The capital of Vermont is Montpelier, located in Central Vermont. The Vermont State Song: These Green Mountains These green hills and silver waters Are my home - they belong to me And to all of her sons and daughters May they be strong and forever free Let us live to protect her beauty And look with pride on the golden dome They say home is where the heart is These green mountains are my home These green mountains are my home

Bridgewater Village School and Library
The school library is housed in the town hall building, which is across the parking lot from the school building.
Students in grades Kindergarten through Grade Six attend library lessons each week.
This photograph of Mount Tom in Woodstock, Vermont was taken by a fourth grader in Bridgewater Village School. All of my students will eventually attend the Woodstock Middle School/High School. You can see the MS/HS below in this photo.
There are six elementary schools in our Supervisory Union: Barnard Academy, Bridgewater Village School, Reading Elementary School, Sherburne (Killington) Elementary School, The Pomfret School and Woodstock Elementary School. All of the schools are in Windsor County, which is in south central Vermont.
Our elementary school populations are small. Most of our schools have fewer than 80 students in grades Pre‐K through Six.
The name Vermont likely comes from the French Les Verts Monts, meaning “The Green Mountains.” Sometimes the mountains look green, sometimes they look blue, sometimes they are white, and at times during the Fall, they sing with many colors. Killington Mountain is the second largest mountain in Vermont. Students ski in the winter months at our schools.

Students meet every Friday in the library to talk about books, eat lunch and have an ice cream treat.
Barnard Academy is located in Barnard, Vermont. This is my hometown. I love teaching in Barnard – it only takes me a few minutes to get to the school!
On March 2nd we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday by reading Dr. Seuss books. Do you know the book, The Cat in the Hat?
Barnard students have fun at recess.
Barnard students like Skyping with Killington students. This is a photoshop photo! Do you/your students Skype with anyone?

About the Author I have been living in Vermont for over ten years. I am married to my wonderful husband, Randal, and have two children, Natalie and Alexander. Most of my 25 years of experience has been as an elementary school classroom teacher. For the past ten years, I have worked as a library media specialist in three different schools in the Windsor County Supervisory Union. I select library materials, teach literature enrichment and library skills, and work with teachers on media projects. My principals, co‐workers and students are wonderful. I am very fortunate to be a teacher. I am very excited to be able to experience the culture of China first hand. Thank you for the opportunity to learn about your school and your life. Sincerely,
Eileen
