Animation Film “Painted Feelings” Linda Otomare Arts, Liepaja University

Summary Art is a way to show the world. It can be realistic view of things and persons in some perspective or it can be a view through our inside world. For me learning art has been more or less a technical thing, I have been learning how to show things as realistic as I can and the emotional part of art making has gone into background. Art can be used not just for decorative purposes – to make an artwork, who decorates the room and so on. Sometimes the emotion that is put in the artwork is more important than any other content of it, even more important than artistry of the artist. I wanted to remind myself and others with this animation film about the emotional part of art - where emotions can be transformed into an artwork, where emotion can be proponent for making an art work, where art is a helper to deal with our bad emotions and problems. Someone is writing music and songs, when he feels bad, and someone paints his problems when he feels down. The thought for both is that you need to get the emotions out, to put them somewhere and art can be used as a therapy for that. This animation film is about a girl who is dealing with her emotions by painting them. This animation is made putting together two techniques - drawing with cut out. The backgrounds are drawn, but the characters and other needed things are drawn and cut out. Animation is done in sepia tones. Animations’ music is by Bang Gang song named “Inside”. Animation film wasn’t made for any specific target group. Everyone can find something attractive for him in it. For younger age it could be the animation itself and characters, for older it could be the story and for some it could be the musical atmosphere.
