PRINTMAKING

We’re excited to be able to offer a selection of printmaking classes in the Winter session. More classes will be added on the website as well, so please visit lillstreet.com to see our latest offerings. Join us to learn traditional techniques such as etching, woodcut, lithography, screeprinting, and letterpress. We also offer instruction in contemporary, experimental, and mixed-media approaches and strive to have as environmentally responsible a classroom and studio as possible.

Screen Printing FIRST-TIME SCREENPRINTING ON paper

MULTILEVEL SCREENPRINTING ON PAPER ( 10 WEEKS )

Prepare a screen and print an image using stencils and photoemulsion. Most equipment and some paper provided, and UV vacuum exposure unit make exposing a screen faster and easier! Materials fee includes most materials including inks.

A perfect class for those who have screen printed before and would like to continue, Multi Level Screen caters to students of all skill levels. Students will become reacquainted with the updated facilities, learn some new tricks, and focus on in-depth projects such as poster runs, handmade cards and fine art editions. Generous open studio is included, as well as ink and some paper with materials fee of $20.

MultiLevel Printing Relief & Monoprint ( 10 WEEKS ) Students will learn to make relief prints from linoleum blocks, as well as the creation of one-of-a-kind monoprints. Detailed instruction on tools, cutting techniques, and the translation of ideas will be covered. Explore single and multiple block approaches, collage techniques, plus the opportunity to incorporate monoprint techniques including xerox transfer. Works can be printed with the press or by hand. Some materials are provided, a supply list will be provided on the first day.

INTAGLIO AND RELIEF ( 10 weeks ) This multilevel course explores traditional methods of intaglio printmaking including hard and soft ground etching, aquatint, drypoint, engraving, monotype and monoprint. Methods for woodblock relief printing including woodblock preparation and cutting as well as press and hand printing methods will also be covered. Thursday 11am-2pm
