Mission
We are servant leaders, listening and responding to the needs of the school community; focusing on continuous improvement, measurable results, stakeholder voice, and stakeholder satisfaction; and contributing to making our community a place where people feel welcome and well-served regardless of race/ethnicity, gender, family income, religion, or sexual orientation/gender identity.
Equity Statement We believe that students of all races and ethnicities can meet or exceed State standards and Corporation graduation requirements when they are effectively taught and held to high expectations. The MSD of Lawrence Township defines educational equity as, “A state in which dimensions of privilege, skin color, and economic status are not predictive of, or correlated with, educational outcomes in any significant way, and where all learners are able to participate fully in quality learning experiences.”

LT Profiles of excellence Immersion Assessing and listening to the needs of the community, including the on-going admission waitlists, LT Schools continues to build upon the 28 years of success for this nationally recognized enriched model of instruction that values not only the use of two or more languages, but also addresses socio-cultural competence. Taught by an international, bilingual, and diverse staff, both the dual and one-way Immersion program expanded to additional schools to accommodate families’ choices. All Lawrence Township Immersion schools are members of the International Spanish Academies (ISAs) which are educational centers known for their academic prestige. The cohesive and integrated curricular focus seamlessly transitions from kindergarten through graduation which culminates with a Certificate of Multilingual Proficiency from the State of Indiana along with their Lawrence Township diploma. Immersion students also receive a diploma from the International Spanish Academies. By embracing and incorporating the cultural, linguistic, and ethnic diversity of staff and students, these high-achieving bilingual and biliterate students have a multi-cultural understanding, appreciation for differences, and find strength in diversity, preparing them for our global society.

Amy Mitchell AMY MITCHELL, Teacher Indicative of Lawrence Township excellence in educators, Amy Mitchell was presented with the Golden Apple Award, sponsored by WISH-TV, which recognizes exceptional teachers. Students, colleagues, and administrators agreed that there is no one more worthy of this recognition. For more than 30 years of teaching Biomedical Science at McKenzie Center for Innovation & Technology (MCIT), she has always put her students first. It’s her genuine care, concern, and love for the students that sets her apart. Students use terms like mentor, friend, and inspiration to describe her.
10
In 2021, a personal health concern threatened to interrupt the school year. In true Amy spirit, she scheduled her treatments around the school calendar, so she could be there for her “kids.” Her devotion to her students and determination to get back into the classroom fueled her healing process. Her advice for new teachers is to keep pushing through the everyday challenges because the payoff of teaching is worth it. Nothing can stop this educator from educating.
STEM for ALL “We’re going to the VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas, TX!” That’s right, after local, state, and regional VEX Robotics competitions, LT Schools had three elementary and one middle school team qualify for the VEX World Championship in the Spring of 2023. LT Schools’ STEM for ALL commitment, a systematic approach of expose, explore, and experience, including curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular, begins in first grade and continues through graduation. Students at all grade levels are hands-on learners, mastering critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Indiana Department of Education STEM Certified Schools exemplify a highly nontraditional approach to education by employing a great deal of inquiry, project-based learning, community engagement, entrepreneurship, student-centered classrooms, and out-of-school STEM activities. Currently, 8 LT schools have been certified.

LT Profiles of excellence ALLISON SEITZ, Lawrence Central Class of 2024
With her future goals in mind, LC Junior, Allison Seitz, set her sights on golf as she helped propel the LC Girls Golf team to a winning and memorable season. She won her Marion County, Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC), and Sectional matches, a trifecta not easily won in a single golf season. She was named All Conference, All County, and a National Academic All-American. That same focus and determination applies to Allison’s other activities such as National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society as this AP Scholar with Distinction pursues her Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone diploma. And somehow, she finds time to run the lights on LC’s show choir’s, Central Sound, tech crew where she was honored with the Best Tech Award. Allison is motivated by continuous improvement - to get better every day. Her teachers and coaches have challenged her to reach her full potential in the classroom and sparked her interest in subjects she never thought she’d be interested in. And all the hard work will soon pay off. Allison committed to the Raiders Women’s Golf Team on a full golf scholarship at Seminole State College in Fall 2024.
Joshua Mickens ,
JOSHUA MICKENS, Lawrence Central Class of 2023
Winning is a Mickens family tradition, especially athletically, so putting himself in position to have options when he graduated was important to Joshua Mickens. By taking advantage of all that Lawrence Central offers, his belief in hard work and focused determination on his end goals delivered results. Joshua enrolled in LC AVID, a college readiness system, with rigorous Honors and Advanced Placement courses. He completed the Biomedical Science program, and ultimately earned an Academic Honors Diploma as a Distinguished Graduate. He participated in Young Life, Peer Mentoring, and the Black Heritage Society. He volunteered at his church, focusing on serving families in need. He is known for his kind heart and loving spirit.
12
Allison Seitz
All this while also excelling in athletics, with a focus on Football. Joshua’s long list of multi-year state and national honors, including Marion County Male Athlete of the Year, Indiana Mr. Football - Defensive Line, and Army All American, was noted. Recruited by several marquee universities, Joshua accepted the offer to study and play at The Ohio State University, majoring in Civil Engineering. This student- athlete certainly put himself in position to have options.
MONICA WILLIAMS, Lawrence North Class of 2023
Monica Williams transitioned from the Wildcats to the Bobcats when she committed to play for Ohio University. Throughout her four-year high school varsity basketball career, this Distinguished Honor Roll student was recognized for her individual and team contributions. She was on the IHSAA State Championship team in 2020 as the team swept the conference, county, and post-season championship, just stopping short of repeating in 2023. Individually, Monica was a multi-year All Marion County, All MIC Conference, and IBCA All-State selection. She was team captain and named Lawrence North Athlete of the Year. Monica is a quiet, diligent student. She followed a rigorous college prep schedule to ease the academic transition to college, making herself available to help others along the way. Monica credits her family, coaches, teammates, and teachers for motivating and supporting her in such a positive environment and showing interest in experiences outside of basketball. She will proudly wear the Bobcats green and white. Go ‘Cats!

