Innovation Hubs and Action Labs provide and support innovative thinking and collaboration. We design these for NGOs, Technology Innovators and Startups, Schools, PostSecondary Institutions and Corporations.
The vision for the Roundhouse Social Innovation Hub was based on workshops with MacEwan’s School of Business, to determine the Hub’s purpose:“The Social Innovation Hub will inspire creative, evidence-based entrepreneurial innovation and collaboration that encourages energetic and active ‘change making’ within MacEwan University, its Northern environment and beyond.” The design of the Social Innovation Hub consists of customizable, leasable spaces including hot desks, dedicated desks, private offices, meeting rooms and large gathering spaces alongside open, collaborative spaces for like-minded people and organizations to call home on a short or long term basis.
SKILLS SOCIETY ACTION LAB Skills Society was the 2013 recipient of Reimagine’s Blue Sky Award, which provides pro bono design services to Albertan non-profits. We were inspired by the great work that Skills Society does in supporting people with disabilities to be fully included as citizens in their community. They asked us to design Alberta’s first Social Innovation Lab, a creative social laboratory and learning space available to both Skills Society and the larger community. The Action Lab facilitates new ways of responding to challenges, offering a variety of spaces, each equipped with a set of creative tools ranging from collage walls and writable surfaces to a Six Thinking Hats area. The Action Lab is a physical manifestation of leadingedge social innovation strategies and techniques, and its innovative design is the first of its kind in Western Canada.

The Reimagine team doesn’t just talk the talk: we walk the walk! Eager to use the skills we picked up designing the Skills Society Action Lab, our team decided to create a lab in our Edmonton studio location. The kitchen, where Reimagine’s in-house chef prepares lunch for our team, doubles as an innovation space, with plenty of writable surfaces, and tools designed to facilitate innovation and idea development. Just as a home kitchen is a place that people gravitate toward, Coco’s Kitchen is the collaborative heart of the Edmonton studio.

ROBOTICS AND TECHNOLOGY LAB Located in north Edmonton, Queen Elizabeth High School is one of just two UNESCO Schools in Alberta. These institutions offer particularly innovative and inclusive quality education.
The school boasts a particularly innovative robotics program, and Reimagine led the design of their new Robotics and Technology Lab. This flexible and adaptable interior environment is easily reconfigured to enable students, teachers and members of the community to create the spaces they need, as they need them.

TEC Edmonton is a joint venture between the University of Alberta and the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. This business accelerator fuels tech startups and other young companies by offering them a vibrant coworking space, as well as mentorship and coaching.

NAIT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY CENTRE The Alternative Energy Technology Centre is the new focal point of the NAIT campus, replacing the antiquated Fuel Cell Centre. Reimagine created a framework of systems to facilitate sustainable performance in the Alternative Energy Centre, which seeks to develop green energy technology. Designed to transition toward net-zero energy consumption, the space is a first-class, innovative interior environment for learning and teaching.
