Virtual Newcomers’ Orientation Welcome Aboard (NOWA) Start your tour off right. Okinawa is a wonderful duty station and great place to live for the entire family. Learn about this beautiful island and all the opportunities you can take advantage of during your tour. All accompanied USMC and USN (all ranks), civilian employees, family members age 10 and up, and all unaccompanied USMC and USN (E-6 and above) are required to complete an online NOWA brief upon your arrival on island. Completion of a NOWA brief is required to obtain a USFJ Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) driver’s license. Department of Labor Employment Workshop The 2-Day Department of Labor Employment Workshop (DOL-EW) is available to meet the congressionally mandated requirement for those who seek employment after separating or retiring from the military. The Semper Fit Youth Sports Program provides a positive sporting experience for all youth ages 5 to 18 years within the Marine Corps family camps communities. 2022 Soccer Season Information All Semper Fit Youth Sports seasons are for children ages 5 to 18. Children who are 4 years of age may be registered as long as they turn 5 prior to the final day of the advertised season dates (May 7, 2022). The Semper Fit Aquatics Program maintains 25-meter and 50-meter pools across Okinawa, offering swim lessons, lifeguarding courses, a youth and adult swim team, and more.

Active Duty Swim Instruction (ADSI) The ADSI program helps active duty personnel develop, improve, and refine basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. The skills covered will vary based upon student needs. MCCS Aquatics offers swim instruction to active duty personnel free of charge.  Lessons may be group or one-on-one depending upon instructor availability.  Please click on the register button on the Aquatics Program web page, submit the requested information, and an instructor will contact you.

Topics include: infant development, self-care as a parent, infant safety, newborn care, and baby health. Behavioral Health Substance Abuse Counseling Center The Substance Abuse Counseling Center provides screening, assessment, prevention, early intervention, and counseling services. We have counselors located at Camp Foster Bldg. 440, Camp Hansen Bldg. 2631 and provide services at Camp Schwab Bldg. 3429, by appointment. Child and Youth Programs MCCS Child and Youth Programs (CYP) provide a safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate learning environment and recreation opportunities for your family. The Child Development Centers (CDC) provide fulltime care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old. School Age Care (SAC) provides before school, after school and full day care on no school days for children, kindergarten through age 12 years old. CDC and SAC programs also provide drop-in hourly care. The youth and teen centers are affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America and provide activities, field trips and other recreational opportunities to kids ages 10-12 years old at youth centers and 13-18 years old at teen centers.
