AT BELEURA’S NEW TALLIS PAVILLION

POSTCARDS

Called The Tallis Pavilion, seating up to 120 people, it is home to a magnificent Stuart & Sons Concert Grand Piano – Huon Pine Case, an extra octave, another foot pedal, a radical departure from the standard historic configuration, this wonderful piano sounds as good as it looks. The Tallis Pavilion, a very elegant building, features great acoustics, very comfortable chairs and a huge chandelier – a perfect setting for a series of exciting recitals by renowned musicians, Timothy Young, Stefan Cassomenos and the venue for the annual opera (not) in the garden – Christmas Bon Bons, this year continuing the story of “The Gallant Gondoliers”.

But possibly the highlight of the musical year here will be a repeat in September /October of a stand out performance at the opening of the Pavilion, when Timothy Young who is head of Music at the Australian National Academy of Music, finished the recital with his version of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue – a standing eruption of applause, as much for the superb talent of the performer as for the remarkable virtuosity of the piano. Beleura House and Garden opens a new phase in its history – a beautiful new performance space opened by His Excellency The Governor of Victoria on 2nd April 2014 in front of a huge crowd, including many members of the now far flung Tallis Family.

Stories from the Mornington Peninsula The early history of some of the peninsula’s most popular holiday spots will go on exhibition from June, exploring when holidaying was a grand pastime and memories were shared by the iconic postcard. Over the past three years the peninsula’s eight historical societies have gathered special objects and stories from Rye, Balnarring, Sorrento, Mornington, Hastings, Somerville, Dromana and Flinders. The exhibition will be launched to the public by the Mornington Peninsula Local History Network and Mornington Peninsula Shire at 1.30pm on Sunday 8th June at the Sorrento Museum. Following the launch, the exhibition will be on display at Sorrento Museum before touring the peninsula and finally being shown at the Royal Historical Society of Victoria in Melbourne. An audio visual presentation and online education kit have also been developed to complement the exhibition.

Winter Salon exhibition of Aboriginal art at Shoreham

Oakhill in June Hot on the heels of Oak Hill Gallery’s super successful Cigar Box exhibition, the gallery will present Figuratively Speaking from June 1-25. The new display will highlight a range of works by the Mornington Peninsula Painting and Drawing group. Oak Hill Gallery is located at 100 Mornington Tyabb Road, next to the rose garden. Details: 5973 4299 or oakhillgallery.com.au

New works that feature in the Winter Salon exhibition at Whistlewood, Shoreham presented by the art company McCulloch & McCulloch include a range of vibrant landscapes by the artists of the Eastern Desert community of Ampilatwatja who paint views of the land on ‘which the dreaming stories sit’ rather than the iconography of dreaming stories themselves.

An art consultancy and private gallery, Whistlewood is located in an 1870s cottage which has been the family home and business headquarters of the McCulloch family of art writers, curators, gallery directors and publishers since 1951. With rural aspects to Westernport Bay, Whistlewood presents approximately 5 special exhibitions annually, holds regular open days and events and is open by appointment at other times.

Other new works include glowing paintings from leading artists and rising stars of the APY Land centres of Ernabella, Tjala and Tjungu Palya, textured ochres from the Kimberley and finely crafted barks from the Arnhem Land centres of Maningrida and Yirrkala. Launching the exhibition is an illustrated talk by leading author, curator and art historian Dr Janine Burke. In Australia, we have celebrated the monarch’s birthday every year since the First Fleet arrived in 1788. Queen Elizabeth II is the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states, us Aussies being one of those. She was born on April 21, 1926 but her birthday is celebrated on a separate date. So why is this so you ask? Until 1936 it was always celebrated on the King or Queen’s actual birth date. That year, King George V, Elizabeth’s grandfather, died. Guess what ? His birthday was June 3 so the ‘Monarch’s birthday holiday’ has remained around this date in June in all Australian states and territories except WA. What happens on Queens Birthday Weekend? It’s officially the opening of the Australian ski season, a cause for celebration of itself.

