Live music for listening and dancing. Country Music Television’s YOUNG COUNTRY: J.D. Admission: Madison Regatta Wristband ($20 advance/$25 thereafter and good for all events June 30 through July 4), or a nightly Madison Regatta Festival Support Buttons ($5). Children 10 and under admitted free of charge.

SATURDAY, JULY 3

Radio-controlled boat racers from the Prop Walkers Model Boat Club as well as throughout the region stage their annual scale-model regatta as part of the Madison Regatta Festival. Boats are judged based on their detailed replication of current and past Unlimited hydroplanes and races are staged with radio-controlled boats of various sizes competing.

10:45 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 3 and 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 4 Madison Riverfront Local stunt pilot Cliff Robinson does rolls, loops, Cuban eights, hammer heads, snap rolls, and takes a flight under the Madison-Milton bridge in a spectacular display of aerial finesse.

Live music on the riverfront from various bands including Assorted Flavors, 2010 battle of bands winner, 2009 battle of bands winner Ryder McQueen and Broken Spurs. Admission: Madison Regatta Wristband ($20 advance/$25 thereafter and good for all events June 30 through July 4) up until approximately 6 p.m. or whenever the race course closes. Children 10 and under admitted free of charge.

2009 women’s Courier 10K winner Heidi Saunders of Madison

Now in its 32nd year, The Madison Courier 10K run and walk annually draws several hundred runners and walkers — and many more spectators — to a scenic 6.2-mile road course that takes participants from Madison’s hilltop to downtown. Longtime participant Charles Ricketts, of Madison, will serve as the official starter. The 2009 overall winner was Oliver Book of Starlight while the women’s winner was Heidi Saunders of Madison Entry forms are still available at The Madison Courier, located at 310 West St. in downtown Madison, online at www.madisoncourier.com, or at the starting area at Madison Conslidated High’s Salm Gymnasium from 6:30 a.m. until time of race on race day. The entry fee is now $25 for the run and $15 for the walk. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a packet. Top three finishers in each of the 15 male and 15 female age divisions in the run will receive awards created especially for the event. The walk is a non-competitive event and no awards are presented.

Madison lights up the sky over the Ohio River with loud, colorful fireworks based on a patriotic program that celebrates the Regatta and Independence Day. Live music before and after the fireworks. Admission is free and open to the public and the event is rain or shine.
