ou’ve seen her romances. You’ve seen her adventures. Now check out her hybrid of a HORROR and THRILLER! Director Sital Chana has taken a new direction for her latest movie “Outsider”. The soppy adventurist has released a terrifically horrifying fusion. Chana was preyed on by film critics when they heard her new movie would be completely different from her life's work. When asked about how she felt with these viscous pre reviews she has this to say: “ To be honest with you, I kinda believe them myself. I mean I can’t stand watching horrors or thrillers so to be creating one seemed like an impossible thing (laughs).” Empire got down with the dirty stuff and got to be an insider on the outsider.

Sital Chana Director While unconscious, her past catches up with her and her inner demon takes over. Seeking revenge and unable to control her need to kill, Anita goes out to find them who made her like this.

hen asked why she’s gone against her norm, Chana replied “My friends took the mick out of how I couldn’t stand to watch scary films so I thought why not make one and overcome my fear” Empire then asked if she had. (Laughs) “Oh god NO! “I was terrified while filming. I’m scared of watching my own film, my actors were that good”.

S

o what is “Outsider” about anyway? The story is based on teenagers. Rita (Dilli Juttla) is the school’s nerd. The different one. The loner. The outsider. Bullied all her life, it isn't any different when the “studs” of the school take an interest in her. On a cold dark winter’s night, after working late after school Anita walks home minding her own business when she is called over by Amir (Kashif Akhtar) and his crew of misfits. Sonu(Shaurav Chettri), Jas (Vishal Rai) and Chris (Nic Alexander– Cox). After a drunken encounter with the boys they leave her wounded and torn to die. However Ray (Mohammed Rahman) finds her and takes her back to nurse her.

THINGS “Not only has this film been a lot of fun to make but we’ve learned a lot about WE’VE some of the issues raised. Every 1 in 3 kids in high school are bullied” LEARNED

Vishal Rai

Empire is lucky enough to be amongst the cast and crew of “Outsider” and we’re glad we are. Because from behind Chana’s wild ideas there is a hilarious bunch of actors who’s chemistry indicates that they’ve bounded already, within four weeks of shooting. The scene Empire really wanted to know about was the rape. “The amounts of times we shot this scene because we all burst into tears of laughter” Shaurav told us. “It was probably the funniest scene we shot, which is ironic because its a serious matter” He carried on.

Dilli Juttla Rita Vishal Rai Jas Starring alone side his younger brother Shaurav. Vishal plays the heart throb, Jas

The main star! Not only in the film but in real life. From zero to down right scary. “This is the closest I’ll ever get to torturing boys”

Chana told Empire that “the experience of filming this genre was amazing, but I couldn’t have done it without my crew.” (Location manager: Sanjay Bhatti. Camera crew: Harvey Shergill Adam Cook and Jasmine Chisholm. ) Empire was shocked to find out the treats that the cast and crew where about to receive from Chana, “I’m planning to take them all out to dinner. Just as a thank you for being them-my treat”