On the Mornington Peninsula, we particularly celebrate with the Winter Wine Weekend and Mornington’s Jazz festival. And there’s the footy, Collingwood playing Melbourne at the MCG on the Monday. The holiday also breaks up the many-month span from Easter to Melbourne Cup Day. So enjoy the Queen’s Birthday, the next public holiday is a long way off.

Along with Lucrece, Mt. Eliza Beauty is launching a new DNA/EGF renewal cream line from leading USA research dermatologist, Dr. Ronald Moy. The doctor has had many articles recently written about him in the USA regarding his skin repair ingredients. He says “Repair the Past, Protect the Future” and see the difference. Dr. Moy spent years researching cellular repair at UCLA and is a leader in the treatment of skin cancers. Sue says, “For years, retinoid products have been the go-to solution for dermatologists and skin repair. Now new discoveries are showing the benefits of Epidermal Growth Factors. DNA/EGF creams do not do anything our bodies don’t already do. Our skin cells have enzymes that repair the damage when DNA gets broken down, but in some cases the process is not as efficient as it could be, and new discoveries with enzymes may assist in this repair.” “The DNA/Growth Factors are from Iceland, bioengineered from barley – making it safe, stable and effective. Many DNA/EFG products on the market, including some major brands are made using ecoli – they are not so stable, and do not work as well, not to mention the use of bacteria.” Do you know what you are using on your skin? THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING

“We bring all the latest advances in science and technology taking great pride in that The Strand Clinic is not like any other hair loss or scalp treatment clinic. We deliver on our promises and we deliver on the results, with no exceptions and no excuses. Clients only pay for results, No contracts here!” Gregory states. “Though not all hair loss conditions are the same we are fully committed to effective, responsible and ethical treatments for hair loss and hair regrowth.” Thinning hair and hair loss affects men and women of all ages. The cause of hair loss are often genetic, however other causes such as diet, pesticides in foods along with the GMO’s (Genetically Modified Foods) can mean we experience mineral deficiencies and poor nutrition absorption. Some medications and stress often contribute to hair loss. Gregory continues “Just look at the ingredients in your shampoos, conditioners and styling aids. What are those products actually doing to the scalp and follicles, I assure you there is a combination of these factors that play major rolls in today’s society for I am seeing younger and often more females with thinning, dull lifeless hair to extreme cases.” “Up to one third of the world’s population

This hair loss control and recovery system I have created is effective, and the results speak for themselves but the recovery process can take up to 12 to 18 months, but you will get it back. Katie had tried many other programs, that worked for a short period but then she lost interest. When asked why the Hanley’s 8 Week Transformation Challenge worked, Katie responded, “I think it works because it gives you the tools, the support and the mindset to change the way you think about food and exercise. It creates a strong mind and body and the flexibility to continue long past the 8 week challenge. You have these for life”. Katie was able to lose 29kgs (over two 8 Week Challenges) which translates into an amazing 165cm that she shed off her body. Now almost 6 months since Katie completed the 8 Week Challenge, she Tim Melville – h ealth & lifestyle back on track AGE: 51 Years OCCUPATION: General Manager STARTING WEIGHT: 90kg FINISHING WEIGHT: 78Kg Over the past few years Tim noticed that his weight was on the rise as well as his blood pressure and cholesterol. Tim’s daughter Olivia had been training at Hanley’s Fitness and encouraged her dad to take on the 8 Week Transformation Challenge. The results have been life changing. Before the 8 Week Challenge Tim had poor nutritional habits, struggled to run and had a minimal amount of strength training behind him. Looking beyond those 8 weeks, Tim now runs 10km in under an hour and looks forward to running sessions. Apart from the amazing strength and fitness results that Tim achieved, the most positive results came from his 12kg weight loss and the significant reduction in blood pressure and cholesterol, which have gone from being extremely high to now being in a healthy range. The results have been life changing. Tim credits Hanley’s Fitness expert advice and supportive culture for his transformation. “The team at Hanley’s Fitness have helped me understand how to incorporate fitness into my

Friendships are the flavour of the month. You may socialise one on one or perhaps a group or club plays a major role in your life right now. Either way you are likely to benefit from the alliances that you forge during June. Usually Leos like to lead but this month team work is the key

Your personal finances come under the microscope this month. It is time to review your income and spending habits. You may benefit from advice given by others. Communications with neighbours and siblings are also highlighted. A short journey may prove fruitful in many ways.

