Who Are We?

Full 5-Year Warranty

Do you live for the moment when you’re free to escape the daily grind and make a dash for the great outdoors? Well we do! And since 1983 we’ve been selling our innovative gear to like-minded people all over the world.

So confident are we about our gear that we’ve further improved our extended warranty, which is now an unrivalled ‘Full 5-Year Warranty’. All the bags, cases and pouches we design are tested by the world-renowned Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. And if you need further reassurance, the fact that people like the London Fire Brigade, Los Angeles County Lifeguards and the Japan Coast Guard rely on Aquapac should hopefully put your mind at rest!

We design products that free you from worrying about your things getting muddy or wet when you’re on the trail or out on the water. Something we know all about!

What Do We Mean By Waterproof? We now offer two discrete ranges, to suit whatever outdoor activity you’re doing. Our Submersible range (pages 4 to 19) is guaranteed to IPX8 – that’s the highest waterproofing standard there is. It means that if you really wanted to you could hold them 15ft/5m underwater for half an hour in the confident knowledge that the stuff inside will stay completely safe and dry. Our new Stormproof™ range (pages 20 to 29) will stand up to a jet of water hitting them from any angle (IPX6). Basically they’re fire-hose proof and will stand up to mud, rain and dust on the trail with no problem.

Helping people out

A small selection of projects and expeditions relying on Aquapac bags and cases

Aquapac Outdoor Champion Each year we appoint one Aquapac Outdoor Champion. Someone who embodies all that we at Aquapac believe in. That is, helping people to enjoy the great outdoors. 2009: Daniel Fox, The Wild Image Project 2010: Roz Savage, Rowing Towards a Greener Future 2011: Sarah Outen, London to London Via The World

In 2011 she sets out to journey right around the planet, under her own power. By rowing boat, by bicycle and by kayak. Over the last year Sarah has spoken to some 20,000 schoolchildren, sharing with them her love of the wild.

“I do all that I can to shout about how brilliant wildlife is and to support projects and charities which promote greater understanding of the environment and campaign for increased protection of resources, In 2009 Sarah habitats and Outen became landscapes. Life on Life on the ocean the youngest the ocean showed showed me that person - and me that everything the first woman is connected and everything is connected - to row singlewe all have a duty handed all the to stand up and be way across the counted and take responsibility for Indian Ocean from Australia to our actions. Time is running out.” Mauritius. She raised £30,000 for Sarah Outen, Aquapac Outdoor charity. Champion 2011.

The Heart of Borneo Project The aim of this project is to conserve the rainforest through exploration, research, and education. It’s a newly established charity which works to protect the Borneo rainforest from further destruction for the benefit of its inhabitants – both animals and people – and the wider world through a mixture of exploration, research, community projects and educational work. Stage one was a community project. The 5-person renewable energy and sustainability project team, led by renewable energy engineer Caroline Warwick-Evans, spent 4 weeks in the remote village of Muara Joloi. Her team comprised two University of Exeter students and two Indonesian students from the University of Planagka Raya. Working with the community and alongside field workers from the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation the team looked at how Muara Joloi and other remote communities might harness the power of their rivers and waterfalls to power their village or irrigate their fields.

Stage two is a scientific expedition supported by the Royal Geographical Society, the Natural History Museum, the World Wildlife Fund, National Geographic Adventure and many others (including Aquapac!)

Oxfam Trailwalker Canada Early one morning in July, 118 teams of 4 set out to race 100 kilometres (over 60 miles) along Canada’s Ganaraska Hiking Trail. Some ran, others walked. The aim was to complete the course in less than 48 hours, but the winning team did it in well under 20. The event raised over C$475,000. Prizes were awarded according to the amount of money each team raised for Oxfam. One team raised over $10,000, thirteen raised over $5,000, and seventy-two teams raised over $2,500. We undertook to award a free Aquapac to each and every one of them. The winning team each received one of our Wet & Dry Backpacks.

The Woolly Adelgid Project The hemlock woolly adelgid is a tiny brown bug similar to an aphid. In Asia, the host trees have developed resistance but in eastern North America the hemlock trees have virtually no resistance, and

the insects no natural predators. 12 students from Ohio State University travelled to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, to volunteer for the National Park Service in conjunction with the American Hiking Society. Working closely with National Park Service Park Rangers they saved 671 hemlock trees, removed thousands of multiflora rose, and cleaned three historical houses.

Oxford University Exploration Club The OUEC has been inspiring, encouraging and assisting exploration for over 75 years. Ricky Munday

2.Scientific – support ongoing scientific research on the recession of New Guinea’s glaciers by verifying the existence/extent of ice caps on the three peaks and creating a photographic and data record for analysis. 3.Community – raise a substantial sum of money to support disadvantaged young people and families affected by cancer. Although a standalone expedition, led by Ricky Munday (pictured above), it is also the second leg of a long-term project to climb the three highest peaks on each continent, which has never been attempted.

In 2010 Aquapac provided some gear for their 5-week-long ‘Roof of the World’ expedition in the heart of the Pamir mountains in Tajikistan. The aim of the expedition was to make observational comparisons of Pamiri people and culture to those made by 19th Century explorers, all the while slowly climbing in altitude towards almost 5,000m (16,000ft). Aquapac and the OUEC have now decided to form a long-term affiliation, and we look forward to supporting many more expeditions in the future. The picture below shows our Noatak Wet & Drybags on the Roof of the World expedition.

Australasia 3 Peaks Glacier Expedition This six-week expedition has three aims: 1.Mountaineering – become the first team to safely summit the three highest peaks in Australasia in one expedition.
