CANFIELD — South Range High School awarded 11 students the title of valedictorian during the June 9 graduation ceremonies. Anna Cullar, daughter of Ken and Dawn Cullar, North Lima, graduated with a 4.0 GPA to be named valedictorian. She served as student council president and Key Club secretary. She was also a member of National Honor Society, FreshmanSenior Sisterhood, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Her awards include the Robinette Scholastic Award and a Scholar Athlete award. Cullar will participate in a study abroad proCullar gram. Ellen Downie, daughter of Alex and Chris Downie, Canfield, also earned a 4.0 GPA to graduate as valedictorian. She participated in National Honor Society, soccer, track, Key Club and Freshman-Senior Sisterhood. She was awarded the Robinette Scholastic Award, Scholar Athlete award, and first team Inter-Tri County Leaguesoccer. Downie plans to attend The Ohio State University. Maria Fazal, daughter of Najeed Downie and Dylia Fazal, North Lima, was named class valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. Her activities included Key Club, Art Club, National Honor Society, tae kowondo, and hospital volunteering. She was the recipient of the National Hispanic Recognition Scholar award, National Merit Commended Student award, Scholastic Writing Silver Key, and Scholastic Art Honorable Mention. Fazal will major in biology at Case Western Reserve University.

Bre Gwirtz, daughter of Sue and Ken Gwirtz, North Lima, graduated with a 4.0 GPA to be named valedictorian.