Your public life is highlighted in June. This means that you would be wise to consider your career options, heed the advice of authority figures, and generally reflect on your purpose. In some cases your relationship with your mother may also require some attention.

Hopefully you made the most of your quiet moments last month because June is busy indeed. You are presented with many personal choices this month particularly as planets move into your Zodiac Sign mid month. Self esteem and personal finances are highlighted.

What gives you joy in life? This is your question for June. This is the month to get back on track if your job has become a little stale or if you feel that you have lost direction. On the other hand if you feel that your life has purpose then you are likely to experience joyful moments in June.

Gemini

Cancer

June is a month of contrasts for the Crabs of the Zodiac. On one hand you need to retreat and hold your own counsel. On the other hand you are busy juggling many tasks. Perhaps all is not as it seems right now. Discretion is required no matter how tempted you are to blurt out the truth.

The emphasis is on home and family this month. It is time to get your house in order. You may be tempted to spend your money on something pleasurable. This could be a new “toy”, object de arte or perhaps an item that boosts your enjoyment at home.

Relationships, both business and personal, take centre stage in June. This is the ideal time to assess in what and in whom you are investing your valuable time and energy. Are your investments paying off or are you wasting your time? Make the changes now and satisfaction results. Your work colleagues play an important role in your life this month. You have some creative ideas but will they pay off? Advice from others who have experience and expertise is likely to be beneficial. You also need to focus on your work/life balance during June.

Your private life continues to demand your attention this month. However now you reap the benefits of past efforts. You can have fun, perhaps with children. Your health regime can also be a source of pleasure. Walking, yoga, the gym or another fun activity can boost your energy.

It is time to have some fun. This may mean spending time with children who can be a great source of pleasure, or taking part in your own enjoyable activities. What gives you joy? Take some time to create some space in your own home so that you can relax and enjoy your private life.

Connecting the past with the present The fog bears down along the shore line and pushes me up Ocean Beach Road. In the distance, the sound of a fog horn forlornly bleats across the sea and into this space where time stands still and tells the story of what has gone before.

Welcome to the beautiful township of Sorrento and the local institution that is Marlene Miller Antiques. Marlene Miller has over thirty years’ experience in dealing with precious things that reveal so much about whom we once were. The first thing that catches my eye is the glorious gold and ‘lava from Pompeii’ black cameo adorning her neck – 1870 in a snap shot. Then there are the Gold Rush rings, necklaces and mourning brooches (which usually come with locks of hair inside) in the glass cabinet and the incredible range of contemporary jewellery by designer Simon Kushnir and other renowned jewellers. Miller talks; ‘I’ve noticed the younger generation are becoming more interested in antiques. Teenagers are starting to love the stuff – the tea sets, crystal, Australiana or industrial lighting – and opals too. In my grandmother’s

t: 03 5984 1762 m: 0438 537 757

day it was believed to be unlucky to mine opals, so they weren’t so popular’. (This was a rumour perpetuated by the diamond merchants when they were discovered for obvious reasons!) ‘Now-a-days the younger kids don’t know anything about that so they are back in style’. Ms Miller knows style too, and that’s what is so appealing about this treasure trove of eclectic artefacts. From the French leather upholstered rocker in the window, to the Japanese screens, Black Lady Lamps, wrought iron umbrella stands, instruments and Bentwood Chairs, Marlene Miller’s eagle eye takes you to some where you’ve never been. She holds up her hand: ‘My great grandmother and grandmother wore these rings and my grandchildren will wear them too’ she points out. And that’s what it’s all about; the story continuing - just like the fog which keeps rolling in to shore and out to sea. Weddings on the Peninsula WOW A PORTSEA WEDDING BEACHSIDE When you book your wedding at the Portsea Hotel, you will have the personalised service of wedding co-ordinator, Shannon Lott every step of the way. “Each bride and groom have their own, individual requirements and we are here to make their day everything they envisage,” says Shannon. “I am passionate about co-ordinating each wedding and I make myself available to each bride to contact throughout the whole wedding planning process. I personally meet with the bride and groom to discuss the finer details and answer any questions they may have.” Shannon has been a wedding co coordinator at the Hotel for about six years and you can tell she loves her job after winning best wedding coordinator at the Australian Bridal Awards this year. “The Hotel also won two awards, best hotel reception and in accommodation first night honeymoon,” says a very proud Shannon. “I have to thank my amazing brides and grooms for rating us with almost perfect scores. We work extremely hard to ensure each couple have the wedding of their dreams and this was reflected at the Australian Bridal Industry Awards. It is nice that everyone’s hard work was recognised, all of the staff at the hotel contribute towards the weddings and the accommodation so

