Let's Talk Investments

Investment by definition is the act of devoting time, effort, energy or finances to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result. We can invest in a lot of things, such as our community, our relationships, our finances and our health, with the hope that the effort will have a positive impact.

We can invest in our community by supporting our local businesses, schools and organizations. Investing in our finances helps create wealth, meets longterm financial goals and secures our retirement. On a personal level, we can invest in our families and enrich relationships by giving time and effort to the people in our lives that mean the most to us.

While investing in ourselves, relationships, community and finances can look very different from person to person, the effort we put into these areas of our lives is done with the common goal of having a positive impact that yields results.

In this issue, we are sharing ways that we can invest in our community and our own personal finances. Plus, we’re celebrating our 100th issue with a special article dedicated to honoring our growth as a magazine and a community. Happy reading, Medina County!

Until next month,

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT PARTAKE KITCHEN AND THE SERVICE YOU OFFER TO MEDINA COUNTY.

We provide homemade meals to Medina and its surrounding communities. We also offer an allergen-free menu each week following the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) eating plan. In addition to our weekly meals, we offer customized catering services.

HOW LONG HAS PARTAKE KITCHEN BEEN SERVING NORTHEAST OHIO?

Since August of 2019.

HOW DO YOU CREATE DIFFERENT MENU ITEMS?

We love our customers, so we often create menu items using their feedback and requests.

WHAT ARE A FEW OF YOUR FAVORITE MENU ITEMS THAT YOU OFFER?

I love the beef bourguignon over buttered noodles, blackened shrimp with Grits and chicken paprikash.

TELL US ABOUT THE AIP MENU AND HOW IT DIFFERS FROM YOUR REGULAR MENU.

This menu offers gluten-free and allergy-friendly options that are free from grain, dairy, sugar, eggs and nuts. ParTake even ensures that there is an AIP option for every dish on the regular menu so that everyone in your family can enjoy a worry-free dinnertime.

“Adding ParTake to your weekly food budget saves money and time.”

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR MAKING AND PICKING UP AN ORDER?

Each Wednesday, we release our menu for the week and online ordering opens. Clients have the ability to view the menu and place their orders until Saturday, when online ordering closes. Each meal on the menu is intended to serve one, but when ordering for the entire family you can request that the order is "packaged family style" to have multiple meals served together. On the following Monday, pickup for meals begins. Clients are able to pick up their Monday and Tuesday meals on Monday and pick up their meals for the rest of the week on Wednesday.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE FINANCIAL BENEFITS OF ORDERING FROM PARTAKE?

Adding ParTake to your weekly food budget saves money and time. The portions are generous and can be shared or saved for the days ahead. Plus, you don't have to purchase all of the ingredients it takes to make each meal from scratch; it can be quite a bit cheaper this way.

TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT HOW EASY IT IS TO PREPARE/REHEAT PARTAKE MEALS.

Every packaged meal has re-heating instructions for the microwave and oven. This means that you don't have anything to prepare and no dishes to wash!

WHAT ELSE SHOULD OUR READERS KNOW ABOUT PARTAKE?

Our ordering and pick-up process is quick and easy. When you arrive to pick up your meal, you don't even have to leave your vehicle — our friendly staff will bring your order right to you!

Visit us at  ParTakeKitchen.com to learn more and place an order. Follow us on Facebook at Facebook.com/ ParTakeKitchen where we will post about extra meals if you missed the ordering deadline.

FINANCIAL LITERACY

HOW YOU CAN PROMOTE FINANCIAL LITERACY IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE
FINANCIAL BUZZ | PROFESSIONAL SERVICES 14

Financial literacy is not just a buzzword; it’s a fundamental skill that empowers individuals and families to make informed and confident decisions about their money. As we celebrate Financial Literacy Month in April, it’s an opportune time to delve into the significance of financial literacy and the role it plays in achieving financial well-being.

different financial products, understand the risks and benefits of investments and evaluate the terms of loans and credit.

AVOIDING COSTLY MISTAKES

Conversely, a lack of financial literacy can lead to costly mistakes. From accumulating high-interest debt to falling victim to predatory financial

“FINANCIAL LITERACY IS A LIFELONG JOURNEY.”

EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS WITH KNOWLEDGE

When you think of financial literacy, you might think of trying to understand complex financial concepts you’ll never use in practice. However, in addition to the complex, financial literacy also encompasses our ability to manage our daily personal finances effectively. In short, financial literacy equips us with the knowledge and skills needed to budget, save, invest and make financial decisions that align with our goals.

Here are two areas where we can benefit from understanding more about personal finance:

MAKING INFORMED DECISIONS

When you are financially literate, you are better equipped to make informed decisions about your hard-earned money. You can decipher the implications of

practices, uninformed decisions can have long-lasting negative effects on your financial well-being.

PROMOTING FINANCIAL LITERACY: A COLLECTIVE EFFORT

Raising awareness about the importance of financial literacy requires a collective effort from educators, families, communities and financial institutions. Though more schools today incorporate personal finance lessons than in years past, the unfortunate truth is that most high school students graduate with low financial literacy.

What can be done to help? As they say, it takes a village:

EARLY EDUCATION

Introducing financial literacy education at an early age can set the stage for a lifetime of responsible financial management. Since most schools don’t

require these courses, parents play a vital role in teaching their children about budgeting, saving and the value of money.

WORKPLACE INITIATIVES

Employers can contribute by offering financial wellness programs and resources to their employees. Workshops, seminars and online resources can provide valuable insights into budgeting, retirement planning and other financial topics. If you have young people in your life just beginning their careers, encourage them to find out whether their employer offers any of these benefits.

COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

Community organizations and financial institutions can organize workshops, seminars and events to promote financial literacy among adults. These sessions can cover topics such as debt management, investing basics and retirement planning. Keep an eye on the B.A. Schrock Financial Group website ( BASchrock-fg.com) for events we offer throughout the year.

THE DIGITAL AGE AND FINANCIAL LITERACY

In today’s digital age, technology has transformed the way we manage our finances — and given us tremendous amounts of information at our fingertips. It’s essential today to understand how to navigate online banking, mobile payment apps and digital security measures.

ONLINE RESOURCES

The internet offers a plethora of resources for improving financial literacy. Online courses, budgeting tools, and interactive simulations can help you enhance your understanding of personal finance. Just be sure to vet your sources — the internet is, unfortunately, full of inaccurate information.

STAYING SECURE

Financial literacy also encompasses understanding cybersecurity and protecting personal and financial information online. Always remain aware of common concerns such as phishing scams, identity theft risks and best practices for online security.

FINANCIAL BUZZ | PROFESSIONAL SERVICES 16

“TECHNOLOGY HAS TRANSFORMED THE WAY WE MANAGE OUR FINANCES.”

HOW WILL YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH?

Financial Literacy Month serves as a reminder of the critical role that financial education plays in shaping our financial futures. At B.A. Schrock Financial Group, we believe that by promoting financial literacy, we can empower individuals to take control of their finances, make well-informed decisions and build a strong foundation for their financial well-being.

To help promote financial literacy, we are making our Managing Inflation in Retirement Guide available to all Medina County Lifestyle readers. Visit BASchrock-fg.com/Inflation-Guide/ to download your copy today.

111 Bistro and The Vue Offer Culinary Delights in Medina County 20

Investing in our local restaurants isn’t difficult because Northeast Ohio is no stranger to great food. From unique concepts across Medina and Akron to Michelin-star restaurants in Cleveland, gastronomic adventures are anything but few and far between.

Recently, we had the chance to try out two restaurants in the area that have since become regulars on our dinner rotation: 111 Bistro in Medina and The Vue in Wadsworth. Both are owned and operated by local Anthony Scolaro, and bring innovation and expertly crafted menus that highlight fresh and local ingredients.

111 BISTRO

This Medina County staple has been emphasizing the value of high-quality, seasonal ingredients since it opened in 2014. 111 Bistro’s commitment to using only the freshest and most flavorful ingredients is prevalent in every dish, as menus are adjusted seasonally to highlight the most flavorful fruits, veggies and herbs.

To achieve thoughtfully curated seasonal menus, 111 Bistro works closely with local purveyors and producers. This ensures that the menu is fresh and diverse while highlighting the best ingredients our area has to offer. What’s more, is that 111 Bistro supports and empowers its chefs in the creation of innovative dishes that shine light on the flavors of each season.

At the time of writing this article, we had the chance to sample a few of 111 Bistro’s winter menu items. Some of our favorites included the Cranberry Pesto Flatbread starter that’s crafted with naan bread, goat cheese, peppadews and marcona almonds; Shephard’s Pie featuring braised lamb shank, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots; and the Osso Bucco with beef shank, saffron risotto and tomato demi sauce. Although some of these items may no longer be available on the spring menu — which will likely be out by the time this article goes to print — we have no doubt that a new season will bring new favorites.

To learn more about 111 Bistro and make a reservation, visit 111Bistro.com. 111 Bistro is located at 2736 Medina Rd. in Medina.

THE VUE

Anthony and Brian Dolgowicz of Wadsworth opened The Vue in 2023 with the goal of providing an exceptional dining experience to Wadsworth residents and visitors alike. Similar to 111 Bistro, The Vue focuses on quality ingredients and seasonality. This approach is aimed at consistently delivering a unique, fresh and exciting dining experience to guests.

Also similar to 111 Bistro, The Vue exclusively offers dinner service and rotates its menus seasonally to feature the freshest ingredients our area has to offer. Each menu also follows a central theme. The most recent winter menu adhered to the theme of comfort by offering warm, rich and hearty dishes. Eye-catching entrees on the comfort-themed menu included Duck Meatloaf, Roast Half Chicken, Lobster Mac and Pork Tenderloin.

You can visit The Vue for dinner service at 102 High St. in Wadsworth. To learn more about the restaurant, view the menu and make a reservation, visit TheVueWads.com.

CELEBRATING OUR 100TH ISSUE

Do you remember that time we launched a magazine — this magazine? We can't believe we're saying this, but that was over eight years ago.  At the time of our launch, we were so excited to bring Medina County Lifestyle to the community. Our minds were swimming with ways to celebrate what makes Medina County (and all of Northeast Ohio) so special. As we celebrate our 100th issue, the excitement to present Medina County Lifestyle to you, our readers, every month hasn't faded — not even a little. We love sharing stories, events, news and everything in between with you.

Although our excitement about the magazine hasn't changed, we know a lot has. But one thing's for sure — you, our readers, have remained loyal and have continued to read our stories, send us tips and share your feedback. Without your support each month, we wouldn't be here.

Additionally, we wouldn't be here without our amazing marketing partners. Although it would be nearly impossible to name them all, we do want to draw attention to four local businesses that have supported us from the beginning:

Chippewa Stone, The Place, Interior Design Studio, Salon Evangelene and Mills Tree Service.

As we begin to plan the content for our ninth year of publication, please continue to reach out to us with your feedback, thoughts and article ideas — we love hearing from you. Contact information for myself (editor), our publisher and our publication director can be found in every issue in the Masthead (typically page 4).
