Virtual Newcomers’ Orientation Welcome Aboard (NOWA) Start your tour off right. Okinawa is a wonderful duty station and great place to live for the entire family. Learn about this beautiful island and all the opportunities you can take advantage of during your tour. All accompanied USMC and USN (all ranks), civilian employees, family members over the age of 10, and all unaccompanied USMC and USN (E-6 and above) are required to complete an online NOWA brief upon their arrival on island. Completion of a NOWA brief is required to obtain a USFJ Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) driver’s license. Please register for the Virtual NOWA Brief at: www.mccsokinawa.com/relocation The email link and access code(s) will arrive to the corresponding newcomers within 2 to 3 days after confirmation of arrival has been made. Confirmation of arrival can be made via e-mail at mcbb_newcomers@usmc.mil or by contacting your nearest MCCS Marine & Family Programs. SOFA POV License Exam Licensing examinations will take place at the Base Safety Installation Office after completion of the Virtual NOWA Brief and mandated Restriction of Movement. Initial POV license test sessions on Camp Foster: Monday through Friday 0800 & 1000. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each test session for check-in. PFMP

Personal Financial Management Program Non-Commissioned Officer for Financial Fitness (NCOFF) NCOFFs are trained NCOs who provide peer-to-peer influence on personal finance. They support the PFM staff and the unit CFS by reaching out to Marines and Sailors in the ranks of E1-E4 to increase their awareness of the services and programs and to understand why financial fitness is an integral part of mission readiness. Only 25 seats are available. Candidates must meet the following prerequisites to attend this course: Must be in pay grade E-4 or E-5, Command endorsed, goal-oriented with good oral and presentation skills, financially stable, and must have 12 months remaining in Okinawa after course completion February 02

Department of Labor Employment Workshop The 2-Day Department of Labor Employment Workshop (DOL-EW) is available to meet the congressionally mandated requirement for those who seek employment after separating or retiring from the military. Pre-Retirement Seminar This workshop is an alternative option to the TRS for retiring service members. It covers recruiting, job market, resume preparation, federal employment, interview skills, and specific entitlements, to include: Financial and Estate Planning, TRICARE, Veterans benefits, and Relocation. Boots to Business (B2B) The Small Business Administration (SBA) provides a live virtual workshop to deliver the Entrepreneurship Track - “Boots to Business” (B2B). This 2-day introductory course is available to service members and their spouses/adult family members. This workshop provides valuable assistance to those who are exploring self-employment opportunities. The course provides the key steps for evaluating business concepts and the foundational knowledge required for developing a business plan. Participants are also introduced to SBA resources that are available. February 14-15

FMEAP provides individual assistance with resume development and review, interview coaching, and a career resource center with a computer lab. Transition Employment Assistance for Military Spouses (TEAMS): Marketing Me and LinkedIn Profiles Transition Employment Assistance for Military Spouses (TEAMS) is a series of Department of Labor (DOL) employment workshops that extend the Department’s Transition Assistance Program to assist military spouses and caregivers as they plan and prepare for their job search in pursuit of their employment goals. Participants will focus on using marketing techniques, exploring networking opportunities, and using multiple resources to develop an action plan for their job search in the Marketing Me workshop, while learning how to create a profile that markets their professional brand, uses keywords to attract recruiters, and utilizes LinkedIn for skill endorsements and recommendations from their networks in the LinkedIn Profiles workshop. The Semper Fit Aquatics Program maintains 25-meter and 50-meter pools across Okinawa, offering swim lessons, lifeguarding courses, a youth and adult swim team, and more.

Active Duty Swim Instruction (ADSI) The ADSI program helps active duty personnel develop, improve, and refine basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. The skills covered will vary based upon student needs. CYP MCCS Child and Youth Programs (CYP) provide a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment as well as recreational opportunities for your family. The Child Development Centers (CDC) provide full-time care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. School Age Care (SAC) provides before school, after school, and full day care on no school days for children in kindergarten through age 12 years old. CDC and SAC programs also provide drop-in hourly care. The youth and teen centers are affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America and provide activities, field trips, and other recreational opportunities to kids ages 10-12 years old at youth centers and 13-18 years old at teen centers.
