Lee’s Summit is known locally and nationally for our exceptional quality of life, which has led to several prestigious honors bestowed to us in 2010. Awards include being ranked in the Top 100 “Best Places to Live” by Money Magazine, one of America’s fastest growing cities by BusinessWeek magazine, and ranked 103rd out of 420 cities surveyed for the list of Wealth Centers according to portfolio.com. Known for our stateof-the art technology provided to citizens and visitors, Lee’s Summit received the “Digital Cities Award” in 2008 and 2009.

The City received the “2010 Missouri Arts Award for Creative Community” in recognition of the entire community’s efforts toward fostering arts and culture. We are fortunate to have a structured network of enthusiastic, dedicated citizens actively engaged in an effort to advance Lee’s Summit in key performance areas including economic development, education, health and human services, local government, quality of life and transportation. This citizen-led visioning effort is now being implemed. This is the City’s third strategic planning process, and is called Lee’s Summit 360°: Charting Tomorrow. Additionally, our City has fast become a shopping and dining destination due to quaint, locally–owned shops in our award-winning downtown district, as well as retail stores and restaurants in the SummitWoods Crossing and the Summit Fair lifestyle centers. There are also a variety of recreational activities, from top-notch recreation centers to quality park and trail systems, to the live music of the summer concert series available for all to enjoy. Our highly acclaimed Parks and Recreation system is a National Gold Medal Winner for Excellence in the Field of Park and Recreation Management by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