MSD OF LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP 2022/2023 ANNUAL REPORT
LT Profiles of excellence
LOGAN CROCK, Lawrence North Class of 2024 Striving for excellence perfectly aligns with Logan’s approach to everything he tackles. He chose LN Baseball because of the team’s history of toughness, grit, work ethic and quality baseball. This Butler University commit was named all Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) and All Marion County. Logan is the all-time season and career leader in stolen bases at LN and will become the leader in walks before he graduates. Yes, he’s talented on the field, but it’s his team-first attitude and unwavering commitment to bring his winning attitude to practice each day that teammates and coaches appreciate most.
Monica Williams
In the classroom, Logan is equally committed. With a schedule of challenging dual credit classes, it’s no secret why he earns such good grades. It’s the same combination of skill, commitment, and positive attitude. He is motivated by the desire to be the best he can possibly be. And when he has fallen short, he’s learned from that failure and worked to correct those mistakes to become successful. This Butler commit has a bright future. He is truly a player coaches look forward to coaching every day. 13

Marching Pride of Lawrence Township
The township-wide Marching Pride of Lawrence Township (MPLT) was recognized by Teach Magazine in the October 2022 issue as one of the premier Marching Bands in the U.S.A. They probed the question, “What does it take to run a successful high school marching band program?” BELONGING AND ACCOMPLISHING MPLT is a small community with common goals. LC and LN students learn with and from other students with whom they may not otherwise interact. And, yet, those different perspectives come together to perform precise choreography and harmonious music. The benefits of the MPLT ecosystem carry over into academics with MPLT students applying the same focus and skills in classroom achievements. TEAMWORK. RESPONSIBILITY. TIME MANAGEMENT. LEADERSHIP. PUNCTUALITY. PRECISION. COMMITMENT. Competing at both state and national levels is rigorous and demanding. The students and staff embrace the challenge. Being a member of MPLT requires a commitment that begins well before the start of school in late summer with early mornings, late evenings, and weekends spent learning and rehearsing. Everyone performs and everyone contributes. MPLT is a shining example of excellence in teamwork.

Building Excellence LT Schools operates almost 3 million square feet in 23 learning and support buildings on almost 450 acres of land. In the last 9 years, over $400M has been invested in renovations and expansions that addressed capacity, safety and security, enhanced learning environments, IT infrastructure, and mechanicals for every facility. Through May 2023, the renovations at all elementary schools and early learning centers were completed. In addition, the new transportation center was dedicated and opened. The multi-year $220M simultaneous transformation at both Lawrence Central and Lawrence North, funded by the capital referendum, is in the third year of construction. Many of the major improvements, including the three-story academic wings, are complete. Students and staff are benefiting from the state-of-the-art facilities and amenities. It is anticipated that both LC and LN will be completed and officially dedicated in the Fall of 2024. It is an exciting time for LT Schools, and we thank the community for supporting this endeavor. It is a sound investment in LT students and the overall community. This is building excellence!

MSD OF LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP 2022/2023 ANNUAL REPORT
Lawrence Township School Foundation When we work together, there are no limits
Founded in 1983, the Lawrence Township School Foundation (LTSF) is the philanthropic arm serving the students and staff in the MSD of Lawrence Township. The LTSF partners with the school district to identify significant and impactful programs to fund. Over the past forty years, the Foundation has raised and invested millions of dollars to fund student achievement and student support programs. It takes the community, a diverse group of committed individuals, business partners, and service organizations who work together toward one common goal: to create impact by connecting resources for ALL Lawrence Township students to excel.

From hands-on learning programs to post-graduation support and everything in between, donors fuel the power of the LTSF programs’ impact, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the work the Foundation is entrusted to do. On behalf of the over 16,000 students and 2,400 employees these gifts impact, THANK YOU! 23
