FAMILY PANTOMIME

TICKETS ON SALE NOW! FRIDAY 16 DECEMBER 2016 SUNDAY 8 JANUARY 2017 DEVISED AND DIRECTED BY JOHN BALE MUSICAL DIRECTION BY STEPHEN WATERHOUSE CHOREOGRAPHY BY ALISON BACON FAMILY PANTOMIME “We visit every year for the festive pantomime. Always well performed with funny and involving characters.” (Trip Advisor) “Small, very friendly theatre. The production of Aladdin was brilliant, lots of adult humour but still child friendly.” (Trip Advisor) “Perfect Pantomime fare for all the family.” (Western Park Gazette review)

Join us as we tell the tale of the Sleeping Beauty, a dream of a Pantomime filled with all the magic and mayhem that you have come to expect from our annual extravaganza. With fearsome dragons, enchanted spinning wheels and mystical swords, we promise that you won’t sleep through this little beauty of a Panto. Once upon a time in a far off land a young Princess is cursed by a wicked fairy. Before the beautiful Princess reaches her eighteenth birthday she will prick her finger on a spindle and die! Luckily the good fairies of the kingdom have other ideas, and she is destined to sleep for 100 years, until awakened by a handsome Prince with a true love’s kiss, ensuring a happy ending to our sparkling story. This is traditional family entertainment at its best! DON’T MISS IT! Book early to avoid disappointment.

“Just been to see Aladdin and it was awesome. Will be booking for Sleeping Beauty.” (Facebook)

Upon arrival it is discovered that their host, an eccentric millionaire, is missing. At dinner a recorded message is played accusing each of them in turn of having a guilty secret and by the end of the evening the ten guests become nine. Stranded on the island by a torrential storm and haunted by an ancient nursery rhyme, one by one the guests begin to die. With the country on the brink of financial catastrophe, the Prime Minister is presented with a seemingly perfect solution from a foreign diplomat... with some morally dubious demands. Can the PM and his trusted advisors salvage the situation for the benefit of the country and, more importantly, themselves? MONDAY 24 - SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER 2016, 7:30PM SATURDAY MATINÉE 2:30PM BY ABI MORGAN DIRECTED BY NICK PALMER ROMANTIC DRAMA

“There’s still so much I have to say…” Award-winning playwright Abi Morgan’s Lovesong is the poignant story of a couple uniquely told from different points in their lives: as young lovers in their 20s just starting out and as worldly companions looking back on their relationship. Their past and present collide hauntingly and beautifully in this deeply moving story of togetherness: for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health. The hope of youth becomes the wisdom of age and love is a leap of faith.

MONDAY 14 - SATURDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2016, 7:30PM SATURDAY MATINÉE 2:30PM BY TERENCE FRISBY DIRECTED BY JOHN GHENT GRIPPING COURTROOM DRAMA

James Highwood, host of the popular TV programme British Justice, is himself on trial at the Old Bailey for murder. Refusing his solicitor’s plea to obtain legal representation, he is conducting his own defence - admitting responsibility but pleading manslaughter. His claim that the jury alone is responsible for the verdict brings him into conflict with the judge, and the desire to have his intentions understood causes problems with the prosecuting counsel. But is it manslaughter, or is it in fact murder? Terence Frisby’s sharply written, absorbing courtroom drama, will grip you tight and not let go until you are faced with the final question - Guilty or Not Guilty?

This amateur production of “Rough Justice” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, LTD.

Isolated in a countryside manor, Wyke - a reclusive, eccentric crime novelist - has invited a young hairdresser by the name of Tindle around for a drink. Fully aware that Tindle is romantically involved with Wyke’s wife, a plot is hatched between the two of them to ensure they both get exactly what they want. But as the evening creeps on and façades begin to slip, it soon becomes apparent that there are ulterior motives at work, and their playful game of cat and mouse becomes something else entirely...

JOIN IN JOIN OUR THEATRE AND HELP TO MAKE WONDERFUL PRODUCTIONS. Around 90 people participate in putting on every LDS production. We need members to help with set and furniture building and painting during the day and evenings, Front of House staff for performances, Box Office and Wardrobe helpers at a variety of times. Lighting and Sound teams work out schedules with the Stage Management teams and we all work with the director and actors to bring the show together. There are also of course the committees to staff. These keep our facilities in order, maintain our market presence and plan the production schedule. The membership team is there to help organise and encourage the members. Current members are always willing to pass on their skills and experience to newcomers who may know nothing of the work involved. Whether you work unpredictable hours, are employed full time or are retired, we can find ways you can join in with our rewarding activities at times convenient to you. We need people with a whole range of skills: organising things, talking with customers, making things, marketing and social networking to name but a few. We are all unpaid volunteers who do this for fun, but we aim to work to the highest standards and the adrenalin flows as we get close to opening night! As a new member, all you will need is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and some time to share with us. HOW TO JOIN Please contact the Theatre Manager to register your interest on (0116) 254 2266.
