Has had the opportunity to develop professionally in a full range of positions and responsibilities in both the US and Mexico. Highly interested in art fabrication and hands on experience. Currently seeking new opportunities to expand her knowledge and understanding of the architectural and construction field. Offers excellent leadership skills, but also knows how to be a great teammate. Interests include working out (Mixed Martial Arts!), making art, urban cycling and rading crime novels. I once backpacked through Europe for a month and a half. I travelled on my own by train over 5,000 miles of the US West Coast and Midwest. I’m a doer and i’m not afraid to go for the things i want and/or get things done. IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS AS A PDF, CLICK ON THE BLUE LINKS TO VISIT WEBSITE.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT/ CNC FABRICATION

PATIO DE LAS JACARANDAS AGUASCALIENTES, AGS, MX

ARTIST: Jan Hendrix ARCHITECTS: Arturo Revilla and Jose Luis Jimenez Garcia CANOPY ARTWORK: ZAHNER CONSTRUCTION DATES: March 2015 - April 2015

This open-air canopy was designed and built in Mexico to celebrate the annual festivites in the city of Aguascalientes. Based off the jacaranda trees that bloom every spring, the shadows cast by the canopy are inviting to the public.

Engineering was done personally by me and another engineer in Kansas City, with fabrication done in Dallas. Material is 1/4 aluminum, laser cut with a true white Kynar finish. The lasered sheets were then sent to their final destination in Mexico. Construction was done within a month, with constant on-site supervision from myself and an experienced sheet metal worker. Installation was done by a subcontractor. The canopy also holds special events like concerts and plays.

FUGA

ARTIST: Jan Hendrix MATERIAL: Laser cut bronze, chromed after fabrication. CONSTRUCTION: Summer 2015

For this project, artist Jan Hendrix wanted 8 different complex designs to be made into 35 duplicates each. Every individual piece is a different size. Together, the pieces form a vanishing point that travels across the room. Each piece was cut from 4mm bronze and chromed post fabrication. The smallest piece is 4 inches in diameter and the largest is 4 feet wide. The laser was new to the company, so this project served to experiment with the limits of the machine. There was a lot of communication and cooperation needed between the machine operator and myself to get these files to the best resolution. Material had to be obtained from all over the US and fabricated in Dallas, TX. They were then shipped to the border for their final destination in Mexico. The finished pieces were exhibited in Mexico City’s GAM, among a retrospective of Jan Hendrix’s work up to this point. The pieces were sold during the exhibit.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

EXPO MILANO 2015

Concept model of how playing with the topographical surface works to create a forest feeling along with a porous structure functioning as shade.

International Workshop Cocoa Pavillion Concept SEPT-OCT 2012 BUILT FOR WORLD EXPO IN 2015 During three weeks, designers from 18 different countries were invited to participate in a concept workshop for the EXPO Milano 2015 cluster pavillions. Three designers from a designated country worked together with six Italian designers to develop a pavillion’s concept. Mexico’s team was tasked the Cocoa pavillion. The cocoa pavillion developed from a forest, focusing on the in and outs on the ground and the organically produced shading. The goal was to give the user the experience of walking through this ever changing atmosphere, light and shade at different angles and heights.

FIRST SKETCHES REGARDING TOPOGRAPHY

EXPO Milano 2015 was visited by over 20 million people in a course of 184 days. There were over 500 events related to the EXPO. In the next page, you can see pictures of the final cluster pavillion.

CENTRO CARITAS

III ARCHITECTURE STUDENT BIENNALE: WORKING SPACES NOMINEE Nuevo León, México DESIGNED as part of Catedra Blanca XIX. AUG - DEC 2011 NOMINATED: 2012 CARITAS is a philantropic association that works within Monterrey’s metropolitan area. The main headquarters of the association are currently in a state of chaos, being made out of add-ons constructed throughout the years. The project for their new HQ is to be built in a new location where they can provide enough and adequate space for the people they help. This site is located next to their industrial size food storehouse, which turned into a challenge when figuring out the placement of the buildings. The buildings contain open spaces that are dynamic in all their uses. The organization needed spaces that could function as offices, meeting rooms, and clinics. The open spaces, along with their common patio, give a freedom to the site in the way it can be managed. The site contained an old pool which was repurposed as an auditorium needed by CARITAS for their monthly events and conferences. The construction gives a warm and welcoming feeling to all its users through patios and light materials.

CHILDREN'S

PLAYGROUND DESIGNED as part of Catedra Blanca XIX. AUG - DEC 2011

The task at hand was to design a replicable playground in underdeveloped neighborhoods around the city. The Huicholes, who reside in northern-central Mexico, were taken as an inspiration for the design. A set of wooden frames and rope serve as the base for an ‘Ojo de Dios’, which is woven in communal engagement and connection. When each ‘ojo de Dios’ is done, the frames then can be stacked into levels that generate an ever changing playground. It’s a simple, community driven way to generate more quality public spaces.

MULTIMODAL STATION Spring 2011 The city of Monterrey currently faces a strong public transport problem. BRT routes are being proposed to the governement and some are being implemented. One of the proposed routes passes through the center of the city and heads north. The site chosen for the station connects the metro, located just two blocks south.

ART GALLERY

Spring 2009 Located next to the north entrance for ITESM Campus Monterrey, the gallery’s main purpose is to showcase the work of students from the annexed Art School. Recently remodeled, this section of the school is receiving prominent attention due to its great location inside the campus and between the arts and architecture buildings. Natural light was given emphasis, casting changing shadows on the inside throughout the day. Even if the space isn’t being used as a gallery, it invites towards reflection with its play of lights and shadows.
