It Makes Cents to Do Business with Members

Chamber leadership encouraging member-to-member business This year the Lee’s Summit Chamber leadership has made it a priority to promote doing business with members. New initiatives include: • Member Marketplace emails • Member News & Events emails • Smartphone Deals • Testimonial promotion • ...and more In mid-February the Chamber sent out the first member Marketplace email, and received a great response from businesses wanting to participate in the future. The Marketplace is a monthly email that allows six businesses the opportunity to promote a special deal or discount to members. The cost to participate is $25. Be on the lookout for these emails that will be sent the second Tuesday of every month. Questions about the Marketplace can be directed to Cathy Young at cyoung@lschamber.com.

During the month of February the Chamber also rolled out the Member News & Events email. This monthly email gives members a venue to promote seminars or special events they are planning to our database of over 1400 member representatives. The cost for an ad is $25. Coming this Spring Chamber members will have the opportunity to promote deals for free on the LS Chamber Smartphone app. Look for more information on how to upload your deal later this month. The Chamber is also promoting testimonials of strong connections that our members have made that have generated business. See inside for a great member-to-member testimonial. If you have a story to share, contact Gina Seibel at gseibel@lschamber.com.

Members Making Waves John Knox Village Hires New CFO After conducting a nationwide executive search John Knox Village has hired Richard Kim Klockenga as chief financial officer. A seasoned continuing care facility executive with nearly 15 years of senior healthcare leadership experience, Klockenga will assume his new duties at John Knox Village on April 30. “Kim not only brings a proven track record for enhancing profit and revenue

growth, but he also has an intimate understanding of the continuing care environment,” said Daniel Rexroth, chief executive officer, John Knox Village. “We’re confident in his ability to ensure the long-term financial strength of John Knox Village.”

“John Knox Village was seeking an accomplished financial leader with a ‘big picture’ perspective, an operational focus and finely honed strategic planning skills. Kim was a perfect fit,” according to Dr. Kathy Noland, vice president of senior executive search for B. E. Smith, the leadership solutions firm that conducted the nationwide CFO search for John Knox Village.

Prior to joining John Knox Village, Klockenga was vice president and CFO of Friendship Village of Schaumberg in Schaumberg, Ill., where he led the financial and information technology functions for the organization’s parent facility and four subsidiaries. He also served as vice president and CFO of Woodstock Christian Life Services in Woodstock, Ill.

Klockenga earned a master’s degree in business administration at Lake Forest Graduate University in Schaumberg and a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