these awards are a credit to us all at the Portsea Hotel. I am very passionate about my job and working with each bride and groom is such a rewarding experience, I am very appreciative of their votes.” Shannon says she definitely works hard but seeing each gorgeous couple on their wedding day makes it such a rewarding job to have. “I really enjoy working with people and this job gives me the opportunity to work alongside each couple while planning their wedding day. I also work closely with the chefs, managers and function staff and I couldn’t do it without all of their hard work. I feel so lucky to have found a job that is so rewarding and that I am truly happy in,” she says. So what sort of person does it take to be successful in this highly competitive wedding industry? Shannon says her background of hospitality since she was 13 has definitely helped. “I have worked in hospitality on the peninsula for many years and I have always loved working with customers. Before becoming the wedding coordinator I was part of the Portsea Hotel functions team, waitressing at weddings and helping with the set up of the ceremonies and receptions,” says Shannon. “Over this time I have built up strong working relationships with all the staff here at the hotel and this helps me to work with staff during the preparation of each wedding. I think this background has also given me an insight into how each wedding is unique, and how important the day is to not only the bride

and groom but also their families.” Shannon says the Portsea Hotel is unique from other venues firstly because of the great location. “The wedding ceremony area and reception rooms have uninterrupted views of Port Phillip Bay. This backdrop is the perfect setting for a wedding,” says Shannon. “Unlike other venues I am the direct contact person for each couple, and this makes it more personal. I aim to make the process as stress free as possible and I am here to help every step of the way. This personal approach gives couples the piece of mind that everything is being looked after and their day will come together smoothly. We also have our own dedicated wedding chefs who design and create our wedding menus. All of our menu items are prepared fresh, inhouse by this team of chefs. The menus have choices to cater for a variety of tastes and needs and the quality of the food is second to none.” The Portsea Hotel has everything in the one venue with 25 rooms in accommodation, and a stunning bridal suite. In fact in four years of owning the Heritage, Gail has had no two weddings the same. “Each bride is encouraged to customise her wedding so that it fits with her dream,” says Gail. “We work with our bride and groom so their day is not a predictable “cookie cutter” format. We have done casual finger food style weddings, morning tea weddings, lunch weddings and the full three course sit down formally styled wedding. Having a large deck area, a Victorian restaurant with fireplaces and a whimsical wedding 9:44 AM garden and two acres of grounds enables us to provide this range.”

The Heritage is also partnering with ”lvore”, is a wedding registry and on line store. This is particularly valuable if guests are arriving from overseas and interstate. They can purchase a gift from the registry and have their selection wrapped in beautiful papers and delivered on the day. Just married Kirsty and Terry Searle

I now pronounce you…

Marriage Celebrant Janette Ellis feels honoured to be part of one of life’s very special moments. ‘I love making couple’s dreams come true’ says this former public speaker, MC and teacher who has been a business operator on the peninsula for many years. ‘I develop a ceremony around each client’s personality. No two weddings are the same. I want everyone to feel comfortable and confident’. This is where her experience as a MC comes in. ‘I organise all rehearsals and legal documents and use state of the art PA/Music systems that have USB, MP3, CD and Ipod/Iphone connectivity’. Janette loves all the couples she has married but two special ceremonies come to mind. ‘One was a very

emotional hospital ceremony where we all squeezed into a small room and the bride’s children sang. The other was a beach ceremony. The bride flew in and fell into the water while stepping from the plane to the jetty! At the end of the ceremony the groom scooped her up and jumped into the water and the bridal party followed!’ Very unique, and a unique service is what you’ll get with this fresh and flexible celebrant who has been working in the industry since 2007 and is currently studying to be a Justice of the Peace. Having performed weddings in outback stations and on desert islands, Janette believes the peninsula offers couples the ultimate in ceremonial locations. Add her flexible and passionate

approach to combining traditional ceremony with a modern interpretation and you’ve got an experience you’ll never forget.

