OF THE SPACE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED, INCLUDING THE WALLS. This can be a daunting task. But the folks at House Sprucing are up for the challenge. “We are a full-service design boutique located in The Shops at Highland Village. We do everything from remodels and new builds to furniture, styling and custom drapes,” says owner Toni Elmer. “We also happen to have a retail space that we are excited for people to visit and shop. “Our shop is pretty special. It’s broken into three parts. The front is retail space, where we hold our classes. The middle is more of a showroom, and the back is our client presentation area and design studio. We offer everything from decor for your shelves to custom furniture and, of course, all of our design services. No job is too big or too small.” This month, Toni offers tips for homeowners on how to style their walls to fit their design aesthetic. Don't pick photos from just one event. For it to be memorable, it needs to contain more than one memory.
Lay it out. Trace your frames on paper and lay those out to make sure your sizes make sense.
Make it meaningful. Mix photos with art and typography to tell your story.
Mix frames and sizes. You don't need them to match, and you actually don't want them to.
Keep it tight. It's better to stay close with 2- to 3-inch spacing rather than farther apart.

FALL WEATHER IN TEXAS IS UNPREDICTABLE AT BEST WITH TEMPERATURES OFTEN TEETERING BETWEEN CRISP AND COOL TO HOT AND SWELTERING. Choosing the perfect outfit for such imperfect weather can be a challenge. This month, Megan Condrack, owner of Megan’s Lifestyle Boutique, shows us some transitional outfits that will comfortably and stylishly carry us from summer to fall. “Begin by adding slightly warmer colors to your style,” Megan says. She advises blending white jeans and darker tops and shoes. “This blend of white and colors will transition you into fall. Use the same darker tops and add the fall-colored darker pants and booties for a great Texas fall look.” And, she says, “Always remember, sleeveless tops transition well with lightweight jackets or blazers.” Forget the antiquated rule of not wearing white after Labor Day, Megan says. “Yes, you can wear white after Labor Day. White is year-round. ‘No rules’ is how I operate. Dress for your personality and body type. “Stay current but not necessarily ‘trendy,’” Megan says. “Trends come and go, but our clothing typically has a longer ‘closet life.’ Great quality fabrics and dressing for your body type create items that will be in your closet for years to come, benefiting the ‘price-per-wear’ value.” And don’t forget to accessorize! “Accessories are the icing on the cake. They complete the story and express your personal style,” Megan says. When it comes to accessorizing, Megan advises individuals to simply have fun. “You don’t have to always wear the same necklace and earrings. Let your accessories reflect the occasion.” MEET THE MODELS Lindsay Ayers, director of Strategic Partnerships for Lewisville ISD, has been with the school district for three years. She is a member of The Village Church, where she is a home group leader. Lindsay says she loves working for Lewisville ISD. “It is really fun working for an organization comprised of so many talented individuals. Our students and staff are often recognized as the best of the best.” Lindsay, a mom of three, says her style profile is “classic and classy” but practical. “Having kids means that one minute I might be having an ‘adult ARTWORK Do You Suppose She is a Wildflower by artist Kimberly Panagiotakos

A NIGHT TO SHINE LOCAL VOLUNTEERS CREATE A MAGICAL PROM EXPERIENCE FOR YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS, MEMBERS OF THE WELL COMMUNITY CHURCH, ROCKPOINTE CHURCH, ARGYLE HIGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS HAVE PROVIDED A NIGHT TO SHINE FOR LOCAL YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. Plans currently are underway for another unforgettable evening in February at Argyle High School. “Night to Shine is a fantastic evening that shows Christ’s love to the special needs community,” says event coordinator Daphne Arrington. “It is a night to celebrate, show love, acceptance and allow the attendees to be treated as queens and kings.” Created by the Tim Tebow Foundation, Night to Shine offers a perfect prom experience for those with special needs ages 14 and older. Guests arrive by limousine and enter the complimentary event on a red carpet surrounded by friends, family, and, of course, “paparazzi.” Inside the event, each guest experiences the royal treatment, including hair and makeup services, shoe shines, corsages CONTINUED >

PARTING THOUGHTS
Always in Fashion DAD'S OLD RECORDS PROVE SOME THINGS NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE MY FATHER LOVED MUSIC. When he was young, he built an impressive record collection and would get a gleam in his eye every time he spoke of it. He was so proud—though he rarely played them. Dad passed away this past spring, and when we traveled to visit family in the summer, I began sifting through Dad’s treasure trove of vinyl that he had tucked away in the basement. With each album cover, I could hear him humming the songs in my head. My father and I disagreed on many things. I inherited his stubborn streak, which made for some heated debates from time to time. But luckily, I also inherited his impeccable taste in music. We always found common

ground in our love of greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Lady Day, Dinah Washington and “Ol’ Blue Eyes.” I recently brought many of Dad’s records home to add to my small collection. And every time I play one, I am reminded that great music—really great music—never goes out of style. In fact, I think it becomes more meaningful because it represents a person, place or time in our life. Stevie Wonder once said, “Music, at its essence, is what gives us memories. And the longer a song has existed in our lives, the more memories we have of it.” Like Dad, I am so proud of my records—the ones from him and the ones I’ve collected. Unlike him, I play them all the time. I hope the songs will fill our home with happy memories, and that one day, many many years from now, my children will sift through them and hear me humming the songs in their heads.
