What stands at the heart of our academic experience? Our esteemed faculty. Nearly 70% of them hold the highest degree in their field. They’re mentors to students at every stage of their academic development. They’re models of advanced scholarship and research. Most of all, they’re a source of lasting inspiration. They’re living proof that a university education can enhance your life beyond measure.

We’re eager to give you the chance to conduct research. Our faculty look for ways to provide hands-on experience that allows students to explore the questions at the heart of their field. Our Undergraduate Summer Research Institute supports students and faculty engaged in high-level, collaborative research projects. URSI students regularly publish their work in respected academic journals and present it at regional and national conferences.

Degree Programs We’re here to serve you. If you’re planning to pursue a four-year degree, our programs are fully accredited and widely respected in Louisiana. Our courses are easily transferable. We have transfer agreements for general education classes with all public universities in the state. There are transfer programs in 100 different areas. If you’d prefer more career-specific study that will prepare you for the job market, we offer a variety of two-year associate degree programs that correspond to the region’s and the country’s most in-demand vocational opportunities, including management, nursing, respiratory care, and the care and development of young children. If you’re looking for short-term job-specific training programs, we offer technical diplomas, certificates, and areas of competency. If you decide to return to school to work toward an Associate Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree, your credits can be applied towards either degree.

Students who lead active, engaged lives both in and out of the classroom. A campus that loves to think, to serve, and to contribute. A unique local culture. That’s what we call home.

2+2 Programs Our 2+2 programs in Elementary Education and Criminal Justice allow you to earn your bachelor’s degree without leaving Eunice. If you enroll in a 2+2 program, you take your first two years of coursework in classes taught by our faculty; your last two years of coursework are taken in classes taught either on our campus or online.

Honors Program Our Honors Program is designed for high-achieving students who are ready to be challenged. Honors students enroll in intensive interdisciplinary seminars, as well as honors courses. Benefits include close advising from the program’s director, small classes with other high-ability students, and a robust scholarship program.

Pathways to Success A pioneering one-year program for students who score a composite score of 15 or below on the ACT, or who do not have an ACT score. Students enroll in a suite of required courses and elective courses that provide a strong foundation for college-level work. They also take advantage of focused tutoring and advising from the program’s professional staff. In 2008, Pathways won an Institutional Advising Award from the National Academic Advising Association.

Resources and Facilities We offer wireless access everywhere on campus; our student-to-computer ratio is 10:1, far less than the national average; and our computer labs are continually updated with the latest hardware and software. This may explain why Yahoo! named us one of the nation’s most wired two-year colleges. Our LeDoux Library offers access to more than 100,000 items—printed volumes, periodicals, and audio-visual material—and serves as a vital community resource, offering public programming and housing special collections dedicated to regional and state history. Our 43,700-square-foot Health Technology Building features hands-on clinical labs, computer and audio-visual labs, and a 250-seat auditorium with satellite connections. The newest addition: a new community education building with state-of-the-art classrooms.

community Life on Campus It starts with our students. They lead a growing list of clubs and organizations, many of which are dedicated to academic fields and most of which sponsor service projects on campus and in the community. Universitysponsored programs, including Speakers at the LeDoux Library and LSUE Performing Arts, bring local and national artists and scholars to campus for lectures and presentations.

Residential Life We’re the only two-year school in the state with on-campus housing. Our residential community, Bengal Village, features furnished townhouse-style apartments with a full kitchen, a living area, and private bedrooms. It also includes individual and group study areas, a swimming pool, an outdoor barbecue pavilion, a sports court, and laundry facilities. Trained resident assistants coordinate a range of social, intellectual, and recreational programs.

Athletics Our three varsity teams—men’s baseball, women’s basketball, and women’s softball—are powerhouses in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Bengal Baseball has played in the NJCAA World Series five times, and won the 2006 and 2008 National Championship. Lady Bengal Basketball has won two state championships and appeared in the national tournament in 2007. Bengal Softball has made four regional tournament appearances in its first four seasons and, in 2009, advanced to their first NJCAA national championship. Our popular intramural sports program includes flag football, basketball, softball, and volleyball. In our Health and Physical Education Building, students take advantage of a multipurpose gymnasium court, a heated swimming pool, an indoor archery range that can also be used for golf driving, an inlaid putting surface, and a weight training and conditioning room.

Eunice and Acadiana We’re proud to live in a region that’s known around the world for its rich, deeply-rooted culture. We’re proud to live in a town that’s home to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, the Liberty Theater, and the Cajun Music Hall of Fame. The sense of responsibility we feel for our community, the pleasure we take in shared celebration, the ways in which we honor our history and build our future are an integral part of Acadiana and LSU Eunice.

BEYOND EUNICE The LSU Eunice education extends into the Central Lousiana region. We offer courses taught by our outstanding faculty on the LSU Alexandria campus and at the Rapides Parish Learning Center.

Open admissions. Generous financial aid. Stellar alumni achievement.

This is where we start, and where we’re going.

MORE Is LSU Eunice a selective institution? We’re proud to be an open admission university. We accept graduates of stateapproved high schools as well as those who’ve earned a G.E.D. We continue to attract high-achieving students. In fact, more than 80% of all TOPS Honors recipients attending two-year schools have chosen LSU Eunice.

What’s the application process like? It’s easy. Students apply online. You’ll most likely want to take the ACT; your scores will be used for placement purposes. Once you’ve submitted an application, you’re provisionally admitted. Visit future.lsue.edu for more information.

Is LSU Eunice affordable?

Catholic Student Center

Our tuition is well below the regional average, and we work hard to make sure it’s affordable to all. We offer generous financial aid, including a wide array

Chi Sigma Tau

of scholarships. In 2008-2009, we gave $11 million in financial aid.

What do students do after they graduate? Quite a bit. Many students go on to complete bachelor’s programs at exceptional universities both in and out of state, and some continue to graduate or professional school. Students who immediately seek employment have an excellent record of success. Graduates of our programs in nursing, radiologic technology, and respiratory care typically receive the highest pass rate in the state on national and state board exams.

Do you have a career services office? We do. Our office offers one-on-one guidance on everything from resume writing to interviewing. It also helps students find internships and work-study opportunities as well as hosts career days, job fairs, and vocational workshops.
