About the Victoria Branch • •

We provide care for over 1500 animals each year. Our average cost to care for a cat/dog during its stay is $784, which includes; o Vaccinations, spaying or neutering o Identification tattoo, preventative treatment for internal and external parasites o Medical care or rehabilitation required o Daily welfare monitoring, sheltering and feeding All adopted cats and dogs are also covered by six weeks pet insurance courtesy of Petsecure to ensure the health of your new pet during the critical rehoming period.
A safe haven for animals in need
The Branch Adopt a Kennel Program The BC SPCA Victoria branch has a special opportunity to support the abused, neglected and abandoned animals in your community. Opportunities are available to individuals, families and businesses. The program enables you to “adopt� one of the many animal spaces in the shelter for a whole year. You can choose whichever animal space you like, depending on whether you want to sponsor dogs, cats or the many small animals we house each year. The various animal spaces are available at different sponsorship levels, beginning as low as $100 and up to $10,000. If you want to sponsor an animal space with friends, family, your company team or fellow classmates, there are opportunities for joint sponsorship. All money raised from the Adopt a Kennel Program will go directly towards the cost of caring for the hundreds of animals that are housed at the Victoria branch each year. When you make the choice to sponsor one of the various animal spaces in the shelter, we will post a plaque in that particular area indicating your proud support. As well, we will provide you with a certificate for you to display at your business, office, school or home. The plaques will stay up in the shelter for one full year! In addition, we will invite you to sponsor another animal space in subsequent years with first right of refusal for your chosen are of sponsorship.

School & Youth Program We have a strong community of youth donors who cannot always afford the bigger kennels, and we want to give them an opportunity to support what is more affordable for them. This is a special opportunity for youth donors and schools to support the Victoria branch by sponsoring a small animal kennel in our Small Animal Rooms. Youth and school donors are always able to sponsor any kennel available in the shelter, but this provides a more unique opportunity for them.

Animal Sponsorship Options Give a second chance to an animal in our care through sponsoring a symbolic dog, cat or small animal. By sponsoring an animal for you or in honour of a friend or loved one, a certificate, card or email can be sent as an acknowledgment. The sponsorship of an animal goes toward their cost of care while with the BC SPCA. This includes paying for the more than 400 staff that care for the animals, food, and any medical costs that are needed to ensure the animals are healthy for adoption such as vaccinations, spaying and neutering all dogs, cats and rabbits prior to adoption and welfare monitoring and assessment.

Please note: All kennel plaques will be displayed for one full year – this timing begins when the plaque is mounted; not the time of gift. All donors will be contacted when the plaque is mounted. Renewals happen twice a year and a letter will be sent out with an opportunity to renew your sponsorship. Donations do receive a charitable tax receipt.
