Jonathan Johnson enters his third season with LMU baseball... 2009 All-WCC first team selection… is two triples shy of entering LMU’s Top-10 for a career… places tied for fourth in LMU’s record books for triples in a single season with seven in 2009…

Jonathan Russell Johnson was born October 27, 1988 in Lakewood, Calif... son of Linda and Russell Johnson... father played football in college... has a brother and a sister, Jeffery and Reanna... a sociology major.

2009 (SOPHOMORE) Garnered All-West Coast Conference first team honors after a stellar sophomore campaign… started all 59 games for the Lions at second base… batted .305 with seven triples, 10 doubles, a home run, 41 runs scored, 25 walks, a team-best six stolen bases, 11 hit-by-pitches and 24 RBI… walked a total of four times in a game against Holy Cross on February 28… that mark tied the LMU individual game record for that category for the seventh time in LMU history… seven triples ranked second in the WCC and 10th in the nation… triples mark also placed him tied for fourth in the LMU record books for a single season… averaged .12 triples per game, good for 29th in the nation... 11 hit-by-pitches placed tied for second on the team… walks mark ranked ninth in the WCC and third on the team… posted 17 multiple-hit games and six-multiple-RBI games… in conference games alone, batted .375 with 16 runs scored, five doubles, three triples, a home run and 12 RBI… led the WCC in triples during conference play, and placed fifth in batting average… 30 hits in WCC contests placed eighth, while three stolen bases ranked 10th… hits mark also put him second on the team in that category… slugged .550 and reached base at a .433 clip while swiping three bags on the bases in WCC games alone... led the team in WCC play with six hit-by-pitches… hit safely in 17 of 21 conference games, including posting eight multiple-hit games… notched his best day on April 9 versus San Francisco, finishing a perfect 5-for-5, before batting 4-for-4 against then-No. 3 UC Irvine on April 13… five hits were a career high… had a stellar stretch of 10 games from April 3-17, batting .500 with 10 runs scored, four doubles, four triples, three walks, a stolen base, 32 total bases and five RBI over the span… slugged .800 and reached base at a .556 clip, helping guide LMU to a 7-3 record in those games… hit safely in six consecutive games from March 15-22… scored a career-high four runs against Holy Cross on February 28… drove in a career-best three runs against Fresno State on March 22… belted his first career home run on April 24 at Saint Mary’s… batted .312 against right-handed pitchers and .337 with runners on base… reached base at a .418 clip when leading-off an inning… hit .300 with runners in scoring position and .300 with two outs in an inning… collected nine two-out RBI, including five in WCC play alone… hit .400 against lefties and .371 against righties from the WCC… notched a .395 average with runners on base in conference games… was 11-for-24 (.458) when leadingoff an inning and 11-for-27 (.407) with two outs during conference play...
