WINDOW TREATMENTS HELP SET THE MOOD FOR A ROOM All too often accessories take centre stage for a room and while accessories are important to help set the mood for a room, many forget factoring in the right window treatment. It’s important to spend time at the beginning of any room redesign project developing your complete colour palette. Many homeowners choose neutral drapery, believing that the drapery should blend in to the overall room décor. Even the rod itself has an impact, so making the appropriate choice is critical to the overall look of the room, and the flow of the drapery. Unfortunately, drapery hardware is often an afterthought, and yet it can be a critical aspect of the room’s design. “Hardware to drapery is like shoes to a dress,” says Lisa. It
may seem to be an incidental component, yet it can have a very significant impact. Lisa points to a nickel rod in the dining room. The bracket and finial are one piece, so there’s nothing interfering with the flow of the drapery. The style is traditional however the nickel finish gives it a more modern feel, complementing the room’s decor without overpowering the room’s overall design. The drapery in this room is a darker colour, which draws attention by contrasting against the light walls making the room appear larger. In this room, using two liners was a must.
