Fall 2006

Homecoming 2006 A promising sophomore quarterback will lead a young Bears team as Morgan State University takes on Delaware State University Saturday, October 21st in what is being billed as Homecoming 2006 “The Evolution of Champions.” “Alumni can expect to see the Morgan Bears play a great football game at Hughes Stadium, and to participate in other campus activities,” said Floyd Kerr, MSU athletic director. Byron Selby, a product of Baltimore’s Dunbar High School, led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in passing last year. Anxious to improve on last year’s disappointing 2-9 record, the team will also look for big contributions from senior running back Craig Nelson and wide receiver, Jai Wilson. The Bears face a tough challenge in the Delaware State Hornets, who return 11 starters, including seven on offense. They surprised many last year, posting a solid 6-2 record in conference play. Cold Spring Lane will serve as memory lane

for returning alumni, eager for tailgating, to see the newly opened facilities on campus and to once again walk “The Bridge.” The weekend officially kicks off with the Morgan State University Foundation’s 22nd Annual Homecoming Gala, a black-tie affair to be held at Martin’s West on Friday, October 20th. Saturday will begin early with the judging of the best decorated dormitory, and the Homecoming parade. This year’s grand marshals will be the 1979 Football MEAC Championship Team. Alumni are urged to come and enjoy all festivities; the tailgate parties, the halftime show put on by the Magnificent Marching Machine, the familiar hug of a long-lost friend in the stands and the splendor of the old campus with its new buildings and renovations. Parking will be available in our new garage at a cost of only $10.00. Come participate in a new era and watch “The Evolution of Champions” at Morgan’s 2006 Homecoming.

Message

Dear fellow alumni: The arrival of the Fall season brings back so many fond memories of our arrival at Morgan. Do you remember your first semester at Morgan? The special events, new friends, teachers and being away from home made for an exciting time then, and an even more exciting one today. Under the leadership of Dr. Earl S. Richardson, a vision has become a

reality, and Morgan State has become the school to attend! When was your last visit to the campus? New facilities, programs and renovations are state-of-the-art. We need your support, alumni, to ensure that our beloved alma mater continues to be a place that breeds as many fond memories for future generations as it has for us. Remember,“It is all about the journey and the friends we made along the way.” See you at Homecoming!
