Studio Brief Title: Brief 14: Blister Sound Sessions Synopsis: The brief was to produce a screen print design to submit to the Print Club’s Blister Sound Session exhibition. The idea was to produce a screen print design based on a piece of music/band/musician, the only restriction was that you couldn’t reference the name/title of the song or band you were including. I decided to produce a screen print based on the song ‘My Maudlin Career’ by Camera Obscura. List of deliverables

I will blog this under the module codes ‘OUGD603’, ‘OUGD603: Design Practice’, ‘Brief 14: Blister Sound Sessions’ and ‘Brief 14: Context’. I will produce a screen print, which will be evidenced on the blog through photography, as well as a mocked up image of the print.
Evaluation: I have really enjoyed doing this brief as I have always loved the screen printing process. I feel very positive about this brief, and received positive feedback from Print Club London about it. I think the strengths of this brief were the employment of colour, and the use of hand rendered illustration, which I used to create a more romantic and feminine image that appeals to Camera Obscura’s audience, and reflects their sound. If I had to improve this brief, I would have wanted to produce the print on a larger scale, as well as producing an actual series of prints, based on either other songs from Camera Obscura, or more of my favourite songs in general. I feel like this could have become an ongoing brief that would have helped to exercise my printing skills further.