WEDDINGS AT HICKINBOTHAM Everybody loves a good wedding and Hickinbotham of Dromana has some absolute beauties, each and every one with its own signature feel and character, reflective of the couple being married. For some it is the great range of wines that attracts them, some the fact that Hickinbotham make their own craft beers. For many it’s just the atmosphere and ambience of the cellar door, with its rustic charm and relaxed feel and the view from

JUNE 2014 (32)

the terrace across the vines to the bay on a beautiful day is spellbinding. Whatever the attraction, the Hickinbotham weddings are talked about for years after, and couples regularly return for anniversaries, to show off new babies, and to reminisce about their special day. Summer is now well and truly over and the clear skied autumn days are fading into cool evenings and crisp mornings with crunchy grass and creeping sea fogs. Autumn is the

second most popular time for weddings because of the beautiful stable weather, not too hot or cold, still okay for strapless dresses and great for photographers. The coloured leaves just about to fall, vibrant against the green of fresh mown grass. No matter what season, your wedding day is one to make truly your own, honouring your commitment to each other and marks the first day of your new life together. Ph 5981 0355 www.hickinbotham.biz

CUNNING LOCATION

A surprising arrival in Pitt Street, Mornington, Quercus restaurant now occupies space that was formerly a nursing agency and is actually a part of the Wilsons Road milk bar building. A cunning location, well away from Main Street’s hustle and bustle. Grandly offering fine formal dining, Quercus, meaning ‘oak’ in Latin, is gaining a positive reputation among local gourmands, who are returning for the food. Within the modest facade, Quercus’ simply-styled decor punctuates neutrally coloured grey walls with starched white tablecloths and a monumental deep-hued timber bar and counter. All created largely with the sweat and toil of proprietors Matt and Amy McKenzie-McHarg. “We hunted for a place like this, all the way from Seaford down to McCrae. This spot met our brief’ “ said Amy.

“We were aiming to create something similar to a winery experience but here in the heart of Mornington. We wanted beautiful fresh produce in an amazing dining environment. Not a hurried experience.” Homely, warm and sedate. Not slabs of colour and concrete and noise. “It’s also somewhere nice for the locals to go,” said chef Matt. “Our vision was to create something similar to where, as a couple, you might get invited to a friend’s house. There you enjoy a nicely set table and a fabulous meal,” Matt added. Everything on the menu is made on-premises. Entrees include a rich vegetable consume. A broth created with mushrooms, snow peas and tomatoes, topped with a quenelle of parmesan ‘custard’ ($15). It’s a soup experience. Main courses feature a two-point

lamb rack and shoulder ($35) perfectly braised and unpretentiously accompanied by a piece of puffpastry, a line of pea-puree, multicoloured heirloom Dutch carrots, and a mint jus. A lovely lamb roast. Mains also include quail, eye fillet and local snapper. Duck breast is served with cleverly cooked lentils, broccolini and a saffron-carrot puree. “I’ve aimed to take old-school food, and not re-invent the wheel, but just make it really nice,” Matt said. Classy desserts include sticky date soufflé and white chocolate panna cotta. The wine list ranges through 18 carefully selected choices. Reds cost $35-$90 a bottle. Modestly priced for the quality offered, Quercus is a restaurant that the area richly deserves. Located at 24 Pitt Street, Mornington, phone 5975 3067. Haydn Godony

SIMPLE ITALIAN FOOD Breathing a fresh lease of life into the Moorooduc Coolstore, Doppiozero Restaurant has spread Italian-influenced dining a little further onto the peninsula. The site’s first eatery was a very successful Italian restaurant in the late 80s run by Olimpia Bortolotto and Cheryl Hayes. Now re-born as a bustling eatery with an urban feel, central to Somerville and Mt Eliza, Doppiozero was opened in

