I will blog this under the module codes ‘OUGD603’, ‘OUGD603: Design Practice’, ‘New Brief 1: Winterlight’ and ‘New Brief 1: Context’. I will produce both pitch presentation boards and a pitch presentation, as well as producing mock ups of the products that would be created should we be chosen for the pitch.

Evaluation: I feel that this brief has been a very positive experience, as myself, Mike and Suzanne successfully pitched this project and will begin working on it this coming September. I feel that the main strength of this brief has been our actual concept, as this was the main thing that we had to sell to the client, and we worked hard to ensure that it was well thought out and properly communicated throughout our pitch boards and presentation. I enjoyed working on visually communicating the concept, through the creation of promotional materials such as the flyer and the programme, in which we employed the use of photograms, an exposure process that creates black and white images that we thought were appropriate as they were visually striking and related to light as well as being adaptable to any theme. I feel that we could have improved some of the designs that we worked on, for example the logo, which we received constructive feedback on so that the lines on the logo mark were cleaner. If we had had more time to work on the pitch, we could have also pushed the ideas we had even further and perhaps even attempted to produce the designs instead of just mocking them up. Working collaboratively has been a positive experience on this brief, as each of us have different strengths that we have successfully combined to work on this pitch, and In the future I would like to work more with Suzanne and Mike. We felt that having the opportunity to pitch was a valuable experience as we learnt how to properly communicate our ideas to the client.
