Corporate Citizenship and Governance Practices in Holy Name University, Tagbilaran City, Bohol Ernesto O. Golosino ernesto_hnu@yahoo.com Holy Name University Philippines 2:31 – 2:50 August 18 – Kamagong Hall The school is widely viewed as one of the major institutions in society. It assumes a socially responsible role for itself that has given rise to two competing paradigms, corporate citizenship and governance. Corporate Citizenship (CC) has become indispensable in modern business discourse; yet identifying and defining what Corporate Citizenship (CC) means is open to questions. The concept looks beyond self –interest and recognize that an institution belongs to a larger group that expects its responsible participation. Governance on the other hand serves as in important mechanism to ensure continued growth and accountability for organizational resources and strategy. This study sought to present the theoretical and empirical analyses of the diverse applications of the concepts in a school setting. A review of the Corporate Citizenship and governance literature provides the backdrop to develop an integrative framework that highlights the various steps of the Corporate Citizenship and governance design and implementation process. This study presents a model of how corporate citizenship and governance principles can be integrated in the overall operations of the school to ensure that all its stakeholders can aligned their efforts with the institution’s stated strategic direction.
