We’re Honored to be Voted SCV’s Best Legacy Christian Academy has been named Santa Clarita’s “Best Christian School” and “Best Private School” for over a decade.

The Place to

Build a Strong

Our core academic curriculum, taught with a Christian worldview, is a comprehensive program that places intense emphasis on language arts, mathematics, science and technology. Advanced college-preparatory skills and concepts are infused into each lesson, giving Legacy students a strong foundation that will support academic achievement today and tomorrow.

Test Scores Legacy students consistently score in the 91st percentile and above on the nationally-stardardized SAT-10 test in Math, Reading and Language.

Academic and Spiritual

Foundation At Legacy, students are engaged in preparation for the careers of the 21st century. Even our youngest students gain competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Final Cut Pro, Adobe and more. By sixth grade, Legacy boys and girls are capable of building a computer from its components. Classes in computer animation, drafting and digital filmmaking inspire creativity and develop marketable skills. Legacy students learn Spanish, as well as the language of business – Mandarin Chinese – to best prepare for careers of the future.

Classroom Technology In addition to Smart Boards and Elmo Document Cameras, each Legacy classroom is outfitted with a class set of netbooks or Mac laptop computers to promote ongoing usage of technology for all kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

Encourage your Child’s

When you visit Legacy Christian Academy, you’ll note first-hand the influence that science can have on kindergarten through eighth-grade students. You’ll see their eyes dance when a chemical-reaction experiment surprises and their pride when a hypothesis they’ve constructed proves true.

N atural Curiosity Legacy is a NASA Explorer School, which means we’re provided access to NASA’s people, research, missions and facilities through the space organization. Legacy students learn valuable science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts while absorbing first-hand accounts of how these abstract ideas impact real-world discoveries, missions and problems. What might be even more important, though, is that they’re learning to love science.

A Launching Pad for Young Minds Legacy students begin their path towards scientific discovery in kindergarten with a full-time science teacher and hands-on experience in our well-equipped, spacious laboratory.

Character Education

is woven into the Fabric of our School

Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. ~ James 3:13

To be a Legacy student is to be a child who honors God and respects parents, peers, school staff – and themselves. Each month, the Legacy community identifies a character trait on which to focus. It is role-played in the classroom, woven into community projects and reinforced via coursework. Here, kindness and integrity are not just preached – they are practiced.

“Heartwork” Partnering with Parents Once a month, in lieu of homework, students and parents work closely together to complete a “Heartwork” assignment that corresponds with the “Character Trait of the Month.” This partnership builds consistency in a child’s moral development. WORK

Planting the Seeds for a Meaningful Relationship with Christ

By starting our school day with Bible lessons and prayer, we glorify God and provide a welcome reminder that the Lord calls us to “prove ourselves doers of the Word, and not merely hearers…” (James 1:22). Each Friday, the Legacy family gathers to worship together at Chapel. Dynamic speakers, uplifting songs and messages of faith unify our community as servants of Christ.

The Legacy Philosophy We endeavor to encourage students to channel their gifts as well as to recognize where they come from; to use them to achieve greatness; and to never squander a God-given opportunity, but rather to heed the admonition of the apostle Paul:

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. ~ Colossians 3: 23 & 24

Bible Instruction and Chapel Small-group study led by Legacy’s trained seminary instructor teaches a comprehensive view of Scripture through formal Bible lessons and Gospel presentations. Chapel is an opportunity for our students, staff and families to hear God’s Word preached by gifted pastors. We begin each chapel by singing worship songs led by our outstanding chapel band. Other highlights of chapel include multimedia productions and student recognition.

Legacy’s

SMALL CLASS

A Customized Learning Experience Small-group lessons led by highly-skilled and qualified teachers are one of the cornerstones of a

Legacy Christian Academy education.

With two teachers in every elementary classroom, and a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:13, Legacy children benefit from more one-on-one time with their teachers, while our faculty is afforded the ability to create customized and differentiated learning opportunities for each student.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. ~ Proverbs 9:10

DEDICATED TEACHERS who Ignite a Passion for Learning

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. ~ James 3:17

Our teachers bring more than a Christian worldview and prestigious degrees to the classroom. Each one of our faculty members has been carefully selected because of their passion for teaching and their demonstrated ability to share their own lifelong love of learning with our students.

Legacy provides ongoing faculty training in proven pedagogical “best practices to empower our teachers to provide the most exemplary education experience to our students. Many faculty members have served the Legacy community for more than a decade. Our dedicated community of teachers is a warm, engaging group of professionals who will guide your child towards academic success, critical-thinking prowess, confidence in character and a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Art, Music and Drama Programs Provide

Inspiring

Legacy’s well-stocked art studio vibrates with creativity. Here, students study the techniques and styles of master artists under the tutelage of a professional art instructor – then try them out in their own creations. Clay pieces – crafted, fired in our kiln and painted by Legacy students – serve as décor. Just steps away you’ll find our new drama stage, complete with today’s most impressive light and sound technology. Quality sets and costumes add a dose of realism to Legacy’s plays and productions.

Opportunities

for self-expression

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. ~ Isaiah 55:12

What’s that sound? It’s our students learning to read, write and perform melodic and rhythmic notations. By the fifth grade, they’ll be writing and performing their own original songs and compositions.

The Hearts of

Champions

As a founding member of the Santa Clarita Athletic Independent League (SCAIL), Legacy boys and girls have the opportunity to build school identity, pride and cohesion on and off the field. Peers, parents and faculty share the thrill of victory with our championship-winning student athletes. Our flag-football, basketball, soccer, golf, volleyball, softball and baseball players in grades second through eighth thrive in the competitive, friendly environment. In addition to the after-school sports teams offered at Legacy, the school has a dynamic intramural league where students compete against their schoolmates in flag-football, basketball and soccer during their lunch break. The intramural sports program is a wonderful opportunity for students to step out and try something new in a positive, safe and encouraging setting.

Building more than Strong Bodies Legacy student athletes build character while developing a first-hand understanding of teamwork, sportsman-like behavior, respect and sacrifice.

Hearts for God and

Leadership

through Service We are committed to fostering compassion, awareness and responsible citizenship in the next generation of leaders. Legacy’s missionary and service works are best exemplified through our sister campus on the African continent. Legacy Uganda was built because of the generous investments of our students’ and families’ time, talent and gifts. Today you’ll find Legacy students corresponding with, and praying for, their Legacy Uganda peers. Many also complete chores at home so that they can donate their earnings to fund school supply and book purchases.

Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right. ~ Proverbs 20:11

By instilling a deep intellectual curiosity; excellent study habits; strong Christian character; remarkable criticalthinking abilities; a passion for art and music; foreign language fluency; teamwork through competitive sports and fitness; public speaking competence and essential technological skills when children are young, we build a solid foundation for their future success in high school, college and beyond. Our middle school counseling team works to ensure that Legacy students are properly placed in high-school classes that address their advanced academic skills.
