Strong start leads to Lady Tiger win over Aus n Peay

WBB falls short in loss to UTM

Murray, Ky. --- TSU dro dropped opped a 77-69 decision to Murray State.

Mar n, Tenn. --- TSU saw the game slip away in the final moments in a 60-51 loss to UT Mar n.

Nashville --- Junior Meredith Stafford posted a career-high 25 points to help li TSU past Aus n Peay, 68-57.

In the opening half, TSU missed its first six shot a empts and went for four minutes without scoring. In the mean me, UTM couldn’t miss and jumped out to a 12-0 lead.

Meredith Stafford led TSU in scoring with a career-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds. Oby Okafor chipped in 14 points while LaDona Pierce dished out a season-best 11 assists.

trading buckThe game was high energy from the start with both teams tradin nailed a ets and the lead. With Wiith the score kno ed, 34-34, Murray State n 3-pointer at the end d of the half to give the Racers a 37-34 lead at the break.

TSU ed the game, 28-28, early in the second half but UTM reclaimed the lead and maintained it for the next eight minutes. Kesi Hess nailed a three-pointer to give TSU its first lead of the game.

With TSU leading 20-16, a jumper by Des ney Gaston sparked a 16-0 run that increased the advantage to 32-16.

Hess A triple from Kesi He ess christened the second half and ed the ggame at 37. Murray State managed to recapture the lead and stretched it to 58-48 play. with 10:12 le to pla ay.

Six unanswered points from the Skyhawks made the score 49-all with 2:31 le to play. Alecia Weatherly put UTM back on top 51-49 before a crucial TSU turnover and a UTM 3-pointer led to the Skyhawks capturing a 54-49 advantage with 37 seconds remaining.

From there it was an n uphill ba le for TSU. TSU narrowed the gap, 68-65, on with two minutes lee to play but MSU withstood the rally and held h to win.

UT Mar n knocked down free-throws the rest of the way to secure the win.

Oby Okafor led TSU with 18 points and recorded her eighth doubled double of the season with 10 rebounds. Jasmin Shuler (14) and Meredith M Stafford (11) also posted postted double-digits for TSU while LaDona Pierce pulled game down a career and ga ame best 13 rebounds.

In the second half, TSU grabbed a 52-30 lead when Jasmin Shuler nailed her second three-pointer of the game. Aus n Peay made a run and cut the deficit down to single digits, 56-47, with 6:47 remaining but TSU built the lead back up to 15 before going on to win 68-57