January by Marisa and Claudio Chiavelli, as a sister venue to Ciao Bella in Balnarring. “We are in a great place, here at the Coolstore” said Marisa “The position is in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time it’s close to everywhere.” “I do believe that if you have the right product, people will come to you. We are surrounded by residential. Our motto, which is similar to Ciao Bella, is ‘simple Italian food’. We try hard to source seasonal local produce. Then, with our Italian chefs, it’s just easy to put everything together.” “One of our key messages is ‘Come try something new’, in a lovely spot, with lots to look at, and a bit of a story and history.” “My family are pizza pioneers. My dad, Costantino Chiavelli, opened Sophia’s in Camberwell in 1970, he was the original owner. He sold it and we moved to Italy, and we ran two restaurants there.” “We returned to Australia in the 80s and opened L’osteria in Carlton. Dad’s was one of the first pizzeria’s to serve a thin, crisp Italian pizza with prosciutto. We were very popular with restaurant people because we were one of the first places with good Italian style pizza.” The Doppiozero menu expands way beyond pizza. A signature-dish starter is the local pan-fried calamari. Lightly floured and shallow fried then served with some rocket salad, orange and shaved fennel - a crispy, crunchy and inviting beginning. Most of the main courses are designed to share. A ‘We feed you’ menu is featured, where diners can simply enjoy their friend’s company while the Doppiozero team serves up a string of house specialties beginning with antipasta and calamari followed by pizza to share. Popular main meal choices include house-made gnocci and pork sausages served with broccolini, a good winter dish. A list of daily specials, on a pull-down brown paper roll include: Cacciucco scampi with blue swimmer crab, prawns and mussels in a tomato-chilli sauce and sword fish cutlets served with crispy fried zucchini and fresh salad. Doppiozero has lots of easy parking, located at the corner of the Moorooduc Highway and Eramosa Road, Moorooduc. Phone 5978 8970. Haydn Godony

PRISTINE POLPERRO Sam Coverdale is proof that with hard work, dedication and passion you can make your dreams come true. Lucky for us his just happened to culminate on the Mornington Peninsula with the opening of Polperro Wines in Red Hill. “I reckon I have the best job in the world. It’s part agriculture, part science, and part marketing, with a good dose of creativity thrown in,” says Sam, who with his wife, Emma, came to the peninsula six years ago. “It’s been a dream and very surreal. I wanted to do this since I started as a young wine maker,” says the man who has spent years in Europe and regions across Australia making wine and learning the trade, starting out as a cellar hand and working his way up. “I

a stunning renovation

finally settled on the Mornington Peninsula as it is one of the most beautiful regions in the world.” Like all good love stories, Sam’s introduction to the peninsula came from his wife Emma, who was originally from Victoria and had spent much time on the peninsula. “Emma loves the peninsula and one day got in my ear and we moved here and have never looked back,” says Sam with a laugh. And as for the name, Polperro, that too was all part of the serendipity, the name coming from a village in Cornwell where the couple’s parents had both spent time. “My wife’s father used to work as a dentist in Polperro, and my own father had lived there as well,” says Sam. “We both grew up with similar photographs of the village so it seemed natural to name our winery after it.” Today, the original photograph of Polperro can be seen in the cellar door, thousands of miles from where the name originated. “When Emma and I first met and living in NSW we used to joke about getting our own label called Polperro and now here we are,” says Sam, who has enjoyed notoriety with his wine, Even Keel, established in 2006 with a view to creating drinkable, balanced and elegant wines. “The Mornington Peninsula is the perfect home for Polperro and Even Keel, and with the opening of Polperro Bistro and Cellar Door we now have a home/

