Business Insights ‘Leading edge thinking for growing your business and unlocking your people potential’

‘How can you develop a ‘culture of leadership’?’ “Culture is KING…build it, nurture it and most importantly never stop developing it!”

Reading time: 2 minutes 53 seconds

Your competition will copy your products if they’re good. They’ll copy your services.

important. And it’s your culture, that lets your people and your customers know what your organisation’s values are i.e. honesty, innovation, candor, going that extra mile for customers.

They’ll copy your branding. They may even try to poach your people! However, there is one thing that they will never be able to copy, and that’s your culture! Your culture is the very thing that makes your organisation special, distinct and unique… or not, as the case may be! Your culture is what sets the standards, and then drives the standards of behaviour…it’s your competitive edge! Your culture tells your people what’s acceptable and what’s www.pti-worldwide.com

People want to go to work each day and feel they are part of a community. One of the deepest psychological needs of a human being is the need for belonging. We also want to work for a business that values us, promotes our personal growth and development, and makes us feel like we are contributing to something much bigger. However, and you’ve probably guessed this one was coming, Leadership is not just the role of Managers and Leaders as defined by

their name on a job profile or business card. Leadership is everyone’s responsibility (after all, life is about self-leadership), and therefore each and every person in a business plays their part in building and enhancing the culture. Leadership is not about title…it’s about actions.

What is a ‘culture of Leadership’? The faster you can get every single person in your business ‘demonstrating’ leadership behaviours, regardless of his or her position, the quicker you’ll secure your position as a world-class organisation. The race is to grow leaders, team members and colleagues fast, and develop a ‘culture of leadership’ before your competitors do!

A ‘culture of Leadership’ isn’t about your job title, the size of your office or the number of direct reports you have. It’s a way of thinking – with every individual in your organisation operating from a solid core of personal ownership, responsibility and accountability for their actions and results.

In summary EVERYONE within an organisation where there is a ‘culture of leadership’ is a ‘Leader’, and falls into one of the below dials, which together create an over-arching leadership framework.
