NHLA is proud to welcome Mr. Spessert, a dynamic professional who will help guide the Association’s continued growth. "His extensive lumber inspection and training experience prepares him well to take on the important role of Chief Inspector. REMUS, Mich.— High production chipping just got easier with the new Bandit Industries Model 3090 Track, a self-propelled version of the popular Model 3090 drum-style whole tree chipper. “The 3090 is already an extremely capable machine,” said Bandit Industries Marketing Manager Jason Morey. “Adding a self-propelled option extends this capability to remote, difficult-to-reach terrain where towable chippers can’t go.” To make the 3090 a mobile chipper, Bandit Industries utilizes a Caterpillar 325EL undercarriage outfitted with either 700 or 800-millimeter wide pads. Fully optioned with a cab and loader, the footprint for the Model 3090 Track is just over 11 pounds per square inch. “Everyone knows how well track chippers perform in soft ground or steep terrain,” said Morey. “In cases like these, a track chipper is usually the only viable option, and having something with the proven reliability and production power of the 3090 can pay dividends when the going gets tough.” The Model 3090 Track shares the same heavy-duty construction of Bandit’s larger 3590 chipper. It utilizes a 37-inch diameter drum with a 30 x 36-inch opening, and features a unique four-wheel, diagonal feed system consisting of two 36-inch topfeed wheels set on an angle. These wheels are mounted in a slide box and move up or down with the flow and diameter of material passing through the feed system. Two vertical sidefeed wheels surround the standard 30-inch infeed, contributing to the 3090 Track’s impressive pulling and compressing capability. Power options include Caterpillar, Cummins or John Deere diesel engines, ranging from 535 to 630 horsepower. The 3090 Track can accept material up to...

As operations and supply manager, Faith Wood is responsible for manufacturing and purchasing operations at the forestry equipment manufacturing plants in LaGrange, Ga., Owatonna, Minn., and Prentice, Wisc. Wood has a degree in electrical engineering and worked for the automotive industry for 26 years. Michael Greco was hired as millyard product specialist, a new position in Caterpillar Forest Products marketing. He will be responsible for working with territory managers and Cat dealers to analyze a customer’s millyard operation and develop the workflow and equipment configuration best suited to meet those needs. Greco has worked for Caterpillar for 10 years in various positions, including sales development manager, industry sales representative and senior process engineer on small wheel loaders. Both Wood and Greco will be based in the forestry division’s headquarters in LaGrange. The forestry division also hired two new sales territory managers. Jason Koskinen will cover the Lake States region and Dirk Nielsen is responsible for eastern Canada and northeast United States. Koskinen, who was born and raised in upper Michigan, has 10 years experience in forestry equipment sales and was a territory manager for the forestry division of Blount, Inc., before Caterpillar acquired it. He will be based in Appleton, Wisc. Nielsen, a forest engineer, previously worked for Caterpillar for five years and is returning to the same position. He has also had experience with Dendron, a forestry consulting company in Ottawa. Nielsen will be based in Wakefield, Quebec. NCS’s real and personal property to be sold. Auction to be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 starting at 11:30 a.m. at Maxsells, 209 Central Avenue, Florence by John Wirth, the Receiver appointed by the Florence County Circuit Court for the purpose of liquidating NCS’s assets.
MILL INCLUDES: sawmill and manufacturing plant (approximately 54,699 square foot plus 27,850 square feet of basement area) with approximately 74.5 acres of land, located at 5863 Tower Drive, Florence. The main building was constructed in 1989 with a small addition in 2001, is completely sprinkled, and steam heated by two large boilers, one gas-fired and one fired by waste wood chips and bark. EQUIPMENT INCLUDES: Kilns (175,000 b/f of track kiln); Ultimizer; Timber Pro TF830; Auto Log System; Industrial Boller Co.