( 76 The peninsula’s favourite funky SQUARE magazine

destination to showcase our wines,” says Sam. After its opening in early May, Polperro Bistro and Cellar Door is fast becoming one of the most popular peninsula wineries with the venue designed by Hecker Guthrie who has created an earthy, warm and inviting space with palette derived from nature. “The opening was fantastic and we have been booked solidly over the weekends ever since,” says Sam. “It’s been a long process, a complete renovation of the property we bought in October last year. The first stage was to fully open up the vineyard, overhaul the garden and a full renovation of the building to create a modern yet comfortable feel.” To ensure that everything is top quality, Sam has employed Head Chef, Andy Doughton, former chef and owner of The Long Table for the bistro. “We use produce from our own gardens that are being lovingly designed by Camilla Lazzar of Heronswood/Diggers, and of course produce from around the peninsula,” says Sam. With such passion and enthusiasm for his winemaking, an already successful bistro and cellar door, you can’t help wonder what’s next from this young couple who now both share a love for our wonderful peninsula. Open Thursday to Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday for a long lunch and Monday lunch. Polperro Wines, 150 Red Hill Road, Red Hill. Phone 5989 2471. www.polperrowines.com.au

Michael Buble Tribute Show Chef Brad Sampson

FUN & FINE FOOD CONTINUE AT HARBA Some wonderful ways to warm up your winter, with fine food and excellent entertainment, on offer through June at Harba Oyster Bar and Grill in Mornington. Chef Brad Sampson presents a fine array of tasting and sharing platters along with the expected favourites and daily specials, always readily matched with a choice wine or beer. “If a couple want to call in for a drink and just enjoy some prawns or scallops or sliders, we love to cater for that,” said Brad. A fresh emphasis on seafood includes a whole baby snapper presented as a ‘wow factor’ dish. The fish is scored then tossed in rice flour and deep fried till crispy, sitting curved in a basket and then served upright in a broth of miso, fennel, sesame, oysters, mushrooms and spring onions. Fish lovers also adore the pan-roasted blue-eye served on cauliflower puree laced with garlic, sage and spooned with orange-infused burnt butter sauce, all matched with a pear, fennel and blue cheese salad. Brad frequently updates the menu for Harba’s $30 twocourse lunch special, from Tuesday to Friday. Lunch is really popular with groups of girls and business bods, and includes a glass of wine or beer as part of the deal. June will be a huge month of shows at Harba. “I do a comedy mind-reading show and I throw in a couple of dangerous stunts, including one involving razor blades and broken glass. Raise your glasses for Mt Martha’s Rasoi Jag and his team have done a great job. This place has a large menu that caters to those liking a bit of spice, and those not super keen on a raging inferno. Entree was a tough choice, I personally recommend the onion bhaji’s and vegetable samosa’s (the pastry on these

are a real treat) there is also tandoori entree menu, which is not seen in many places. The service here is brilliant, welcoming and getting warmed plates is always a treat for the main meal. Servings are so close to traditional, as they appeared, the lamb rogan josh was fresh with herbs and obviously made from a good cut of meat. Saag paneer made with freshly cut spinach home cooked style with a twist and the Malai kofta’s are a recommendation, this was simply amazing. To complement all of this fine Indian fare, tandoori breads came out; garlic naan and aloo paratha. I have to say this is the best Indian food I have experienced outside of india. The price was a very pleasant surprise too. I certainly will be taking advantage of their speedy take away service in times of need. And open 7 days from 5pm, now that’s another bonus! Rumour HAS IT

Well it’s finally opened, the old South Beach Café in Mt Martha is now Rumours. Another great addition to our dining scene by Anna Gentre – think Via Boffe, La Zucchera and more. Her signature coffee and donuts are becoming ever so famous on the peninsula and yes I love them! Rumours has had a FAB over haul, the new look is spacious, fresh, beachside with some lovely ‘Anna’ touches including her ever so thoughtful memes floating around. This place is sure to rock with a dinner experience, brekky, and lunch. It won’t be long before Rumour is FACT that there’s a stayer in town. Well done Anna. I’m not religious but maybe there is a god at God’s Kitchen with the amazing steaks, darts, pints, pizza and staff that actually want to be there. Gods Kitchen has grown into it’s skin and now has a true place in town. The kitch decor, mixed with it’s eclectic music taste and on trend beer on tap, sets it apart from being just another watering hole. The food here is simply a surprise that will have you coming back for more. Menu choice is extensive and great value. Pizzas around $18 and best on ground hands down. If your timing is right you might get some live music thrown in too. I heard it is also open for breakfasts on weekends, watch this space! If this is what Gods Kitchen looks like I can’t wait to go to heaven. Gods Kitchen, 53 Barkly Street Mornington Open Wednesday to Sunday Phone 5976 8666

