The Imagination to Innovate and the Stamina to Succeed What we Do We believe in celebrating bright and passionate Canadians, whose innovations are commercially viable, support our provincial and national economies, and position our country globally as an innovation leader. Our innovators are leaders and visionaries who add value to the Canadian economy while improving the whole human experience. The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation has been advancing the culture of Canadian innovation for 34 years. We discover, honour and reward Canadians who have the imagination to innovate and the stamina to succeed, and we tell their stories. Each year, Canada comes together in cities known for their innovative spirit, to celebrate the top four Manning Laureates and the top four Young Canadian Innovators at the Manning Innovation Awards. For the first time ever, the Awards will be held in Saskatchewan, and we invite Canadians from around the corner and across our country to celebrate some of our most innovative citizens. We hope you will join us.

Awards Our Awards, based on stringent criteria and a rigorous, independent evaluation process, include: $100,000 Principal Award $25,000 Dave E. Mitchell Award of Distinction $10,000 Innovation Awards (2) $7,000 Young Canadian Innovation Awards (4)

Our distinguished alumni are leaders in technology, science, engineering and social innovation advancement.

The Ernest C. Manning Innovation Awards has: • A network of nearly 3,000 young and adult innovators across Canada. • A large network of regional leaders committed to Canadian innovators of all ages through its 11 chapters situated across Canada, who donate many hours reaching out to individuals and organizations to find and recognize local innovators. • An independent, gold-standard peer review process of submissions. • A distinguished network of Canadian business and academic leaders who volunteer their time to serve as Foundation Trustees, Selection Committee members, Regional Chapter Chairs and members, and the many independent evaluators who score nominees. • A close working relationship with the CanadaWide Science Fair as well as teachers and students participating in the Fairs. Since the Young Canadian program was introduced in 1992, an average of 75 students self-nominate their projects each year to be considered for one of eight Young Canadian Awards at the Fair. To date, 227 students have received the Manning Innovation Achievement Award and 115 students have received the Manning Young Canadian Innovation Award.

Why it Matters Innovation – in all its forms – needs support and recognition to take hold and become a shared reality in our nation. Innovation excellence impacts our daily lives and gives our country a competitive advantage. There is so much potential to improve our global innovation position . . . together we can do better. In recognizing, honouring and rewarding Canadian innovators, we showcase real-world heroes and mentors who represent the spirit of innovation.
