“We can’t thank Jan enough for Accenture’s support,” Gress said. “We recognize that individuals who care bring corporate sponsorships to the table. Jan made the effort and, as a result, will make a huge difference in the lives of the youth we serve.” “The principles of corporate social responsibility are fundamental to Accenture’s character and the way we run our business,” said Vrins, who recently was asked to join the Covenant House Florida board of directors. “Accenture and our people work to make a sustainable, measurable difference to the communities in which we work and live. And our support of Covenant House Florida reflects that commitment.” Berg, a Broadway veteran, is the composer/lyricist of the hit Off-Broadway musical “The Prince and the Pauper,” which ran for two years at the Lambs Theater in New York City. He also is the composer for the musical “Grumpy Old Men,” based on the Warner Brothers movie classic starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Berg was introduced to Covenant House and its efforts on behalf of runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth at the organization’s New Jersey facility. He was so deeply moved he developed and launched the “Night of Broadway Stars” fundraiser, which now takes place at multiple Covenant House sites across the nation. In South Florida, Covenant House opened in Fort Lauderdale in 1985 and expanded to Orlando in 1995. Last year, the organization reached more than 200 teens a day via street outreach, crisis shelters, transitional housing projects, and walk-in services, making it one of the largest private agencies serving runaway and homeless youth in the state of Florida.