DECOR HOME GARDEN SNOOZE HAS DONE IT AGAIN WITH THE PERFECT BedMATCH FOR YOU Snooze Mornington, led by husband and wife team Sarah and Kade Miller, has done it again with its amazing BedMATCH system, designed to create the perfect mattress for everybody. “Pocket springs, coil springs, memory foam, gel foam…it can be so confusing finding the right mattress for you,” says Sarah. “Thank goodness there is BedMATCH.” Available exclusively at Snooze, the free, instore BedMATCH system takes the guesswork out of buying a bed. “The relaxing BedMATCH process feels like a gentle massage as it measures you to recommend mattresses providing the best postural support for your body type,” says Sarah. “No other bedding retailer offers this level of detailed analysis and given your mattress is designed to last 10- to 15 years we want to make sure it’s going to be the right one for you”. Fitting you to the right mattress is similar to finding the right pair of glasses, or the right

running shoes…it’s different for everybody. “Mattresses are not made with one size to fit all, that’s why BedMATCH recommends only those mattresses, with the right combination of materials for you and it’s not limited to one brand or one price level, BedMATCH gives you a list of all the mattresses at Snooze which match your personal profile, then it’s just a matter of trying each one in the price point you feel most comfortable with to make a decision. From humble beginnings Snooze has grown into a premier bedroom retailer on the Peninsula. With a team of locals from Safety Beach, Rye, Red Hill, Mount Martha and Mornington the Snooze Mornington family bases its reputation on happy customers who ‘spread the word’. DECOR HOME GARDEN Most gardeners will tell you that their compost is the life source of their garden. For those with an edible garden composting is important for you to maintain the health and fertility of your crops. While the primary function of composting is to recycle nutrients in order to return them to our soil to feed our plants, it also helps to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill, thus helping to reduce the impact our households have on the wider environment. Many families these days will have a compost bin out the back of the yard in which food scraps, leaves and lawn clippings are housed. Unfortunately often these bins do little to help break down your waste in the short term and serve only as a storage vessel and beacon to small flies and mice. You will find that over time the waste does break down, but it can take many, many months and rots rather than composts. While there are many ways to compost, there are a three main composting methods that homeowners can use to recycle their food and garden waste; compost heaps (including bays and bins), worm-farms and liquid manures. Bulk garden waste, spent crops and lawn clippings can go into the traditional compost heap, compost bay or compost bin. It is important though that the compost receive sufficient oxygen to feed

the bacterial driving force at the heart of your compost. You need to also ensure that the pile has adequate moisture, is layered well and has a good ratio of dry to wet matter (carbon to nitrogen). It is worth doing some research in order to understand the composting process better to produce optimum results. The easiest way to deal with kitchen food waste is to use a wormfarm. These can be readily purchased from nurseries and hardware stores, though it is easy to make your own using recycled materials such as polystyrene boxes, bathtubs or old rubbish bins. When used well, worm-farms don’t tend to smell as much as the common compost bin. You also get the added benefit of a constant supply of worm-juice and worm-castings, some of the best natural fertilisers you can get (depending on what you feed them of course). Weeds can also be composted, but not with your garden waste compost system. We can use weeds separately to form liquid manures thus retaining the goodness they have drawn from the soil. Old bins work well for this purpose. If you grow comfrey, nettle, nasturtiums or abundant herbs these will all benefit your liquid manure by increasing the range of nutrients and minerals in your solution. Composting needn’t be confined to a single plastic bin in the back corner of your garden. Using a combination of systems can provide you with an array of ready to use fertilisers for your food crops by retaining many of the nutrients that are coming out of your garden and kitchen.

Happy composting. Drew Cooper Edible Gardens www.ediblegardens.com.au
