“ ome, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men” (Mt 4:19). The words that Jesus used remain to be our greatest job description. As a mobilization and partnership coordinator of MAP, I’m learning that being a fisher of men is not an easy task. It requires tremendous discipline, perseverance, patience, team work, humility, vision and passion.

The Kingdom Movement

by Paul Bañas, RN When Peter saw that the net was about to break because of the great catch of fish, he signaled his partners in the other boat to come and help them (Lk 5:6-7). The same principle applies in obeying the Great Commission. Mission work cannot be done alone; it requires long-lasting relationships that share the same vision of making disciples of all nations. Only Christ-centered partnerships will accomplish the Great Commission. When Jesus was about to be arrested, He prayed the longest prayer that can be found in the whole New Testament. Jesus prayed that His followers and future believers would be one, in order that the world might believe and know that God the Father sent Jesus (Jn 17:20-21). I always imagine all peoples from every tribe, tongue, and every land being reached by the gospel of salvation. It will be a world filled with colors, dancing, and life. Through unity in going, sending, praying, giving and mobilizing the whole Body of Christ, the Great Commission can be done. We may become the task finishers! As MAP fulfills the great commandment and the great commission of making disciples of all nations, we therefore beseech the Lord of the Harvest to send forth more workers in the harvest field where the need is great and vast. The church today has all the resources that we need to accomplish this task but the question still remains “WILL YOU GO FOR HIM?” MAP has been serving the different tribal people groups of the Philippines for 44 years now and we would like to invite you to go, send, pray, and give to the ministry the Lord entrusted to us. Come, let us join hands, be fishers of men and advance God’s Kingdom among the nations!

That We May Be One

A NOTE TO OUR SUPPORTERS... We thank God for you, and offer our prayers with exceeding joy and grace in view of your faithful partnership in transforming peoples through Christ’s love and wholistic care from the first day until now. Our confidence lies in God’s work. He who begun a good work in you will be faithful to accomplish it until the day of Christ Jesus. What an exciting challenge God has given us! May we continue to be one in the mission to bring God’s good news of love, hope, and faith to those who are weak, fearful, hurting, hopeless, and seeking for justice. Together as one… let’s keep praying, sharing and responding to the call. FROM MAP WORKERS

“ know how the Lord blesses you. You need this money more than I do”. These were Ate Flora’s words of generosity that melted my heart.

She wants to help her loving husband in this manner.

One Sunday morning, while I was sitting at the back of the church, she welcomed me with smiles and hugged me. She expressed how the Lord worked in her life and her family, how the Lord provided despite her life’s problems and worries. She praised the Lord for the countless blessings she received. She pulled me into a corner and handed me a two hundred peso bill, telling me that I needed this more than her. I was reluctant to accept it because I knew how she earned that amount. But because of her words, I accepted that gift lovingly. She was very happy and her eyes glistened with a sweet smile. We sat together and she prayed for me. A few weeks ago after doing her laundry work, she was rushed to the hospital because of hypertension. Several days after she was admitted, I learned that she went into coma because of aneurysm in the brain. Her chance of survival was slim. After a few days she went home to her Creator. Ate Flora’s life is an example of being a cheerful giver. A story of love and sacrifice. Are you challenged to help? You can be a missionary by being a sender, goer, or mobilizer. Take part in the Lord’s work. Be blessed to be a blessing.
